Nowenuse:No it is not in Arabic, it is one of the Nubian dialects, which is still spoken by many people in Northern Sudan Nile valley and parts of upper Egypt from Aswan to luxor Egypt. |
TayserMahiri:Not all Sudanese are nubians, and the term Nubians were not a collective group, but it consist of many different nationalities. However there is a difference between the Nuba people from the Nuba mountains, than Nubians. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PdtA7oKmlWU This group above is depicted http://archive.is/rPypk#selection-19.0-26.0 and these are people from the Nuba mountains, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OylCfLgiZak and both groups was represented although they were separate, one group always resided south, while the other was more or less in various time in history part of Egypt. Egyptian art also depicts a regional distinction in Nubian physical types.24 During the Old and Middle Kingdoms, Egyptian rule extended to around the third cataract. Nubians are portrayed with skin of varying shades of darkness, distinctive dress and the facial features of an Egyptian. Timewilltell2:But i am smarter than you! lol You thought the girls was South American than African, now who is dumb? ![]() |
Timewilltell2:Alek Wek is South Sudanese, not Sudanese proper. Also South Sudan is a separate country for "Sudan" This is what the majority of people in Sudan looks like. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hapmIPu_Ix4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-CwUYekLRDM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=glHnwckeq8o In retrospect Alex Wek and other South Sudanese. Are not Sudanese period! |

chineloSA:https://www.beautifulworld.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/sudan-africa-map.jpg What i mean fault line, we have all the populations and faces of the entire African Continent. That is a simple geography lesson. From the north Egypt, From South (South Sudan), East(Ethiopia, Eritrean) and the West(Chad) all those groups are represented in Sudan population. Also the rest of your statement is really not relevant. I think you need to work on your home issue first before coming at us. A good example is your electricity problem. Cheers. |
chineloSA:The thing is Sudan is a very diverse country. It depends which segment of the Sudanese population you are referring to. Sudan is not the Congo Sudanese https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RpDQMqiT-F8&t=158s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-CwUYekLRDM https://jideodukoya.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/happy-faces-of-sudanese2.jpg http://jideodukoya.com/gallery-post/beautiful-faces-of-sudanese/ We are in the fault line of the Arab and African world. It is just the reality. |
KemjikaEme:These people represent 60 percent of the population today. lol https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-CwUYekLRDM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfAeYFZ1mrQ |
9jakool:In regards to language family in regards of ancient meroitic language in antiquity, it is unclassified by modern scholars. The classification of Meroitic is uncertain due to the scarcity of data and difficulty in interpreting it. Since the alphabet was deciphered in 1909, it has been proposed that Meroitic is related to the Nubian languages and similar languages of the Nilo-Saharan phylum. Claude Rilly is the most recent proponent of the Nilo-Saharan idea: he proposes that it is Eastern Sudanic, the Nilo-Saharan family that includes Nubian (Rilly 2004, 2007, 2012). Rowan (2006, 2011), on the other hand, notes that the Meroitic sound inventory and phonotactics (the only aspects of the language which are secure) are similar to those of the Afroasiatic languages, and dissimilar from Nilo-Saharan languages. For example, very rarely does one find the sequence CVC, where the consonants (C) are both labials or both velars. This is similar to consonant restrictions found throughout the Afroasiatic language family, suggesting that Meroitic might have been an Afroasiatic language like Egyptian. The issue is unresolved and most classifications list Meroitic either as questionably Nilo-Saharan or as unclassified (as Joseph Greenberg did).https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meroitic_language According to Peter Behrens (1981) and Marianne Bechaus-Gerst (2000), linguistic evidence indicates that the Kerma peoples spoke Afro-Asiatic languages of the Cushitic branch.[12][13] The Nilo-Saharan Nobiin language today contains a number of key pastoralism related loanwords that are of proto-Highland East Cushitic origin, including the terms for sheep/goatskin, hen/cock, livestock enclosure, butter and milk. This in turn suggests that the Kerma population — which, along with the C-Group Culture, inhabited the Nile Valley immediately before the arrival of the first Nubian speakers — spoke Afro-Asiatic languageLinguistically it has always been a mixture of two groups https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kerma_Culture |

TayserMahiri: Are those pyramids archaeologically studied?Yes, it was studied by George Reisner over 100 years ago, and continued to be studied by Archaeology by local and international, they have many blogs about this stuff in twitter among others. https://books.google.com/books?id=O2NFAQAAMAAJ&pg=PA67&lpg=PA67&dq=George+reisner+excavation+of+nuri&source=bl&ots=elliCXjziz&sig=YV7iBX8xSw84uSJYbT7Sgd_s65A&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi56drCzYnUAhXFy1QKHUmGAI84ChDoAQgtMAM#v=onepage&q=George%20reisner%20excavation%20of%20nuri&f=false Here is the link above. If I ask, how comes Bashir has stayed in power that long?Blind followers and ring elections and fraud, also the opposition is two weak and old, and people don't trust nor believe in the opposition. Is it via democracy or does he belong to a ruling class mafia! They say it is a democracy since we hold election, but the reality is your second comment. |
TayserMahiri:The official language in Sudan is "Arabic". Although English is also a official but it is rarely taught in the village level in local schools, but you may find some people here in there in some villages that may speak english. Most learn english in secondary school or some well off people send their kids to private or international school. They also have schools in Khartoum that teach a multitude of different languages, and since they are trying to attract people to visit things such as these https://www.designindaba.com/sites/default/files/styles/large/public/node/news/19092/gallery/sudan-08nuri0438.jpg?itok=TEqh5jyR https://hiddenincatours.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/IMG_0204-640x427.jpg https://www.coxandkings.co.uk/compass/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/Murals-in-Nuri.jpg https://c8.alamy.com/comp/D687A0/buhen-temple-in-the-the-national-museum-of-sudan-khartoum-sudan-D687A0.jpg Dinder national park https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/0c/64/b9/0c64b9a25185c500cf8be2daf2161abd.jpg Port Sudan https://teejwal.com/pics/news/2016/2/14/album/145548094358.jpg https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/c5/0d/c7/c50dc7e134b9dc6ace132377b9562bdf.jpg so this can create jobs, and needed income with more tourist which means more people that can communicate in a multitude of different languages. Due to the Sudan bad image we get far less tourist than our neighbor in both Egypt and Ethiopia, but it is starting to increase gradually, but we have to market it right. It is like we have tourist elements of both North and Sub Saharan Africa, i think the combinations make it a unique travel experience. We should make port Sudan very tourist friendly like the Egyptians did for the Sinai. |
TayserMahiri:Rugby is not popular in Sudan, but i live in NZ and Australia, so i adopted to the local sports, including netball. Why there is no Sudanese expatraite community because most areas in Sudan beside darfur and kordofan is relatively stable. Since it is a lack of jobs currently in Sudan, most Sudanese migrant to the Gulf, since there been a long established communities of Sudanese since the 1960's "The Sudanese community has been in the UAE since the late '60s and early '70s," said Salah el Din al Tayeb, the club secretary general. "The Sudanese were brought to the Trucial States by the British to manage the civil development of the different emirates. By the '70s and the formation of the UAE, the community grew and more doctors, officers and engineers were called to help build the UAE.http://www.thenational.ae/news/uae-news/sudans-expats-still-club-together The Kenyans i met in Australia were great people, and still are my friends till this day. |
9jakool: Lol I wasn't born yesterday. Those "dark" Arabs are Arabs with ancestry from Africa. There are also Arabs in Iraq, especially around Busra. Those "dark" Arabs were descendants of slaves that was taken from Africa especially Zanj.Actually, i did not have them in mind, those are "bantu" descent people. For example the King of Oman, and https://vid.alarabiya.net/images/2016/02/13/f5d42418-f433-45c6-9ef4-7a4c2620ee85/f5d42418-f433-45c6-9ef4-7a4c2620ee85_16x9_788x442.jpg and groups in places such as Yemen and you have some Saudi that look like that to https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2772/4406095876_5fe5504609_z.jpg https://i.ytimg.com/vi/PX36Qn87LJU/maxresdefault.jpg https://l7.alamy.com/zooms/b38af5d2113f4c21abdd2777487ec13e/saudi-men-listening-to-a-speech-fpcwxj.jpg If you visit any Arab country you will noticed there is a range among them, from white to carmel complexion. Again, you didn't catch were I said "....Nubians who are now reduced to a few areas." I know they exist today, my point was they held a larger territory historically than they do today. If you talking about Southern Egypt, Yes it is different, but in North Sudanese case it is relatively the same territory and people. |
TayserMahiri:I have been to Kenya once in conference, but i have a few Kenya associate while in Australia watching the "sevens" game. Since rugby is popular in Kenya. |
Nowenuse:Technically speaking i speaking arabic, but since i grew up in the west it is kind of rough, and i do not write in the language. Going back to Sudan, everything weirdly comes back in regards to language. That is the problem of many Sudanese that grow up in Western countries. |
9jakool:Actually you do have many "dark" arabs in Saudi Arabia and Oman, but that is another story for another day. No, the nubians are still there my friend, and they are not reduce to some small area. The nubians groups that are Arabize such Jal3en, and Dongola, and Halfaweyen who are the largest groups in the North, and you have groups such as the Mahas that maintain their identity. The Sudanese girl kind of explains the problems in Sudan, in a round about way. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KGUK1avLeJI |
freshest4live:Many East African are a mixture of bantu speakers and cushitic people. A good example are some Kikuyus from Kenya, they are a mixed bag. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-wn3urX5R64U/VWlQlbnfXWI/AAAAAAAAAOo/R1ofH28hsrw/w698-h552-no/Screen%2BShot%2B2015-05-30%2Bat%2B8.19.37%2BAM.png |
Nowenuse:Not everyone believe or buy it, some Kikuyus i remembered reading believe they came from the horn, and groups such as the Tutsi believe they are infact possible Oromo or even Somali in origin, and later in their migration adopted the bantu language of the hutu people. |
Nowenuse:I don't consider myself "Arab", i just consider myself Sudanese, and that is about it. However i grew up outside of Sudan. |
9jakool:Most Sudanese are "Nile Valley" people. Yes, some arabs and in some cases Turkish people mixed, but it is not the majority. Most northern Sudanese are indistinguishable from many people from the horn, and Upper Egypt. If you look at the Christian frescoes it still resemble the vast majority of the people. This is before islam became the dominant religion, you will see these Christian frescoes at the second floor of the national museum in Khartoum https://i.imgur.com/hhVoZmG.jpg https://i.imgur.com/D21MDnv.jpg https://www.thespeakersagency.com/uploadedfiles/image/Zeinab_Badawi_WS1.jpg Sudanese reporter BBC Zeineb Badawi Your last statement i never heard a South Sudanese say that, if the country in the north supposedly belong to them why did they overwhelmingly voted for separation? |
These are the Sudanese you will see in Israel mainly from Darfur or South Sudan. A picture of a South Kordofan (sudan) or South Sudanese wedding in Israel. https://l7.alamy.com/zooms/4e39c662cf8148528bf48027e28b2e75/wedding-of-refugees-who-escaped-separately-from-sudan-and-reunited-c7e0y2.jpg https://l7.alamy.com/zooms/d01de4066f99447ca7a6a6cb4ff8d66b/wedding-of-refugees-who-escaped-separately-from-sudan-and-reunited-c57yfr.jpg https://c2.staticflickr.com/4/3353/3287589407_159c33fcd2_z.jpg?zz=1 Those are the picture above that goes to Israel, which is unfortunately. These people below usually go to the arab countries https://i0.wp.com/farm9.staticflickr.com/8049/8426009482_decf374ddc_c.jpg |
9jakool:Lets see the average "Sudanese" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-CwUYekLRDM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YzH_YUpW0pM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RpDQMqiT-F8&t=186s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=duTaW4Wb2v0 These are average Sudanese. Lets get the facts clear most Sudanese do not go to Israel however the Sudanese that go to Israel is mainly from Darfur via Egypt and of course South Sudan. Most northern Sudanese usually go to places such as Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Saudi, since Northern Sudanese has a establish community there in those countries. In fact it was the Sudanese community that basically set up the infrastructure there through the British government. Here a link for the little information. "The Sudanese community has been in the UAE since the late '60s and early '70s," said Salah el Din al Tayeb, the club secretary general. "The Sudanese were brought to the Trucial States by the British to manage the civil development of the different emirates. By the '70s and the formation of the UAE, the community grew and more doctors, officers and engineers were called to help build the UAE.http://www.thenational.ae/news/uae-news/sudans-expats-still-club-together |
Nowenuse:Really, I don't think so. Average Sudanese villagers in the far North. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RpDQMqiT-F8&t=823s These poor lightskin villagers are certainly not rich or part of some elite. LOL |
OLAADEGBU:Olaadegu Arabic is the language of the land, period. It is spoken in nearly all homes, written in all billboards, and of course taught in schools. For example this television variety show in Northern Sudan https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RpDQMqiT-F8 Yes, we are a very diverse nation Do people read their Qur'an that is a personal question, so it depends on the individual some people are religious while others is not. |
OLAADEGBU:Let wikipedia and Google search be your friend. Sudan official languages Official languages Arabic, English[3] Most people speak arabic, and English as well as Chinese is secondary. |
axum:Yes, USA base for now, we plan on moving soon. |
pleep:That means you don't have respect for woman including your mother nor do you have honor or dignity. I will say this at least Axum had to the respect to eliminate the pornographic photo, but you won't because of feeling of being hurt. How typically! |
pleep:As a man i don't think you really understand this. As i said before both images you posted and Axum posted is equally wrong and degrade women, period. If your mother was younger or sister being posted in a degrading matter, that is what you both should think about. I am done. |
gallivant:Listen name calling is one thing, but showing pictures of sexual images degrading women is another thing altogether, which is wrong. As a woman i am offended by both images, Pleeps and Axum posted on this thread the pornographic ones. This is probably be the last time i may log in here after this, most websites, has protocol against pornographic images such as that, and members are normal ban. Now i am starting to question nairaland policy or lack thereof. |

. Alek wek should be pissed off lol
Especially the Bantus.
