About time other German clubs pulled their own weight. Daddy Bayern cannot do it every time

Starting XI
Neuer - Lahm, Boateng, Dante, Alaba - Martínez, Schweinsteiger - Robben, Müller, Ribéry - Pizarro

On paper, Man City's team is a joke to Real Madrid. I can't believe someone said otherwise.
Hell naah! U can't be serious man! Madrid edge the defence. Their midfield is level and their attack is slightly in favor of Madrid because of the Ronaldo factor
Overall however Man City are deeper and can rotate their squad. Can you imagine a Madrid team without Ronaldo and Ozil?

thegoodjoehunt: The penalty Man City got against Dortmund, wasn't dubious. Answer these question honestly.

If Subotic's arm wasn't in the way, would Aguero have Scored?

As for me Yes he would have scored and Subotic's arm would have stopped a clear goal. So it is a penalty. It is a different case if the ball is crossed and strikes the arm of a defender. This was a clear shot on goal.
Clear ball to hand! abi he go comot him hand put am for pocket. That ball was not even goal bound which was the most infuriating part! Anyway these things even themselves out as we saw yesterday
I think Mike Vick Could Flourish in a Sean Payton type Offensive Scheme. (With SP)

Vick isn't a Good Fit for Andy's system....Reid is a Bit Dated(Imo) with his Philosophy

As far as ya Question, would i trust Mike Vick to throw the Ball on 3rd and Long....Sure
Would I trust him to Throw on 4rth and Goal from the 9 Yard Line in the Red Zone......No...LoL grin
Remains to be seen IMO. Don't think Mike Vick is that bad a fit for Andy's system. The team is just underperforming as a whole! The defence, special teams everybody! I look at guys like the Bears the Texans (JJ Watt! That beast! DPOY-elect) they haven't had spectacular QB play either but other guys have picked it up. Back to Vick remember 10 season he did quite well and was a good red zone throw away from the NFC champs
His Pocket Awareness Isn't as Good as Big Ben's,RGIII,Brady,Manning,Brees ,ect either........

I don't really think it's his arm as Much as it is His Mind and Ability to Read Blitzes.

He was always blessed with immortal Athleticism which prevented him from properly Developing a Natural Awareness regarding Pass Rush(Pre-Snap Assignments)

Great Quarterbacks Avoid the Sack Prior to the Ball even Snapped, just by reading Blitzes and foreseeing the Defensive Approach beforehand.

He Lacks That
Lol aside pocket presence and ability to read blitzes his arm strength is also poor! Its been that way most of his career anyway he's always been a rushing QB IMO as his rush TD's show. Guys like Romo,Rivers,Cutler good-average pocket presence,good-poor ability to read blitzes but high arm strength which is why they post high pass yds and TD's and also high turnovers
Plus Vick is like 6ft flat hardly helps his ability to see the field
Add that, with the fact during his younger years he was never really a Classroom/Filmroom Study Kind of Guy.....Like uhh Let's say.. a Peyton Manning...for example lol

Had Mike Took his x's and o's more seriously during the maturation of his early years in (Hs,C,Pros) he could have been one of the real ALL TIME greats....

It's not his Arm, It's his Work Ethnic and Study Habits that were always Lacking (Imo)
I cosign on most of what you wrote except the arm strength part! That's not an attribute you can teach. It can be honed if you have it but if you don't there isn't much you can do

Please Man City was suppose to win this game. It was not their fault the Referee Chalked off a goal and denied them two clear penalties. Please don't be biased in your analysis.

So in a group of death, any team can faulter.
Ninja please! Didn't Man City get a dubious penalty that earned them a draw at home to Dortmund

thegoodjoehunt:
This is a funny statement. No team will find it easy in that group, not even Barcelona. So what lesson are they learning. Is it the lesson Manchester United learned from Otelul Galati or FC Basel.
Hehehe a financial bully like Man City is complaining of bullying? its a disgrace especially if you look at the fact that on paper Man City actually have the strongest squad in the group. Even last season they had no business not qualifying from their group because aside Bayern you would expect them to beat the other teams with the talent at their disposal! The fact that you are defending and excusing their failure is laughable

Vick's Intermediate accuracy is Very Poor, His Deep Accuracy is above Par.
Would you trust Vick with the ball 3rd down and a lot?? grin grin I like Vick but let's face it he can't rush as good as he used to and his dodgy arm just makes matters worse
If you are gonna win the Superbowl stats clearly show you need either a strong defence or a QB that can throw the ball sadly the Eagles have neither

Your comparisons between Henry and Podolski have been exposed as absolute malarkey! Not only was Henry younger but was not even a starter at his initial arrival

What else?? The average world class player is not playing for a relegation contender at 27! You even brought up Luca Toni which was actually the coup de grace to your argument as Luca Toni was never world class at Palermo,Brescia e.t.c

Mike Vick! Da phock? Handed the Saints their fewest points allowed. Was damn near killed out there! 7 sacks,a fumble an interception,4 1st and goal opportunities and couldn't score a TD. Man if I was coach I would definitely bench Vick for a game at least! Enough is enough

debosky: Yawn.

I'm bored with this - what is clear is that you're making things up as you go.

First we should expect Poldi to settle faster than Henry (implying he didn't) then when shown that he did settle faster, you claim the comparison shouldn't have been made. Next creating asinine, arbitrary, strawman rules about no 'top' players being 27 at relegation teams (no mention of when they were top players) but when given proof of a top player in a lower division, you claim 'most people' wouldn't call him top class - after scoring 20+ goals per season in Serie A and Bundesliga and winning the World Cup with the golden boot. Like I said, keep making it up.

Poldi has had a decent start thus far in the EPL and CL for Arsenal - he will improve and we'll revisit this at the end of the season.
Luca Toni won the golden boot at the World Cup? Which World Cup? Beach soccer one or what? Debosky go and sleep I go treat ur phuck up for morning tongue tongue

Roland17: Honestly that Bountygates messed up the Saints, Personally i think the problem started before the season when the media insinuated the saints would not miss S.Peyton and Joe Vitt cos they have leadership in Drew Brees(which is undoubtedly true from a player's point of view and not coaching), if only S. Peyton had told the commissioner the truth, rather than lie through his teeth.
I still give it up for Drew, that dude is stud, i don't expect much from him this season, i trust they would come back stronger next season.
am looking forward to tonight's game(there's so much as stake).
On any given Sunday the QB is no match really for any defensive coordinator that knows his onions If his defensive unit executes. Coaching matters a lot in the NFL! Look at guys like Bellichick,Dick LeBeau,Tom Coughlin,Payton,Jim Harbaugh their teams are where they are because of them more or less
This season is more or less gone for the Saints! The Falcons have the South,Niners should get the West,Giants the East and one of the Vikings,Bears or Packers the North. They just have to ride this one out and wait till next season although I still think their defensive coordinator whoever he is has done a terrible job this season! Drew has been balling but the D has been atrocious
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by A40(m): 11:40pm On Nov 05, 2012
debosky: So I should be sad when a player scores for Arsenal? huh undecided Because a bitter ex-fan like you don't like him? Podolski's quality is not in doubt as far as I'm concerned - like I said, we'll see at the end of the season and judge then.
I'm not asking you to be sad! Just saying you should be able to take what you dish out so when you brag and question our footie knowledge when Podolski is having a purple patch! Be ready for an inquiry when he is having a drought

debosky: I don't know - it depends on a variety of factors. Simple check of history will show examples where young players have adapted faster or slower than older players. There is no hard and fast rule about it. Again this is elementary, but you'll invent any rubbish to support your views.
You are just being vague ninja! Older players or players generally regarded to be in their peak are expected to settle quicker! This is hardly rocket science and I don't think you are that desperate to dispute that

debosky: So now you've shifted the goal post after I've shown that Poldi's early goal scoring record is better than Henry's? Poldi is world class - if you don't like it, go hug a transformer. tongue
Naaah! Ur comparison was waay off!! 1)He was younger
2) Henry was not a starter in his early Arsenal days unlike Podudski

Of course at a low expectation having club like Arsenal Podolski can be world class. At Bayern he won't even be good enough to ride the bench but I can't blame u sha. Yoruba would say Oun ta ni la n gbe laroge ;P

debosky: You are the disgrace - I told you earlier that you can't expect every player's journey to be the same or are you suffering from astigmatism? Luca Toni is a top player - he was playing at a relegation team at 27 - those were the parameters. This renders your daft comments about 'top' players not being at relegation clubs at 27 absolute rubbish.
Debosky the jester! Luca Toni was not a top player at 27 there was nothing to suggest he would actually amount to much at 27 so comparing him to Podolski borders on madness really considering the fact that Podolski was supposed to be the next big thing! Most people wouldn't even call Luca Toni world class in the first place

debosky: . My comparison with Henry was a trap and you fell for it without knowing the underlying reasons.
Please stop flattering yourself will ya

Roland17: Vick's career with the eagles i believe is now firmly on the line, if he does not turn the tide around especially with his turnovers and pass interception before the end of the season, i bet he would not be with the eagles next season, there is a clause in his contract that says the eagles can drop him without any financial responsibility, i think that's the card Jeffrey Lurie would be playing.
I expect him to show up tonight! The Saints D couldn't stop a nosebleed!! Whether it would be enough for the W remains to be soon as the Eagles D isn't much better. Sad to see the mess Bountygate has made of the Saints and one of my fave QB's Drew Brees

debosky: All players need adjustment - if that's your bone of contention, you have no point here. Secondly, let's wait till the end of the season before deciding whether Poldi is able to adjust or not.
So the question begs why where you dancing oppa gangnam style when Podolski bagged a few goals and even subliminally questioning niggas for doubting Podudski's quality?

debosky: Really? Did you just pull this one out of thin air? cheesy
If you bought a Mario Gomez at 27 and say a Mario Gotze or Andre Schurrle who would you expect to adapt quicker?

debosky: Ok - let's say I even agree with this made up nonsense, Henry scored zero goals in his first 8 games, Poldi scored 4 goals in his first 8 games for Arsenal FC. Is that not evidence of 'quicker' adaptation,
without even considering the lower quality squad Poldi plays in compared to Titi in 99/00?
Henry was not even a starter and was hardly "world class" like you labelled Podolski when he joined Arsenal

debosky: Different players pursue different paths - it is quite foolish of you to expect all players to follow the same route. Luca Toni was 27 when he was playing in Serie B for Palermo wasn't he?
You are a disgrace Debosky! Comparing a late bloomer like Luca Toni to Lukas Podolski! Was Luca Toni even rated at 27?? Had he been awarded Young Player of the Tournament at a WC? Had he played at any top European side? Did he have international caps?

When I say CL, I mean the European Cup not just the CL as we've come to know it as
Or did the European only start when Uefa changed it's name?
So Juve having won only 2 European Cups in its History is a disgrace.
You say they are pants but they've been to six European Finals (4 in the UCL) and have won every club competition organized by UEFA along with Bayern and Ajax.

chic2pimp: Well at least it's 2 in 8 years not 2 in a lifetime.
Its a bigger disgrace! League titles are 10 times easier to win than the UCL

debosky: Do I now need to tell a supposed football analyst like yourself that all players need an adjustment period? Is that the point you're trying to make? undecided
But he was World Class not too long ago! Anyway that's how he tried adjusting at Bayern too and we saw the result. You where bragging when he hit a purple patch with a few goals earlier in the campaign and I didn't hear adjustment talk so you can't eat your cake and have it

debosky: There is nothing laughable in the comparison - the fundamental element of requiring adjustment to a new environment doesn't disappear simply because you are older. Henry was an international too - don't know what 'established' means, but I don't know how many players end up as their team's leading scorer in the WC without being established.
It is laughable because players at a certain age with a certain amount of experience are expected to adapt quicker to newer environments. Henry was hardly established! If I recall correctly he wasn't even a starter in most of the games. By the time you bought Henry he had only been to one major tournament! Podolski has been in 4!

debosky: There is no rule that says a 'top' 27 year old can't be at a relegation team, especially his home town club. Let's see where things stand at the end of the season before the relevance of this point can be assessed.
I wonder if Benzema,Ronaldo,Kaka,Villa,Shevchenko,Eto'o,Elber,Del Piero,Torres,Rooney,Gomez,Rivaldo e.t.c where in relegation teams at 27
