I disagree with your opinion about J. Toews's contract, he earned that contract with magnificent plays during our title winning seasons, he is the captain of the side, and deservedly so.

A clear out is inevitable but more importantly J. Quenneville has to become flexible with his rotation and line changes. It was not the fact that we got swept, but the fact that a high octane offense could not muster goals irrespective of Pekka Rinne's form during that series. Saad's return is hinged on the hope that it revives P. Kane, which i think would help.

I don't think we have a bad roster, i just think we have to figure out what to do with C. Crawford, especially during the playoffs. If you remember, i had hesitations about the guy and he proved me right.

Hossa is going to be a big loss, however, at 38 i don't think he has the strength to continue especially while dealing with a skin disorder.
I'd say he earned it to an extent but why I say its bad is because it gives the team very little wiggle room to work with. Toews cannot be dropping less than 60pts in a season with arguably one of the top 5 salaries in hockey. He has to always produce wine from water else na cap gymnastics una go do till Kingdom come. Plus his numbers have never stood out let's be honest. Na ironmen like Duncan Keith and Brent Seabrook dey cover him yansh

This past season sef Patrick Kane was actually una main guy and even the season before when he was MVP. He is the only one playing to his contract. Saad was brought to revive Toews

Your roster is still elite. Only big issue is goaltending, Crawford's backup is gone so if he messes up na problem. Still think Hjalmarsson was a big loss too

As for Hossa his injury has actually freed some cap space

ISO players who would get pummeled on transition, you dey even talk offense!!!
I would only be worried if they traded Love to get a guy like Porzingis and still add George. Make no mistake the Warriors would be even better next year, I expect guys like McCaw and Clark to improve in their 2nd and 3rd year. Klay and Dray are only 27. LeBald is already pushing 33, Melo 33. J.R 32. Oh well we dey here

Wetin do your Blackhawks? Is it cos of that small sweep they want to tear down the roster? Suprised y'all traded Panarin and Hjalmarsson. That deal wey una give Toews is starting to look like a bad one. Especially when you look at what Crosby is doing with rookies and second year guys. While Toews is struggling. I don't believe Saad's return automatically fixes it

Nope, doesnt matter. These aren't the piston bad boys anymore.
Every roster undergoes a makeover at some point. The Bulls did, Spurs did. They didn't stop winning. All I see is excuses

Ersan:
Nope, not enough. Not the same team.
Well that's too bad. We don't care

Ersan:
Make up your mind.
From 2010 to 2014. The Miami Heat were the best team in the league. You have failed to show a team that was consistently better

Ersan:
Yuup, but KG made it there on merit not because of pity, nostalgia or sentimentality like the mamba did.
What merit? There were other players more deserving. He got there on the back of his rep

Ersan:
Players age differently, jordan was good at 36, deron williams once a premier pg is now utter shit. Garnett was still really good.
I don't care how they age. They were no match for the Heat. Neither was Rose and Luol Deng

Ersan:
Gambling addicts always owe somebody something. That aside, he is who he is and with such greatness other things are expected of you. He clearly is not man enough to accept these responsibilities.

In my lifetime African football has never had good administrators, South America does not have good administrators yet they still do relatively well

US and some European countries, have excellent administrators yet they dont do anything

Gragra football is not talent. Cerebral football is what I call talent, players like Kanu(my best Nigerian player) had it from the streets of Owerri without any administration which is why he was one of the most celebrated players from Nigeria

Right now, how many Nigerian players are regular first team players playing in any first division in the leagues in Italy, England, Germany Holland, Spain Italy

Around 1996 to 2002, Several of our players were playing REGULAR first team football in top clubs, Oliseh Dortmund, Kanu Arsenal, Taribo Inter, Finidi Betis, Babangida Ajax, Ikpeba Dortmund/Monaco, Babayaro Chelsea, Amuneke Barcelona, Okocha PSG, Akpoborie Stuttgart etc

Thats almost 11 players I named off the top of my head who were playing elite top level football, Was the administration good or better at that time?

That's why I just think administration is just a convenient excuse. I think we lack genuine talents. We only dominate age groups because we lie about ages.

Chrisantus, Haruna Lukman, Rabiu Ibrahim, all got good breaks after the U17 world club, they were picked up by European clubs they all failed. Stanley Okoro set too same thing It was the same type of tournament where Kanu, Babayaro, Oruma went from to Europe and excelled

Can we just be honest and admit we dont have genuine talents anymore. Maybe in the future we will get lucky again. And its not a terrible thing to admit

Brazil the home of football recently went though their own talent drought, Italy too is currently going through their own minor drought, Germany went through theirs
Nigerian Football was very organized back in the day. We had age cheats but at least we had a system. People forget that as per that 94-96 team the foundation for that squad was built from 89-90. Those stars didn't come from the moon.

We had age grade comps. We had YSFON that brought Amokachi, Babayaro e.t.c

Cycles end and countries go through lulls but it is your level of organization that determine how long you stay there

I always hear this mantra that poor administration is why African football is terrible. Do you believe this or it's just a case of we don't have the talents
We have enough talents to do much better but like every other thing in life talent alone is never enough.

Administration is a massive issue. No structure, no deliberate plan for the short or long term. Its just a mirror of the larger society to be honest.

After USA 94 if they told me Nigeria or any other African team would not get to a World Cup semi I would not believe it

Nope. Without laimbeer and vinny and isaah their star player playing like a bum they didnt stand a chance. The team wasn't the same face it. Their record proves it. The year after they werent even the second best team.
They were all present for the sweep. Secondly their subsequent decline was not irredeemable.

Aguirre - 31
Rodman - 29
Thomas - 29
Dumars - 27

That is enough core to build around. Championship teams lose role players every year. Your excuse ain't a tenable one

Ersan:
Of course he still played regardless of how he played he was their star player but he went from averaging 20 in playoffs to 13. Every shooting stat of his fell.

Laimbeer and mahorn aged. Isiah as we know was still suffering the effects of his injury. Isaiah was also pretty bad on his own.
More excuses. They had Aguirre (career 20ppg scorer) and Finals MVP Joe Dumars

Ersan:
So i was right, he didnt have the best squad in the league.
Nope. The Heat from 2010 to 2014 were the best team and most loaded team in the league

Ersan:
garnett, paul pierce and ray allen. The original big 3. A bunch of OAPS with two all stars in their prime grin

KG alone had 15 and was still an all star in 2011 and even 2013. This is who youre calling an OAP.

Pierce 10 total, still an all star in 2011.

Allen, 10 total, still an all star in 2011.
Lewl. Kobe was an All star in 2016.

K.G was 37 in 2013. You can't be complaining about the Pistons decline when all 3 Celtics were older than the Bad Boy Pistons roster

Bob Myers with his smart moves and decisions be making it look like other GMs came to sell groundnuts. If he polishes his offense and works on his core strength, I think Zaza and Kevon Looney would be out.
That would likely come with time. I would offload Looney and Zaza quick. Keep McGee and West on the minimum and hope guys like Clark and McCaw keep making leaps. I would hope for Iggy and Livingston to stay but I suspect Livingston might want one last pay day having won 2 rings and resurrected his career from the dead. Iggy is 95% likely to stay.
SportsRe: The NBA Begins by A40(m): 6:26pm On Jun 25, 2017
I have to trowey salute for the job Bob Myers is doing. The Jordan Bell pickup was brilliant. Laimbeer and vinny. Losing two core players? Salley and edwards were part of the dynasty and left. They may not have been the core but their exit took a toll on them.
Grant and Armstrong also left the Bulls. They didn't fade to irrelevance

The Pistons didn't just step down. They were overthrown. Don't paint it like they left while they were ahead
Ersan:
They had the best player in the league and pippen.
Pistons had Isiah, Dumars, Aguirre. Enough to build around.

Ersan:
Have a quote from a 1991 article that sums up the isiah thomas and bad boys your flat track bully faced.

Somewhere in the painfully sore right wrist of guard Isiah Thomas are a pair of floating ligaments that have dared become detached from their rightful resting place, thus explaining why Thomas' shooting of late would qualify him for membership in the NBA Bricklayers' Union. grin

Not that this is at all humorous, unless you are an NBA player and you take your mail in Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia or Milwaukee.
Can't be bothered about some article when Isiah's minutes tell another story

Ersan:
Who exactly do you think were the core of the bad boys era?
Everybody knows Laimbeer, Rodman, Mahorn were the lynchpins. However they still leaned heavily on Dumars, Isiah and Aguirre for buckets. All that badness is useless if you can't score buckets

Ersan:
Spurs?
Of course. I'd throw in the Warriors too

Lol! They had the reach and the build. Jordan is just not strong enough. Stop it with this funny argument about jordan guarding centers.
The build? The Worm had the reach not the build, Ben Wallace the build not the reach. At each turn they gave away at least 50 pounds. Mind over matter

M.J is a SG. That's not his brief

Ersan:
Lol! He will still have that brain. He will still have his passes. Lebron without his athleticism is still magic johnson.
As a passer perhaps. On defense? You're dreaming

Ersan:
You misunderstand me. Jordan stopped, he didn't guarding.
He could guard if need be. However its not smart to put your best scorer and SG on a Center. My point is made

Ersan:
So did magic. So did wilt, so did hakeem, so did shaq. Are they all goats?
Magic was the best till the G.O.A.T came sorta like John the Baptist

Ersan:
West was NOT his size. He was taller and stronger, Why waste your energy guarding west any way?
I thought he could guard anybody? Lmao West was 34, is only 1 inch taller. They weigh the exact same thing. Try another excuse

Ersan:
There is no player in the NBA he cant effectively guard if he wishes too. Except you know the players you just cant guard.
LeBald can't guard anybody he can't bully. He is a rubbish one on one defender. Help D and weakside blocks is where he excels

Laimbeer? your goats nightmare?

Vinnie johnson? who by the way was waved after 1991.

James edwards traded in 1991.

Salley left in 1992.

Rodman in 1993

Isaiah thomas was injured in 1991 when the bulls won, swept the pistons BTW.
I listed the core of the team who were still young. The core was intact! Bar Vinny and Laimbeer the rest were replaceable. You even listed Salley and Edwards. Lmao oh boy, Desperate times call for desperate measures. Why didn't the Bulls fall apart when Paxson, Armstrong and Horace Grant left. Since we are focusing on role players

The same Isiah Thomas that led the walkout? These were Isiah's minutes

Game 2 - 27

Ersan:
Nope. You can't have 6'6 Jordan at the post marking a 7 footer. Once a good passer spots the mismatch he'll just pass over him for an easy bucket. Size has a lot to the with it.
I have proven to you that the G.O.A.T could do it in spurts and out of necessity if need be, defense is mostly mind over matter that is why Ben Wallace and Dennis Rodman at 6'7-6'8 could render Shaq completely useless

Ersan:
LeBron, the greatest basketball mind to grace the court doesn't know the fundamentals of defence? You may fault his execution but don't fault this man's knowledge.
Lmao. Bron is a help defender! You would see how useless he becomes when his athleticism leaves him and he can't make those weakside plays no more

Ersan:
Guarding and stopping are different things. Jordan can't handle hour dimes or collect boards like LeBron can. He's attack minded.
LeBald did not stop anybody either. Klay played good D doesn't mean he stopped Kyrie. The G.O.A.T's numbers were above average for his position. Under Phil emphasis is not on assists go and check his title teams. B.J Armstrong, Ron Harper, Derrick Fisher were the PGs and nobody dominating assists in all 11 titles he won

Ersan:
LeBron like he always explains is a true triple threat. A combination of all time greats. Put the mailman, magic, Jeffrey and a little Shaq in one person. That's the greatness that is LeBron.
That is another reason he is not the G.O.A.T. The G.O.A.T is not like anybody! Think about it! There is nobody saying his game is like this and that. He made his own lane
Ersan:
West averaged 16 a game. He was bigger and stronger. LeBron admitted guarding him had a toll on him. But I think his goal was just to stay with him rather than lock him down because it will wear him down on the offensive end.
LeBald always has issues guarding ninjas his size. This is why we tell you he is a help defender. Na beg dem dey always beg am just to play at PF despite being built like a Center

We've seen 67 win teams lose in the first round. This 73 win argument is tired. The Heat were the most loaded team in the league. FACT

34, 35, 36. With 1000's of mileage on their creaky bones. Allen and K.G were in their 16th year in the league. 16!!

Everybody can't be like the G.O.A.T that still did it at 35. He's the exception not the norm

Their record fell they year he won. They werent as dominant or effective as they used to be. As a team reliant on physical play they werent the same. Like you said, they never recovered.
And I'm sitting here wondering how any of that is the G.O.A.T's fault. They got to 3 straight Finals so they were a great team. They weren't old so you can't even use their age as an excuse

Ersan:
Exactly, and he never was able to do anything against them, why hold lebron losing to great teams against him?
He eventually did. That's what counts

Ersan:
The GOAT in his prime shifted the balance of power to his conference. Celtics, Pistons were multiple title winning teams in contention in the East. Tell us what has been LeBald's competition coming out of the East?
Because you said this, the balance of power was never in the wests favor to begin with.
Maintained the status quo. Either way what is bleeding obvious is the competition was tougher in the East so your first round argument falls flat on its a$s

Ersan:
Lol! if lebron wasnt there these are the teams that would make finals appearances.
And woulda promptly gotten bounced by any Western team

Good. Golden State with the inclusion of K.D, West, Pachulia were still finding their stride. Still won 4-1
