hopefulLandlord: These numbers would most likely not stand up to scrutiny. many of these "users" own several accounts. yours truly has 4 (four) different WhatsApp accounts and I'm active in ALL of them so I will be regarded as 4 WhatsApp accounts that's active. Also many of these Twitter accounts are operated by single people many ran by bots even Elon alluded to this and the owners didn't deny.
people also overrate the influence of social media. Social media isn't influencing non social media people as much as the reverse, you think most of these "obedients" who are Yoruba and are criticising Wole Soyinka on SM right now would be doing so in real life and therefore influence Yorubas around them to criticise Soyinka? These social media people try to align with the trends just because they want to swim with the tides and may actually share a different opinion in real life. that probably was why it shocked most people that Ekiti was won by Tinubu when many thought differently. many of them don't share the opinions they post but are just moving with the crowd. add in algorithms that make you see things you agree with and shuts out opposing opinions then you can be deceived into thinking what you're seeing is how the real world is and can be in for rude awakening when it doesn't go that way.
on a slightly related note. I don't know if I'm surrounded by the most idiotic of Tinubu and Obi supporters but anytime I try to pick their brains to confirm the talk of "this generation of youths now think for themselves and will not be told what to think" I can't help but conclude that this is actually the youth that doesn't even know what to think but wait for some social media posts from people who are trying to maintain a particular narrative so these supporters can run with it. that's why a speech of 2hours 30min would be cut to 5 seconds and then go viral that the giver of the speech said something stupid. when you eventually do your own finding to confirm the stupidity of the speaker you'd accidentally confirm the stupidity of those who watched 5 second video and if you dare try to ask "What if this video doesn't show the context?" you'd be hounded for being obeedeeot or agbado. In my opinion this is the dumbest set of youths we've ever had, empty headed people who can't even question anything so long it fits their preconceived conclusions and anybody who doesn't do the same would be hounded, maybe cancelled. Most won't notice this cuz they're inside the game but just stand by and watch them go and you might share the same conclusion as me to a varying degree This your conclusion get k-leg. You're a youth yourself. How many generations (sets) of youth have you witnessed personally at your young age? In the youth demography in every generation of Nigerians, there are intelligent people and less intelligent ones, who are always more in number. There are intelligent and unintelligent people in both Obidient and Agbado camps. How sure are you "this is the dumbest set of youths we've had"? Can you tell us the smartest set of youths we've had and in what year? If you know the dumbest, you most know the smartest as well. I think you're focusing on only the less intelligent ones to draw your conclusion. |

Kepa may be better than Curtois in another universe, perhaps in the dreamland, but certainly not in this Universe containing planet Earth. |

[sub][/sub] Ibime: I just gave you 3 examples that happened literally within the last month
Yes, he has improved in short range, but he is still conceding one long range shots almost every week
Infact I guarantee that opponents are planning and encouraged to try these shots Only two of those three examples happened within the last one month. We played Tottenham in late February, six weeks ago. But I got your point. Kepa is good enough as a second keeper. His shorter arms make him susceptible to conceding long-range shots. |

Ibime: Does Thibaut Courtiis concede long range shots every week
This is the selective sampling I'm talking about
"Oh only 30% of keepers would save that"
When you apply that every week over several weeks, you find that you have a goalkeeper underperforming all taller goalkeepers in long range shots stopping
Courtois may concede one of Kepas goals, but there are others he won't concede, then you'll find another keeper that will concede the ones Courtois will save
In probability, that's like applying an OR function, the probability keeps increasing
"Man Utd to defeat City AND Arsenal" is a lower probability than "Man Utd to defeat City OR Arsenal"
Courtois may concede Nunes goal OR Skipp goal OR McGinn goal, he won't concede Nunes goal AND Skipp goal AND McGinn goal
In all 3 of these goals I just mentioned, you will find a probability to absolve Kepa in each isolated incident, but not all 3 together
Kepa is an ANDroid, a guaranteed probability Okay, Kepa's past mistakes still haunting him. In the past few months, he has improved massively and condeced lesser long-range shots. He deserves to be our keeper, though not the primary keeper if we can get a better goalie. But I think the goalkeeping position isn't our pressing need now. Getting a proven coach, a reliable striker, and a good DM are the top priorities. |

Ibime: Kepa will continue to be blameless and will continue to be the only keeper who concede long range shots every week
Every week we will continue to argue.
One week - "only 10% of keepers will save that shot".
Another week, "only 50% of keepers will save that shot"
Another week "only 60% of keepers will save that shot"
But one thing is for sure is that Kepa will be never be among the percentage that can save the shot
Make those arguments every week and you concede a long range goal every week, and opponents actively try those shots every week Some of the best keepers in the world wouldn't save that shot, oga Ibime. Chukwueze scored a similar goal (the match decider) against Curtois yesterday, who is among the top goalkeepers in Europe. I'm sure if it was Kepa who conceded that goal, some people would have blamed him saying top keepers in Europe would save it. |

FBS: I will respectfully disagree there. That was not just luck. The boys worked extremely hard for that trophy - our very first UCL. That was not only luck, that was hard hard, very hard work. Man I couldn't sleep that night.
Like Mourinho said, in football "you have to win by trying to exploit your qualities and try to hide your problems". We did just that.
The current crop of players don't yet have the balls to put up that kind of performance but anything can happen on the day. Anything. You're right. The players gave everything then. This was what I was hoping the current crop of players would do when Lampard was appointed. But it seems Chelsea as a whole, starting from the management, has written off this season totally. If Lampard can motivate the boys to give their all in the remaining games of the season and there's a significant improvement, that will help his coaching career. |

It's all down to coaching. We've the players to compete and win trophies, but no quality coach. |

FBS: Boli get agenda, just don't know what it is. Man is running this club down with his appointments and obviously thinks this is MLB or some other type of American sports. My hope is that his click will call him to order.
My take on Lampard is that he is doing this because 1. The club approached him and he couldn't say no. Bruno must have said he didn't want to do it. 2. Winning something will be good for his CV, not necessarily as a Chelsea manager. 3. Yesterday's match exposed his acute cluelessness but in times like this I expected the players to step up as well and be accountable.
Our match against Real Madrid will give everyone a definitive answer to all the pending questions. We'll lose both legs against Madrid. Don't give yourself hope unnecessarily. Lampard doesn't have what it takes to defeat Ancelotti's Madrid. This is 2023, not 2012 when Di Matteo used negative football tactics (park-the-bus) and luck to win UCL. Unlike Di Matteo, Tuchel won the UCL for us convincingly and made some other finals showing his winning UCL wasn't by fluke or luck like Di Matteo. I don get all the answers I needed about Lampard: Coaching is not his calling. |

Those clowns managing Chelsea go soon run the club down. Bruno should have been persuaded to continue managing the team in the interim while the club expedites the process of hiring a quality coach.
But no, they had to bring back a Lampard that almost relegated Everton. Boli and his partner na mumu and maga.

You can actually make the same argument for any well-known author in the academic (literary) circles. It's not peculiar to Achebe. |

Theflint1: Those writers are listed, did any of them win the Nobel Prize? We were talking about the complexity of his work, and I brought other writers with equally complex works (some translated texts even), who I enjoy and you're turning it to another thing. The other writers are literary giants as well and are not known on the street. Achebe was a literary giant as well, who is not known on the street. Only few people on the street can mention just the title of a novel written by Achebe, and even fewer people can mention the title of two of his works. That doesn't take anything away from his works. All these writers are popular in the academic circles, not on the street. Street credibility isn't one of the requirements to win the Nobel Prize like WS did or win other awards like Achebe did. You don't have to downplay Soyinka's achievements to praise Achebe's. The fact is a nobel laureate is among the best of the best and will be more celebrated than his peers that were also geniuses but didn't win the most prestigious award in literature. |
