Politics › Re: Labels Called Nigeria And Biafra. by Abba999(f): 2:32pm On Jul 18, 2015 |
[s][/s] dexy007: For quite some time I have had to gather intelligence from the several threads & comments here on nairaland and the outside world in general with reference to the aforementioned topic.
It hurts me badly when I realise the depth of hatred being built inside of us by the so called division in tribe. I begin to wonder before we all were labelled whatever tribe we were first and foremost born as man.
I am Yoruba by tribe, Nigerian by nationality, Christian by religion but most importantly I'm man by reason of specie and birth. If only we could closely see and realise all those classification are merely titles. This we forget, which is the essence of man, to make the best of what other species are ignorant of.
Same way Nigeria and Biafra would only be a geographical location of a certain group of people as well as feeding the egos of certain people which remains the bane of any meaningful development for man. We are quick to forget that there was a certain period that USA never believed that one day a Black man (Racial Labelling) would ever become the president of that nation.
When shall we all see that the day we look beyond all this man-made labels is when the world would be at peace with itself for once. The day Isreal would look at Palestine and say we were both born the same way, same for Palestine. The day the Arabian countries would see that religion is by choice and not by force. I was given birth to as man and not Arabian.
Who says those agitating for Biafra don't have ulterior motives just like the zoo they have labelled Nigeria to be? Who says every tribe in Nigeria doesn't want secession, but we all know that there can never be meaningful development in breaking away.
We all are angry that the White man gave us a name, but have we thought of the idea of coming together as one to rename our true identity, we say we angry at the White man's ideology of naming us, but that same ideology is what as shaped our governance to the present day. Can you re-write history without history? We all been able to read and write today and use modern technology is no doubt referenced to them.
In the midst of all these confusion when it was time to come together as one against the White man's ideology of same sex marriage we all forgot about tribe, religion rather stood as one thinking like the original in the beginning which is MAN. My question is where did all these labels and titles disappear into?
The answer is nowhere cause they are all non-existent only brought alive when there is a favour or reward attached for belonging to an egocentric ideology of a man like yourself seeking to take advantage of a world with scarce resources instead of seeking ways of ensuring such scarce resources are made available to all to indeed bring alive the essence of man which is Equity and Justice.
My humble submission is this, there is no such thing as a White man, Black man or any other man as such. Man is Man, dispersed all over planet earth, with different natural forces exerted upon them in their different geographical environments. No man is superior to the other, exposure and enlightenment differentiates we all of which those two factors are transferable.
Nigeria and Biafra are labels, Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, etc. are all labels, the earlier we realise this the better for us all, the 1967 civil war will be only a child's play when the current hatred and name callings finally reaches its crescendo.
I love eternally my Yoruba culture, I respect my Ibo business orientation & ingenuity, My Hausa humilty and honesty, My Urhobo sense of humor, My Ibibio dress sense, My Tiv ability to till the soil, but I can never forget who I am, a MAN. My true Muslim brothers and sisters in Nigeria, Biafra and Diaspora I love you all as well, not forgetting those with other religious beliefs.
A man is a person that gathers all information within and outside is environment, sieves the good from the bad and most importantly affects his environs by enlightening and not enforcing.
God bless the GOOD men of Nigeria that most of us are for now!!! God bless the agitation of the GOOD people of Biafra!!! Most importantly God bless Man scattered around the planet earth in general.
Trust me when I say currently no such thing exists as one Nigeria, but with a gathering of MAN and not Nigerians or Biafrans, a New Country would emerge and I know of a certainty that the name of that country wouldn't be Nigeria neither would it be Biafra. Shutting down or jamming of radio stations is not the answer. When the foundation is faulty no buiding can stand. Dialogue remains the answer. Dialogue of the the right people, with the right people and for the right purpose.
May God help and bless us all!!! Amen.

[s][/s] anumide: you claim you are ijaw, but I think DNA analysis won't be a bad idea. every sensible ijaw person will rather clamor for Niger Delta republic rather than Biafra. (that itself would still be a joke anyway, tall dream). anyways, who wants a visa into a country that is landlocked by Nigeria. enjoy your delusion, it's allowed. P.S you guys should create your ow. forum, leave Nigerian nairaland. start telling your brothers in Lagos to start moving home. recall your legislators, tell you people not to accept political appointments, reject federal allocations, start processing your secession in a universally acceptable way. then we will know that you guys are serious. stop the e-ranting already.
Oga SEUN, I am sad you allow this thing to go on for so long. lalasticlala, tell your Oga to shut down this mess. [s][/s] |

sinkhole: In the olden days when men failed, women rise up to support them e.g., Queen Amina, Moremi of Ife and even Efunsetan of Ibadan was brave in a brutal way! But nowadays, women of Africa are just money suckers, they always drive their men to greediness, all the brutalities of African men are always suppprted by African women. If a man see snake and a woman kills it, nothing spoil, the most important thing is that snake must not escape! If OP, thinks African men get no balls, then as an African woman, she should rise up and save her continent! That's what we have been trying to do. Call women in politics but the men will do everything to pull the women down. When Iweala etc was there all hell went loose. You may want to argue this based on your political interest, but I tell u African women are still less corrupt than their male counterparts. Given the opportunity we'll do even best and set us all free. |

You have given an inaccurate diagnoses of African backwardness .Although you attributed it to cowardice, i disagree for it is not a lack of courage or the will to fight that has held the black race down. Let me tell you what it is...PRIDE, GREED and SELFISHNESS- These are the three evils that plague the African continent.
First, due to pride, the African man likes to show off and flaunt his assets to oppress anybody in sight...listen to our musicians brag about shoes ,cars, houses ,sexiest girls with the biggest bum- bums etc
In addition to these, He likes to be on top, to be the biggest, finest, richest ,latest and whatever est that is available . Now Ambition is not a problem in itself, its the nature if many an African mans ambition that is unhealthy because it is inordinate. Thus he reasons that if he is to always be on top and dominate others ,he has to prevent others from getting to his level and is willing to literally sacrifice human beings to achieve his aim.thus the African will readily sabotage any other persons effort because he is seen as a threat.
His greed and penchant for filthy lucre makes him ready to steal and divert his countries resources to further his objectives and rather than let it benefit the society, selfishness will make him tell those who need his help to pay school fees or hospital bills that he does not have.-of course he is being honest because he has budgeted that money for his late father -in- laws burial party that must be the talk of the town.
Sadly he wants is legacy to continue and instills the same thought pattern in his children...as in the case of Femi Fani Kayode whose father Remi was once in government. Femi will drum it into your ears that he schooled in Cambridge, Havard and Obrigado but can not point to anything tangible he did as the Aviation minister but stands accused of siphoning aviation ministry funds meant to enhance safe skies for Nigeria.
This pattern of behavior is as a result of the feudal/hereditary monarchist system of government that preceded the modern systems of obtainable now. In ancient times leadership was restricted to some ruling families while the rest were regarded as commoners...THEY CONSIDERED THEMSELVES AS RULERS WHO LORD IT OVER THE CITIZENS AND NOT LEADERS.
Unfortunately and fortunately because the current system permits few commoner to rise to become a ruler many Africans condone bad , inept systems because he longs to oppress others to when he has finally made it and so the vicious cycle continues.
What we need are many selfless leaders in the mold of Mandela to reverse this trend....and give the citizens of Africa a paradigm shift.
We do not need to fight anybody we have fought too many wars already ...What we need is to reorganize our societies to subjugate personal interest to that interest of the society, then society will develop and then we can command the respect of the world.
I rest my case. Nice piece |
