I think we have to enact a law that prevents an administration from borrowing and leaving debt for their successor who will inturn borrow their own.

Any government that cannot raise IGR should go the way of bonds and not seeking international or foreign loans when they know they cannot pay.

That it is not really about increase in salary. As a matter of fact, many of them who have japaed still retain their jobs in NIgeria and do not let go of the so called poor salary.

And your point is??
Health / Re: 67% Of Nigerian Doctors Practice In UK, NHS Will Struggle If They Leave–minister by 9jatriot(m): 5:21pm On Aug 14
That will hasten how quick their money to japa will be complete.

Majority of Nigerians from average or poor background will go abroad whether or not they earn good income in Nigeria. The more they earn, the easier it is for them to go abroad.

Sometimes, even increasing their salary is a problem. Many civil servants who are paid far less than doctors cannot leave because they cannot afford it, doctors are able to leave because they are paid relatively well compared to other civil servants

Ozommadu:

FG should increase their pay 100% first...you can't pay medical doctors peanut while you buy yourself 5bn yatch and pay 90bn for nonsense Saudi Arabia pilgrimage and expect the doctors not to look for greener pastures.

Give them 100% pay raise first

Here we go again. Always trying to make it look as if Dangote held other people's brocus and told them not to invest in the same sector that he is investing in.
As a matter of fact, it has been shown that there is no sector where Dangote is a monopoly. He may have a larger market share but definitely not a monopoly.

If anything, it is even in the refinery that he may even enjoy some sort of monopoly since there are always no one with a working refinery in the country.

he had a monopoly or was part of a duopoly in Nigeria’s food and cement sectors.

Insecurity is our major problem right now. Farmers have to be able to return to their farms.

As for the lazy people who go and hide in cities and expect farmers to invest their lives under the sun for them and sell food cheap, they may be in for a long wait.

Think about it, from the perspective of the few farmers able to farm, this is probably one of their best years, it is the consumers who are crying the most.

MossadAgent:

The reasons for the astronomical cost of food prices in Nigeria is as a direct result of terrorist and bandits harassing farmers.

I have heard some folks say Reino does not have a job that is why he always has time to be attacking Obi but the guy here that wanted to be president, I am not sure what to say about his job status either because he seems to only attend parties and major in minor issues.

How many family members wen de quarrel he go fit visit? There are many families where siblings do not see eye to eye, is he now going to request for a list of them and start visiting all of them?

If this guy had somehow managed to be president, he would have spent more time trying to keep up appearances than actually facing real issues.

Now that like a proverbial dog that has turned against his master, now you guys want to discredit him.

God bless you. The panel had a timeframe, I think they even exceeded and work has been completed. Where they thinking they would be there forever so that they themselves can open their own fraud?

Anyway, news items like this are designed for either people who either have a low IQ or do not at least try to follow the news.

I don't agree.

There was a timeline for investigation and Mr. Obazee had enough of it.

He concluded his investigation and submitted his reports

https://www.arise.tv/nine-months-after-obazee-concludes-investigation-into-cbn-and-related-entities/

If he is again interested in the job, he should come out clean..not all these backend media campaigns

It was reported then, that his team were carrying out "illegal raids" even after submissions of their reports and expirations of their contracts

So, why this news again? If President Tinubu needs his service again, he should reappoint him..but I don't understand this media noise

Because your brother lose election you start saying nonsense. For someone that claims to have Phd in law, this statement is a disgrace. As a matter of fact, steps should be taken to disrobe him.

Your brother had all the time in the world to prove that he won but all that he was practically telling the court to do was ; "I know I lost the election but the winner of the election should have been disqualified. After you disqualify him, jump over the second person (Atiku) and make me presido"

This same guy who claims to have Phd or maybe it is even pull him down (Phd) that he has sef, did not advise Obi's legal team to be serious only to start claiming nonsense.

I wish INEC or the courts for sue him.

Politics / Re: Nigerian Refineries Buying Crude Oil In Naira Changes Nothing by 9jatriot(m): 10:13am On Jul 30
The recovery that is hoped for, (note that I used the word hope because Nigeria matter never follows a straight line) is in the reduction of USD demand that petrol was gulping. It is hoped that if assuming for academic purposes that $1M is what is available for everyone to bid for, and petrol takes up to $600k of that demand, the argument is that if petrol now takes only about $200k of the $1M available then there will now b about $800k available for other ventures that require USD compared to the only $400 available before the refinery came on board.

That is the hope right now.
MasterJayJay:

Garri is not priced by naira-dollar exchange rate. But the crude oil that Dangote will buy is priced by naira-dollar exchange rate.

If you subject any product to dollar exchange rate, I doubt if it can help the naira recover at all.

This is another interesting angle to the discussion.

Nice one. But do Ecowas countries pay each other in USD?
MossadAgent:

Illiterate.

At 600k bpd, the govt can use Dangote refinery to mop up excess printed liquidity from the system.

At $80 and an exchange rate of #1,500, a barrel of crude will go for #120,000. Multiply that with the projected daily processing capacity of 600k bpd that stands at #72bn. Multiply that for a typical long term 30 day order and that translates to #2 Trillion naira monthly and for a year #24 Trillion.

The govt can use just this sales to Dangote refinery to mop up excess liquidity in the system printed from thin air by Emefile .

And when you consider that Dangote will eventually sell most of that refined stock in dollars to neighbouring African countries that will be paid through the CBN, you have a major FX earner for the country and a means to reduce inflation caused by too much money in circulation.

Dangotte Refinery is not coming to reduce the price of PMS. The major advantages are direct and indirect employment opportunities, business opportunities, tax and reducing the amount of forex spent on importation of Crude which is hoped will help the currency to recover.

So stop selling the narrative that petrol will reduce. Ghana, Toogo and Benin Republic even now pay more than we pay for PMS even though they are not richer than us.

MasterJayJay:
Use import duty as an example. Importers pay import duties in naira. But the cost is determined at the current naira-dollar exchange rate.

Dangote will buy crudeoil from NNPC with naira at the current naira-dollar exchange rate.

This won't make petrol cheaper.

Since 1 pound is now 2500 naira, how about you make lemonade from Lemon and export 1000 pound worth of items, that is already 2.5 million naira.

You have to be possessed with the worse demon of envy not to appreciate what this man has done.

There were many folks who were given license to build refineries since 2004/5, rather than build they took the easy route and used their license to become importers and were collecting subsidy, Dangotte on the other hand first bought an ailing refinery which was revoked, rather than start crying he restrategized and undertook to build one of the world's biggest refineries.

If the man decides to sell his fuel at 2k, so be it. Afterall, when you guys import your products, no one fixes prices for you. If you do not like his price, go and also tie your money down while building your refinery.

Another foolish talk.

This represents the way obidients think.

These same set of people would have been claiming "Humble Obi" if he was the one that sat by himself, flew commercial and carried his own bag but because it is another person, they want to twist the story..

The bolded is my thoughts too, however, there is still the issue of insecurity. This would have been an opportunity to ramp up our food production and export
ElSudani:

They are actually poorer than Nigerians. They just don't cry as much as Nigerians.
They are buying our foodstuff because it is cheaper for them.
Where we should see opportunity and produce more for home and for export, what some people see is only to come online and wail from morning till night.

Apart from insecurity, another reason why food is scarce and getting expensive is that virtually all our neighboring nations from Togo, Niger, Senegal, and all find it cheaper to buy our grains and other foodstuff.

On paper these countries are supposed to be poorer than us yet they are able to afford expensive petrol and now they can afford to buy our foodstuff whereas many Nigerians are crying over the high cost of food items

When I was a kid, women in my place used to go to the farm very early in the morning, before sunrise and work in the farm. Some people even had huts there and would roast yam in the farm, work till evening before coming back home. I know of a particular woman who would go to the farm early in the morning and return around 7pm. No government told them to do any of that. Now which woman will dare go to the farm alone and spend all day there for fear of being raped and killed by animals from the arid north.
