nihilistjnr: I'm not trying to win an argument about Biafra.
My position has always been that Nigeria is a useless and unworkable contraption that either needs to be broken up, or accepted as a doomed state.
The argument about the Queen and Biafra for me represents the importance of looking forward instead of back. Unlike in Nigeria, the British crown was more directly involved in the subjugation of India, and up until last week an Indian man was within a hairs breadth of becoming Prime Minister of the country that colonised the lands of his ancestors, and this was after having held and resigned from the 2nd most powerful office in the country.
There's a powerful irony at play here seeing a bunch of Indians (there were 5 in the Johnson Government) colonise thr colonisers. And an Indian is currently the Mayor of London
In the Nigeria of today, a Yoruba man cannot even be Governor of an Igbo state or Vice Versa. Its funny that some people are blaming the Queen and the Colonialists for a war started by people who killed democratically elected leaders and could not then agree on how to rule the country, when a Nigerian can literally move to the UK aged 16 like Kemi Badenoch and become a Minister in the UK Government.
That was what I found so absurd about the underlying premise of Uju Anya's tweet, made from a former British Colony, enjoying thr freedom to marry a woman that she does not even have in the land of her own Birth.
Like me and Roland17, you sef don japa. You sef know the score. If we want to complain about oppression, the worst oppression is to be found at the hands of those who look just like us.
This is ultimately the point I tried to make. Gbam. I couldn't have worded it better myself. Anybody still hollerin about that old mama regarding Nigeria just dey chase clout. It's better you tell me you're upset about how her family treated Princess Diana. That is a more credible argument |

Ordinary small pressure and your tap dancing fraud is already throwing picks. I mean he is struggling to put a horrible Cowboys team that is self destructing with fouls away.
Taaa! Ehn. Masomo! Who has Aaron Fraudgers turned to wine? Brady turned Wes Welker, Julian Edelman to All Pro, Pro Bowlers. Chris Hogan and Danny Amendola to Superbowl winners. All 4 players would be working at Doordash if they didn't have the good fortune of playing with the GOAT. BlueRayDick: If Tinubu is Lagos’ foremost governor , I wonder what we would call Lateef Jakande. That man within 4 years of rule established Lagos state university , built low cost housing estates in Badagry , Iponri , Oke-Afa, Iba , Abesan, Surulere , Epe, Aumwo-Odofin etc, he built general hospitals in Ikorodu , Gabgada and even built health centres scattered around the state . The baba even made free education a must and built more schools and classrooms during that same 4 years . The number of public primary schools increased from 605 to 812
I think how Lateef Jakande performed these feats that now appear like miracle miracle today needs to be studied as a course for our present day politicians . Tinubu is the only 419 governor that gets credit for Jakande's work, gets credit for Ambode and Fashola's work. I've never seen nothing like it. All the structures and everything that made Lagos the supposed megacity were literally built by the military. Lagos greatest governor ever was obviously Jakande but Agbado FC are trying to rewrite history |

We looked better in the 2nd half but that OLine and horrible receivers are saboteurs. Watch the GOAT make one of these scrub receivers great. Lol abeg. Your QB is a one receiver pony. See how he's looking like Ryan Tannehill without Davante Adam's to bail him out Compare him to GOAT Brady. See how he's revitalizing the career of Julio Jones that everyone left for dead. Guys like Julio Jones guys like Odell. Aaron Fraudgers has no pull to bring these great guys that are dealing adversity to his fold. Brady isn't just the GOAT player but the GOAT leader of men If I were you I would be praying fervently that he doesn't use his marital woes as fuel to an 8th Superbowl. BlaqFaze: Mane looks lost in that Bayern attack...he was brought in to replace Lewandowski and he's not performing well at all.
Bundesliga is Bayern's birth right and this is masking the ineffectiveness of Mane in the team.
Salah on the other hand is in a struggling Liverpool side lacking squad depth...but our "renowned football analyst" will say it's because Mane left.
Mane's Liverpool before Salah came were scrapping for wins against the likes of Norwich.
Salah was the magician behind Liverpool's recent successes, he was the main man...in fact he was Liverpool...give him that credit Mane brought in to replace Lewandowski? Any coach or sporting director that expects this ought to be fired on the spot. That's simply not true Mane is a new signing playing a different system. It will take time for him to adjust. What is the squad depth Salah is lacking? Explain. Who are the players they missed that would have stopped them from losing to Napoli and United. Name them. I'll wait Look below at the Liverpool lineup pre Salah. And Mane helped that team to a top 4 finish. We shall see what Salah is able to do with a more loaded squad. We are all watching. Since una no wan respect Mane for the foundation Salah came to build and improve upon Shey Salah was the magician. Let's see what he does without the help of Mane

You think it's ordinary eye. Ok oh You're underestimating how they complemented each other. How Mane's workrate made the game easier for Salah. The fact that Liverpool's midfield was just that, MID and they basically relied on Trent, Salah and Mane to create chances for years now. The new guy they added. He's scoring but how is he combining with Salah? Why are Salah's numbers poor and why is he looking washed? |

In 1969, John Lennon returned the MBE award to the queen because of their involvement in the Biafra war. It is no secret and history doesn’t lie. Several people met with the Queen because of her level of influence.
I have not and will never absolve Ojukwu/ Gowon and other players but that doesn’t absolve the monarchy either. Ceremonial or not, she had good knowledge of what was going on and this is a debate: argument bothered on her role in what happened during the war. That War will forever be a dark spot in our history. It will forever be raw to the people most affected but she was not a primary actor in all of that carnage. Ojukwu deserved far more smoke than she did for all that happened Her anger (if she's legit and not clout chasing) is definitely misdirected if we're being honest. About the Japanese, it wasn’t because of the damage caused by the war, Americans were paranoid that American citizens with Japanese heritage could betray them during the war with Japan, so they rounded all of them up and locked them up in camps, it was after the war that they were released and reparations discussed Ok I remember this story but how does it apply to Nigerians? Do you believe Nigeria is owed reparations. Note I'm only speaking for Nigeria now I can't speak for South Africa, Congo and other places Obviously with slave trade it's a much different argument but remember you're dealing with individuals now and not a country. Most countries were not legalizing safe trade. So where do you start and where do you stop? |

Havertz10: You fail to understand me, i’m more interested in the whole story, the reason i’m happy about prof Uju’s tweet is that her action has taken discuss on the subject mainstream, people from all parts of the world are sharing their thoughts on how vile western nations are, the reality here is that slavery never ended, look at guys today running to western nations looking for a good life, it’s slavery all over again, only that this time they need educated slaves with the means, it’s still the same thing, your only crime was to fall into the wrong gene pool and certain people will forever dominate you, it’s a statement of fact, irrespective of your location I'm not here to whitewash the memories or suggest that these people are saints. But this western nation bashing people do from the comfort of said Western nation without doing some self introspection is just foolishness to me. Victimhood is crack and if you don't wean yourself off of it you will never be free Here you are again conflating Globalization in a capitalist world with slavery. This idea that this world has always been this marxist, communist utopia is just not true. From the beginning of mankind people have always migrated for greener pastures I will agree that as a people blacks and by blacks I mean FBAs are behind the curve a bit. But we live in a time where it has never been easier to be famous, make money and have some fame and notoriety. Anybody still talking about slavery and those tones is just addicted to victimhood and running a finesse. I've never seen rich and successful black men crying about these things. We're never as a generation going to ever experience the real effects of slavery and colonialism on a scale that it was previously experienced. So to continually growl about it today is a criminal waste of our time as a people Havertz10: When we talk about institutional racism it supersedes any effort that African nations can make, the entire system has to be changed, that’s the angle i’m coming at this from, it’s far more than colonialism, the omnipresent shadow nature of racism in our world today isn’t talked about enough, everything feeds of the ideology that i’m better than the next man because I possess certain random features that are prioritized over morality or equity
Agreed Nobody is innocent here broadly, but certain people have been fooling others for centuries into believing that the game is fair and the problem is solely theirs Institutional racism and racism itself is not something that is ever going to die. It will exist till the very end of the world. The issue is certain African nations have been blessed with sufficient natural and human resources to claw their way out of this and we are not using it Morality, Equity and all these other feel good buzzwords we use to trick ourselves. Nothing has ever been fair. We cannot keep blaming the White man for mismanaging not one but two Oil booms. nihilistjnr: The original context of discussion was what Anya said about the Queen. Anya was talking about Britain's involvement in the Biafran war and blaming the Queen squarely for that unfortunate event. Her take, although asinine, has some tenuous links to reality, in that the Queen was the constitutional head of state of a country that provided aid to the Federal Government during the war.
Your take here however, has no grounding within the original context. Slavery in the UK for example was never legal. As early as 1562 Slavery was established as illegal under English Common Law. The vast majority of slave trade related actions happened OUTSIDE the United Kingdom in the middle passage of the Transatlantic Trade -and Britain played a huge part in ending the transatlantic slave trade - almost singlehandedly sef.
You could argue that the British Mercantile Class profited handsomely from selling human chattel, and you could argue that the profits of of the Slave trade found its way back to the UK, but what does that have to do with the Queen - and more specifically, THIS Queen?
How is it that we're going after the Queen of a country where slavery has been illegal for 600 years, instead of the various kings of Nigeria that practiced slave trade aggressively for centuries until that same Britain literally had to use violence to force them to stop
Even after Transatlantic slave trade had ENDED, slavery was still BOOMING in Northern Nigeria. Before you start calling out 'Institutional Racism' that doesn't affect 99.9% of Nigerians living in Nigeria, why are you not worrying about the descendants of the millions of slaves that constituted up to HALF the population of a Nigerian Caliphate?
It doesnt sound as woke, does it? What is funny is majority of the genocide pertaining to her ancestors were and couldn't possibly have been perpetrated by the Brits. This is what happens when you activist to activist. They have no clue what they stand for and what they are fighting against That's how another joker. Havertz10: I have contextual knowledge on colonialism, nobody is pushing surface narratives here, we are only pointing out that people benefited from that system and those same people created structures that enforce and evolve institutional racism today
I didnt know prof Anya prior to yesterday, I only talked about her personal life because most of you left the message and went after the messenger, as far as i am concerned irrespective of her bias, her resentment on this subject is justified, and such line of thoughts shouldn’t be shunned but embraced
Racism is far more than the people that stupidity sold their own brothers but the pigs that took advantage their situations and used it to enslave human beings, reducing such a monumental event to merely who did what is truly sad I'm saying too that if we're going to tell stories let's tell the entire stories not half in half narratives. You can't be whining about colonialism when your own house is not in order. At some point you must also hold yourself accountable to the level you're trying to hold your erstwhile colonialists Don't conflate colonialism and racial issues. Hundreds of millions were enslaved for centuries and somehow, they should let the past be, and we aren’t talking about just the slaves that were bought but his or her descendants
As if that wasn’t enough, you burdened them with loans and actively undermine their progress
Western countries practice QE but global south nations are encouraged to embrace austerity Are you comparing reparations of War? Aren't the Japanese owing reparations as well to the entire South East Asia Hundreds of millions were enslaved by who? You need to drill down these things and stop jumbling them all up. I already told you that our ancestors were also complicit in this trade. I can't speak for the rest of Africa but I can speak for Nigeria. Our misuse of our resources is what led us in this mess not no foreign loans or interference. The British empire is not the reason why we had clueless leaders that have squandered our oil boom and led us indebted to financial organizations around the world |
