Gortat is a decent center but coming to the Mavs (a contender in the West if we imagine the Lakers are in another conference) would have been a better option because he would have gotten to start now he is destined to be under the shadow of Dwight Howard till kingdom come because Dwight is even younger than Gortat besides we would make do with Gooden who can also backup Dirk for the power forward spot or play as a Center not to mention the fact that he is a better scorer and rebounder either way the Mavs made up for the loss of Bass and Gortat by bringing in two productive players who would boost bench scoring better than Bass or Gortat could ever do

How can you not know Drew Gooden? he was with the Cavs when they got to NBA Finals in 07 infact besides Lebron it was only him and Daniel Gibson that managed
double digit scoring when the Spurs swept em he's almost 28 but an experienced playoff performer.I think Carlisle would have a decent roster to work with this season Lakers are the only clear favorites at this point the other spot in next year's Western Conference Finals is still up for grabs
