I dealt with this earlier. We are on the same page accepting that shoring up the central midfield was a huge decision. I made a public declaration stating I am now in the camp calling for a new midfield.

I also stated earlier that we both agree that Oscar, Ramires and Mikel need upgrades. So I don't disagree that this was fundamental.

I also believe at the same time that fortifying the wings in depth is as important as the central midfield.

It's not as easy as saying City won without Silva, so we can without Hazard. Milner and Navas have 6 and 5 assists respectively. Milner especially who achieved that in only 998 mins. Schurrle has 0 assists in 428.

City have strength in depth on the wings with folks who come in and provide 11 assists combined when Silva is not playing. Our back up wingers in Andre and Salah have 0 assists. Our other first choice winger in Willian has played only 66 minutes less than Navas but only has 1 assist. See the numbers below.

This is why my point is valid. Unless we go out in the window and buy a central midfielder who can deputise on the wings, If Hazard gets injured, we are in deep 5hit. This is why we need to buy quality wingers as much as we do CMs.

Albeit I hardly holler that, I believe there is some truth to that claim.

This is my logic; No German team compares with Bayern at the moment, the difference is a gulf. That all German teams in the UCL advanced to the KO stage doesn't in anyway take away the fact that Bayern are the team to beat in the Bundesliga.

In a group that had Galatasary and Anderlecht, it was always going to be Arsenal and Dortmund for qualification. Schalke needed Chelsea's favour to progress. Neverkussen's group was a collection of 'Europe's underachievers', there was no single top club in that group.

You pretty much know that these teams are riding their luck, and it's only a matter of time for them to get blown away, just to leave the best team from Germany in the competition.

That's exactly what happens when you have one decent team running your league. I don't blame nor envy you guys for this dominance, I only blame the other teams who have refused to evolve and take a giant leap.

I think people are clutching to an extremely small sample size here! If we bring out the stats over the last decade and a half a similar pattern would emerge in pretty much all the leagues in Europe. Most people chanting this one-team league megedefegede were not doing so when Dortmund were dominating, also Bayern's dominance has extended to Europe and the World stage so its not like we are some local champions

Schalke earned a point at the Bridge and that was the difference maker IMO. Neither Maribor nor Sporting did that!

I don't know your definition of top clubs but Neverkussen's group was the most balanced of the lot. We have seen Chelsea, Liverpool, Man U and Man City fail to qualify from weaker groups in recent times

Are they riding on luck? I don't know Barca or Madrid would destroy any team in Europe on their day! Maybe Schalke and Neverkussen get blown away same way Arsenal and Man City with far more resources get blown away! What's the difference?

These two teams have been quite consistent and are ruthless at home.

Dortmund's form has been fickle in the league not the Champions League where they have not been found out yet

Neverkussen have a chance against Porto who are not exactly heavyweights

All in all my point is calling the BuLi a weak league is starting to look ridiculous now when all 6 reps are through to the next round a feat no other league accomplished and the second year in a row all German teams are advancing to the next round.
