Ja's Jumper is dodgy for the most part. Runners almost never go in. They had enough time to get a much better shot.

If not for the early recognition by Klay that Ja was getting the ball at that exact point it would have been a free lay up or even a dunk.

A less than intelligent defender might have been a microsecond late in recognising and that is all Ja needs to blow by you.

I chalk it down to inexperience but that was a very bad shot to take. Jaren Jackson was wide open in the corner, Brandon Clarke was wide open for a dunk as well but Ja was just full speed ahead with the only option of a dodgy runner. That shot didn't have a prayer

That's what separates Giannis from past greats and even the old form of Giannis. This present Giannis has the memory of a goldfish. He remembers nothing beyond the last 2 minutes and just keeps attacking. He will put all of your bigs in foul trouble if need be.

Finding ways to make Giannis commit charges and offensive fouls is your only way out of his problem and hacking Giannis eliminates that

Personally, the Jazz needs to get someone in their development program who can work with Gorbert on just his PnR action, both as an effective roller and also making him at least comfortable with the ball in his hands within 5ft of the rim.
If he can just be even 50% when he has the ball with his feet on the ground within 5ft and they solve the wing defense they might just be able to keep both of their 2 stars.

He needs to have something. A jump hook. A 8 to 10 footer. Something to punish the opponent for hiding defenders on him.

It's a risky strategy in that Giannis ft shooting ebbs and flows. If you deploy hack a Giannis when he's in rhythm you're just putting your team in foul trouble for nothing while you have to work for your buckets on the other end.

The way Celtics defended and collapsed the paint on Giannis was great but it's also a pick your poison thing. Giannis is now an excellent passer that's very skilled at finding the open man. The kind of wide open shots Allen, Portis and Connaughton were getting you would have to be an Westbrick level to miss

The body language and bumps and bruises I saw the Celtics take. If I'm Bucks I'm coming out to steal Game 2 as well. Smart, Brown, Tatum all looked like they were facing more than they bargained for

Did you not see who was guarding Gorbert down the stretch, they put Doncic on him and the few times he got the ball he was still not comfortable taking it to the basket. If he cannot score against an average defender who he has at least 6 inches on and is more athletic than, then there is no need feeding him the ball.

I understand Gobert's handles are dodgy. I pointed it out as well. I'm just saying that they have to find ways to incorporate him to the offense somehow. Otherwise it's no point playing him. I don't see why Gobert and Mitchell cannot have a PnR game running at all

The Jazz as a team defensively has 1 major strength and that is, Gobert at the rim and they also have 1 major weakness, which is perimeter defending. So any team that wants to beat them, when Gobert is on the floor has to do it from about 8ft out, which is how Denver and the Clippers did it in back to back seasons. The midrange jumper, runner or floater are all harder shots to make than a set 3 pointer.
That is why apart from Doncic, Brunson and sometimes Dinwiddie all the role players from the Mavs will mostly take the set 3 because it's a more efficient shot especially against the Jazz. At least that is the way I see it

I said that initially. I think it's an open secret that the Jazz lack the ability to contest or run teams off the 3pt line. I made reference of the Clippers doing the same thing last season.

The issue was the Jazz were shooting at a low clip and didn't at least try to feed Gobert some easy buckets. With the Mavs lack of size it's a warcrime for a 7'2 center to be averaging single digits in the series

According to multiple reports Joel Embiid suffered a right orbital fracture after colliding with Raptors Siakam in game 6 and is now out indefinitely.

He was doing bird man celebration up 29 with less than 4 minutes to go. I don't know what Doc's plan was but I'd like to believe they would have held on to a 20pt plus lead in the last 5 minutes even without Embiid. As it stands the Heat might have been spotted a game or 2 just like that

I agree with what Chuck said, the Grizzlies are doing it with S. Adams who has not been involved in the Timberwolves series. At the end of the day, something has to give. While they have both core players tied long term, I think they need to move one of them, Donovan if you ask me. I have been saying this for 2 seasons now, it is best to break this team.

The Gobert contract was a nasty overpay. Gobert too had yet to add any extra wrinkles to his game to have the moral standing to demand the ball. His handles are still a bit dodgy and he has no real post game to speak of. There is also need for him to evolve

Whatever beef Mitchell and Gobert have they need to squash it because I don't see a team that takes on Mitchell or Gobert with that 5 year deal
