It might have to be Upamecano and Saliba. Saliba is a like for like replacement for Varane but the problem is that he has been cold for a month.

There are replacements in defence. The place where we can’t afford illness is in attack. Mbappe, Griezmann, Dembele should be wrapped in cotton wool and they should activate Benzema if he is partially fit. He should be in Doha at least just in case things get worse.

Seems there is a bit of tension between Benzema and Deschamps. Not sure bringing him would be a good idea. Mere looking at their body language when his name is brought up it's not screaming we're missing him and sad he's not able to play so far.

You always need the right balance of exclusivity if you want the World Cup to still hold that prestige. When you turn it to free for all that's when the quality and it's selling point starts to decline. The World Cup shouldn't be an all comers affair that render qualifiers almost meaningless
