1. Achebe is not an ethnic warlord, he was never part of or headed any group who involved in violent agitation for the self determination of his own ethnic group like Saro Wiwa did with MOSOP.

2. Some aspects of his book are disputed and different version of events given by others and that's why there is the necessity of corroboration of events by other historians. Like I said earlier, you can't dispute the asaba massacre, neither can you dispute the pogroms nor the blockade of Biafra because these have been recorded and corroborated by all major historians of the war. Saro Wiwa can't just come up with a fantastic and unbelievable tale which only him remembers. It is easier for me to believe that the events never happened than for me to believe that an event of such magnitude occurred and yet Saro wiwa was the only one that knew about it.

If such atrocities as you claimed actually did happen, one would expect widespread reporting of it by history records.
