Also, a $150bil investment with a a yearly return of like 5% for say the 1st 3-5yrs and rising to say 10% after that is something that the nba players as a product can generate if they start their own league, and that is easily sellable in today's financial market. Any fund manager worth their name will scramble to get some of that action.

PS: The next NBA CBA discussion will be starting by latest next year, we will all see that the players will not lose any ground when it's all said and done, because they have a very strong hand and they know how to play it.

I say all the players association needs to do is go to either Blackrock or one of the emirates fund and guarantee that if they get the funding for a league, every single player in the nba retires from the nba and joins said new league, if they guarantee coaches a union, coaches will absolutely follow them. In case you think it is far fetched, the PGA just saw how easy it is for players to get funding for a competing tour. Aston Martin one of the worst teams in f1, just secured over $600mil in funding for a paltry 17% stake from the same people. So please keep telling yourself the players don't have an option, if they decide to go nuclear the owners will lose, because their investment will become worthless.
That is why it is in everybody's interest to work together and fix the issues that exists without one group acting as if it's an aristocracy.

GP2 is a defensive Savant. Better than Gra Gra Pat bev and Marcus Smart in my books. He was more instrumental to the warriors winning this Title than even Jordan Poole. PS: As for the owners shutting the league down, ask them what happened the last time they tried it, during the last, lock out. In case you didn’t follow the situation, most of the big Euroleague and Chinese teams offered the big name players very good contracts to come over and play for them. that situation in essence was the beginning of the power shift in the NBA, because the big named players who drive the ratings realized that money wise they could get comparable earnings at least for a few months in Europe.

Unfortunately, pieces of that championship team have been hacked off the likes of Otto Porter, GP2 and Bjelica. I would have preferred they traded Moody, a second round pick so as to retain GP2 for another season. The maths with the capspace could be a problem but anything for GP2 who is a legit perimeter defender compared to a Moody who hasn't impressed or a Wiseman that might just be a draft burst with his injuries.

When they did, they did not even give him the courtesy of a heads-up when they found out about the opportunity to make a deal with the Spurs, Masai only called him after the trade was done. So if the teams can trade away a player with 2-3 years left on their contract, a player should also have the same right. Basketball at this level is a profession like any other.
D Same thing happened with Blake 1 month after the Clippers convinced him to sign long term they turned around and traded him with no warning.
If teams wants to include a provision in the next CBA that no player can be traded until after a certain duration of his contract has been played out, then it must be a 2 way thing.

Baba, truth is, when it comes to contracts with superstars and some star players the precedence has already been established and only another round of CBA can change the current situation.

KD is the biggest superstar to request a trade and is rightfully going to command the attention and demands. The Nets are right to seek a haul because of the caliber of player involved in the trade, it comes with the territory.

The owners have to be strong and united during the next CBA to put a stop to this. There has to be a serious consequence on players who seek trades during an active contract.

KD to the Suns is not entirely out of the picture, however, it will take multiple teams, say 3-4 teams to complete the trade. Thing is, KD is going to command a lot and while everyone wants him, only very few teams can afford what the Nets are demanding. The Suns want him because this year might be their last shot with CP3 and they have shown us that Booker is not that guy who can carry a team to a championship.

Running it back with the Nets is not possible if Kyrie is there. But the Nets have made it clear that they want to resolve the KD situation first before Kyrie’s and Kyrie has said he will be fine with staying in Brooklyn. I remember saying on this thread that KD and and Kyrie became distant after the playoffs and have not been close as usual since then. I think everyone involved has come to the conclusion that Kyrie is the common denominator. KD has to take some responsibility for how he allowed Kyrie disrupt their entire season and stayed quiet about it. I don’t expect him to speak about it. I think he believed he could reel the team despite the dysfunction going on.

The management also did a horrible job when the failed to pull the brakes on everyone when the nonsense was going on. Harden left because of Kyrie. He could not deal with it. KD wants stability, I think that is the biggest for him. Also, I don’t think he rates Nash anyways and that is another issue that has not been talked about. The Suns have most of his needs to succeed.

I can see him start the season with the Nets but ultimately leave at some point but for the sake of clarity, it’s best it is resolved before the start of the new season. To your question, yes, Kobe.

Personally I like it for the Cavs, Mitchell can focus more on just scoring improving their firepower, Garland will help remove the playmaking load from him. Also, even if he is just becomes a neutral defender, the twin towers of Allen and Mobley will neutralize any shortfall.
