At least looking at some of the equipment there one can see that government did try to provide some facilities, but employees in Nigeria are of a different breed. Before getting jobs, they will make all sorts of promises once they are inside the only thing they want to do is wreck the business. It becomes worse when it is a government facility.

Now try to sack them now, labor and social media will have an outcry

Politics / Re: Dangote Refinery: Tinubu Committee Will Announce Our Petrol Price On October 1 by 9jatriot(m): 10:21am On Sep 16
The government is not announcing any price on October 1st. Stop creating news that is not true.

Petrol is deregulated now, even though it does not seem to be fully so but the government will no longer fix prices, NNPC can fix the prices for their own stations, and others can sell at whatever price they like.

The aide that compared PO to Trump should have been sacked. The lamba king is best compared to Yahaya Bello, Ortom and the likes.

That aides needs training on how to stay out of the way of super powers.

Because of civil service rules, It is always difficult sacking them, that is why there is often no consequence management in the civil service.

The things they get away with, you can not try them in the private sector of their size. Even one man business will not allow it.

Now if the government now finds a way to punish them, the same Nigerians will start shouting that the government is sacking people in the midst of suffering.
Politics / Re: Dear Nigerians, Dangote, Tinubu, NNPC & Marketers Played You by 9jatriot(m): 6:14pm On Sep 15
Obviously you do not know the way the man Tinubu thinks. Rather than government being directly involved in the building and running of refineries, he will rather encourage private sector to build and run or at best run a PPP.

Only foolish people do the same thing over and over again even when there is no result. Those refineries own by Nigeria may never work using the same model as is being done.

DesChyko:

Correct. So Tinubu cannot deny to know if a refinery is capable of working in Nigeria. He also cannot deny to know if Nigeria has refineries, where they are located or if Nigeria's money goes there.

If a private individual can make a refinery work from scratch, thankfully, Tinubu doesn't have to start from scratch since there are already 4 standing refineries to touch up and get churning out petroleum products. Also, he has the country's war chest, the 469 legislative members and international relations to make it work.

These are the priorities, not watching Dangote trailers. We need to focus here. A better Nigeria is POssible.
Politics / Re: Dear Nigerians, Dangote, Tinubu, NNPC & Marketers Played You by 9jatriot(m): 5:42pm On Sep 15
Bad belle people, una be think say una wise.

After condemning Dagotte and his refinery over the years and hoping that it never came online, because you guys thought that Dangotte and Tinubu were falling out, you guys became emergency lover of DAngotte.

Well, the refinery is finally working, and it happened in the regime of Tinubu.

There will be more good news. The security situation will soon be brought under control and the fortunes of this country will turnaround for good.

Nigerians like to blame the government for everything and rarely want to believe that they share the blame in anything.

Expert wen non fit build em own refiniery but de beaf person wen don build, which kind yeye expert be that.

People seem to forget that the refinery is a private one so the owner gets to choose what to do with his company product as long as he is acting within regulation.

I don't know if this is true or not, a good thing or a bad thing, but at least people can now see that government has been carrying a lot of loads that was never appreciated.

Each time I hear talks like, "What has Nigeria done for me", well Nigeria was subsiding your fuel, of course you did not realize it until the talk of subsidy remover came up.
Education is heavily subsidized, many people do not realize that. Health is also heavily subsidized.

As bad as people think Nigeria is, one has to be grateful to God for the things we sort of enjoy, which of course has made us very entitled.

Lamba king at it again.

Someone asked if this lamba king did not see the kind of stadium Akpabio built in Akwa Ibom? This man has no legacy as a governor to his name other than unverifiable stories.

Nigeria is at a cross road, they have to remove subsidy in order to reduce borrowing. Even an intelligent SS3 student would know that.

Obidient and Wailers Association used to like this guy then. The used to call him tormentor in chief because at that time, Buhari was their enemy.

They even went further to call him a man of truth.

Their joy also knew no bounds when he carried his protest to the Chantam house to protest against Tinubu in addition to all the tweets he previously had against Tinubu.

That is why I always laugh since they are no longer able to tolerate each other. No weeks pass without Reno, Obi, and Obidients trying to get at each other's throats.

Politics / Re: Obasanjo, Gowon Started Fuel Subsidy -IMPI by 9jatriot(m): 10:44am On Sep 11
The fuel subsidy thing is a case of "Who will bell the cat?" Successive government have all identified the subsidy thing as been unrealistic.Taking loans upon loans to subsidize a product does not sound good even for financially illiterate people so they want the subsidy to go.

But when people say take away subsidy, many of them do not understand what it means, they assume that when subsidy is removed that the price will still stay the same. Non be juju be that?

Because we run a democracy, many leaders fear reelection and are afraid to take the correct decisions because they know that it could affect their election and public perception. If Tinubu successfully pulls this off, it would probably cost him the next election but every sane leader knows that the era of petrol subsidy now has to go.

I think you misunderstood my quoting you. I probably wasn't clear enough. I was using your quote to respond to the other guy. I wasn't attacking your position.
sparko1:

The fact that you think this sarcasm is an appropriate response speaks to who is delusional between us.

The riot doesn't consume everything at once, it begins gradually, then one day it's becomes obvious for everyone.

The question is when did the riot begin, you and your disillusioned friends keep quoting 1£ is equal to, 1 dollar is equal to, even under Jonathan the naira has been under pressure, even before his time, the CBN has been having a field day using the reserve to keep the naira up, but then it doesn't matter because they know it's not sustainable, you are just covering the riot with fine dressing.

The fact is until now we all thought it's okay to do what we want, even when the international community says, this is just just outrageous.

You want to speak, give solutions, even the opposition agree this is the best route, and trust me, I don't give a crap about the president, every politician is in for himself, but Nigerians need to face the truth, give me a solution that doesn't involve cut off the riot, if not STFU.

I was going to stop responding to you since you understandably are still delusional but then I saw a post that exemplifies an appropriate response to you.

Sladem05:

So Tinubu did a good job?

Buhari did a good job?😂😂

Your delusional

Fuel scarcity is worse than ever

Naira is more devalued than ever. As of writing
$1 is 1641 NGN
£1 is 2151 NGN

The country’s GDP has halved since the last brainless elder politician was replaced by another brainless elder politician and you’re saying they did a good job? Nothing about Nigeria or Africa suggests anything about a good job being done. The continent is a lost cause

Inflation is extremely high

The country is finished.

If the elders did a good job, Nigerians wouldn’t have taken the streets not quite a month ago.

And you’re saying what I am making is an excuse?

The difference between Japanese and generally people in other developed countries is that they don’t mindlessly obey their elders like Africans do. Nobody overdoes that whole ‘respect your elders’ more than Africans. In that part of the world, everyone is equal and the elders are fully accountable for their actions. But I can’t say the same for Africa. This whole idea of ‘respecting elders’ and ‘not questioning them’ what has it done for Africa?

You really need to brush up on African politics because your clueless.

That's why he is a corpse🙄🙄🙄

Most of you are so dumb, fuel was as high as 700 naira by 2023, the only difference is, we were borrowing to keep it low.

Now when the borrower now say, you either admit that you are financing it with borrowed money in other to get more, you would rather we keep pretending we have the money, live in the fantasy that we are rich. 🙄🙄

Just deal with it, let everyone be aware, let everyone sit up, let every politician be held accountable, the only reason nobody cared about how politicians spend our money is because, they create an illusion for us and we were living comfortably in it.

Now that the illusion is off, we would rather blame the person who remove the illusion rather than face reality, we will compare when we were in illusion with when we can see the reality.

The reality is, we have lost our way, we have become too dependent on other countries, we are just consumers, we don't produce anything anymore.

In the 18s & 19s, rubber production was at an all time high, now production is almost nonexistent.

Casava, yam, maize, millet, pepper, tomatoes, wheat, soya beans, we have completely left production, even those in the village are only interested in making money, people go to our waters throw dynamite, use chemicals for fishing, nobody is planting trees, some wood at the sawmill are the definition of infant, nobody cares.

In this is allowed, other countries will follow suit, in another 50 years, where will the food be coming from, if all other countries stop production, where will the food come from, you can't borrow money to buy things you don't have and expect everything to go smoothly.

We need to face the music, the first step is to tell ourselves the truth, IT DOESN'T MATTER WHO IS PRESIDENT, THIS IS THE REALITY, I DON'T LIKE IT, YOU DON'T LIKE IT, BUT THIS IS WHERE WE ARE AS A COUNTRY, RATHER THAN PLAY POLITICS WITH IT, WE SHOULD BE HONEST AND RETRACE OUR STEPS.

If you think African youths are respectful perhaps you will need to visit Asian countries.

Start from Japan.

All these and everyother thing you have written so far are all excuses and further proves the point that the elders before you did a far better job than you
Sladem05:

The difference is that in developed countries, they are far more egalitarian. Everybody is accorded the same level of respect regardless of age, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, gender or even sexual orientation. Everyone is treated the same and the elders don’t try and act superior and wiser compared to the youth. The youth are able to put the elders in their place. One problem with African countries is the over-respecting of elders. Africans have given too much power to a generation of people. The elders have formed and oligarchy. Nigeria is an oligarchy. Every African country is like that. Elders control all the wreath and power and use that to oppress the masses. Look at what Tinubu did during END SARS. Nigeria was ruled by old men whom were dictators.

Until the youth of Africa are able to put the elders in their place. Africa will never moved forward as a continent.

And this has nothing to do with blame, this is merely an observation. You’re the one that’s ignoring my points.

You’re ignoring that pretty much every social, political, economic etc problems that exist in this continent is as a result of the elders whether that is corruption, tribalism, insecurity, poverty etc.

How is it the youth’s that their elders of leaders/politicians have mismanaged the country’s resources?

The youth are not to blame for the bad roads, unstable
power, insecurity, lack of vibrant industries, undeveloped infrastructure and pretty much any other problem Africa has. That is the people in charge of the country (the elders). That’s what happens when the elites and politicians (elders) use the funds rather than investing it into the economy and so for the betterment of the people. They use it to fund their extravagant lifestyles.

Tinubu halved Nigeria’s GDP and has already brought on myriad of problems for the country and he’s barely done a year in office.

You can be ignorant and deceitful all you want but it’s not going to change the fact that Boomers and the elders in general destroyed the country and Africa as a whole.

I wish you well.

By the grace of God, you too will grow old one day, perhaps the next generation will also blame you and then the cycle continues.

What developed countries have done is to take responsibility for their situation and ask themselves how can we build on what was done by those before us, not how to destroy what was done because we think they could have done more.

The only countries that believe it is okay to destroy their countries are primarily developing nations with negative mindset.

So like I already said, I wish you well.

By the grace of God, you too will grow old one day, perhaps the next generation will also blame you and then the cycle continues.

Sladem05:

Those problems are there because of the elders inability to A) raise their kids properly and B) provide enough opportunities for them. The elders have failed the country. Bruh they are still recovering Abacha’s looted funds from Switzerland.

African elders amuse me the most because ultimately they control all the wealth and power in the country. Almost all of the politicians, judges, lawyers etc and generally the elite that you find in Africa are old people. The elders are behind all the decision making and the political, economic etc decisions of the country. They claim to be so wise but this ‘wisdom’ of theirs is never really applied into African politics, why? Why can’t they envision a country that is better for their people if truly what an elder sees is what a youth cannot see even when climbing to the top of a tree. What a joke. Look at what the elders did to the continent.
The money that African politicians use to fund their extravagant lifestyle could have been invested for the betterment of the people. All these convoys that you see of of all these elders aswell as pretty much any of their luxuries. It’s not their own. It belongs to the people. They have stolen. You’re defending criminals who loot all of the wealth of the country and take it abroad. Your crazy. All the people that have stolen the country’s wealth
African Elders are doing far worse than the youth. They are behind all of the country’s problems. Look at what Jagabanu and Buhari have done to the country.

God bless the former governors of Lagos who have progressively played their part in developing Lagos.

God bless the present governor of Lagos.

Before I go, it would be nice to have a list of the enemies of Lagos who were even considering replacing this hardworking governor with one intern who is a protege of lamba king. Those kind of people need mental evaluation and some of form of psychological help.

Lamba king at it again. See him doing analysis of 160 vehicles when we now know that he gifted traditional rulers up to 400 vehicles when he was governor.

I know that there are wastage by government particularly the national assembly but the fact is that Nigeria has revenue problem. Of course lamba king will not know that. Even if all the government official reduce cost of governance and work for free, Nigeria needs to earn far more income to make any meaningful development.

Now back to the statement you quoted. Pay close attention to the conclusion and then check on nairaland alone if the prediction did not go as I said it would. Yet no news can tell anything specific rather than just adding past events, putting 2 and 3 together and then jumping into conclusion with no single proof. That events like these happen anywhere is not proof that that is what happened in this case.

Many years from now, some of you will now start to see what the man Tinubu is seeing today.

Like I said I will repeat.
Good leaders take very bold decisions, sycophants play to the gallery, Tinubu is no sycophant.

He took many of those tough decisions in lagos over 20 years ago, Lagos is the better for it now. Nigeria is more difficult but surely and slowly the fruits will manifest.

The countries you call saner countries take very though decisions, at some point China locked themselves in and said if we cannot solve our problems then we die, today they are better off for it.

No free food anywhere.

shortgun:

Get a brain dude. Where is the tough decision when Tinubu is building an irrelevant coastal road at the cost of 4 to 8 billion naira per kilometer.
...the road must be paved with 24 karat gold to worth that much.
Where's the tough decision when Tinubu bought a 15 year old fairly used Tokunbo plane for a whopping 150 billion naira.
