Abdulrasheed Maina, former chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT), has been convicted on charges of money laundering by a federal high court in Abuja.

Maina was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) In 2019 — but he pleaded not guilty to a 12-count charge of money laundering to the tune of N2 billion. Delivering the judgment on Monday, Okon Abang, trial judge, held that Maina stole over N2 billion belonging to pensioners, “most of whom have died without reaping the fruits of their labour”.

The judge said the former PRTT chairman is guilty of concealing his true identity as a signatory to accounts opened in two banks – UBA and Fidelity bank – by using the identity of his family members without their knowledge. The accounts had cash deposits of N300 million, N500 million, and N1.5 billion.

The Xiaomi Mi 11 had been first announced in China in December 2020, then received a second global launch in February 2021. It finally arrived in European and African markets that exact same month.

Prices for the Xiaomi Mi 11 start from $1,057 for the 128GB model, while a 256GB model is out at around $1,128. The Xiaomi Mi 11 isn’t currently being sold globally.

Design

The Xiaomi Mi 11 may be a far more ‘premium’ device than the Pixel 5, within common sense. It’s sleek and curvy from all angles, supported by glass surfaces (including super-tough Gorilla Glass Victus around the front) covering an aluminum body.

Display

This is an absolute peach of a 6.81-inch display, able to output at 1440 x 3200 (QHD+) and 120Hz simultaneously, a bit like the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra and also the OnePlus 9 Pro. It also can get bright when the sun comes out, to the tune of 1500 nits – approximately double the Pixel 5 at its peak.

Google, on the opposite hand, relies far more on its algorithmic smarts for the Pixel 5 camera. It’s still using the normal same 12.2-megapixel Sony Exmor IMX363 sensor that would be found in Pixel 3 and also the Pixel 4.

Google also introduced a 16-megapixel ultra-wide sensor for the Pixel 5 smartphone. Due to those AI skills, there’s a formidable lack of distortion to those shots – though the aspect of view comes in at a rather narrow 107-degrees.

It’s surely more effective than the Xiaomi Mi 11’s 13MP f/2.4 ultra-wide sensor. It does a job and boasts a wider 123-degree field of view, but it falls well in need of the main sensor on detail and color balance. You also get a 3rd sensor with the Mi 11, like the shape of a 5MP telemacro sensor.
