Not making excuses for the bums but do you blame them entirely? Their leaders are worse and are the reasons why the Army and by extension the entire military is in such mess! Rather than being on the front line, their leaders are busy accumulating unexplained wealth and properties in the midst of penury suffered by the soldiers. Since lower cadre soldier lack the ability to loot not because of the lack of will but a lack of reach, they can only show/impose relevance by doing stupid things. There is absolutely no accountability in the military, if there was, there would be no reason why we should be fighting Boko Haram for nearly 2 decades.

That country have been sleeping on Boko Haram until recently when their solders were killed and decided to wake up from their slumber.Boko Haram had been using their territory to launch attacks for a long time. I don’t think we have ever been in this situation before in our entire history as a country. I don’t think we have ever been in a situation where we lack ventilators in the country. afrodoc2 & Unlimited22 can shed more light on that.

This is not even about defending the govt, shouldn’t the govt be making efforts to get ventilators anywhere they can get? Is it until we have a spike in cases before they start looking for ventilators?

The current reality is that we don’t have up to 500 ventilators in the whole country, maybe we should wait till people starts dieing before we start looking for where to get ventilators.

The problem with critics is that you people conflate issues together.

It’s not like the $27bn loan was just considered today. When that loan package was drawn up, there was no covid-19 pandemic.

Go and read up the history of the loan. The initial loan FG sought approval for was $30bn from the Saraki led senate and only $7.3bn was approved from the loan. The rest were just reintroduced last year ending for consideration by the new senate.
