I thought FIRSTHOLDCO released a bad result, but it’s currently going up at the market opening.

Did you fund the account using a bank account that is different from the account linked to your mutual funds?
I can’t remember exactly. I’ve been contributing for so long and I have various bank accounts, possibly I might have used a different account sometimes when topping up. But does it even matter?

If not, monitor the price mvmt first
Talking as a layman/gambler not as financial/stock adviser o. Lol

Hello House,

I stumbled on this thread two days ago and have taken my time to read through all the pages.

I have been in the financial sector for almost 10 years, with investments mainly in individual stocks domiciled with ARM Securities and a money market fund domiciled with Stanbic IBTC. I also tried the Stanbic IBTC Ethical Fund years ago, even before my exposure to stocks, but I was not happy with the consistent negative returns at the time. I eventually liquidated my position and never went back.

However, with the knowledge I have gained from reading through this thread, I am now considering liquidating my money market fund and splitting the funds between the Stanbic IBTC Nigerian Equity Fund and the Stanbic IBTC Balanced Fund.

Please, I would appreciate further guidance on this decision.

emmanuelewumi:
United Capital does.

Since ARM does not, it is better to liquidate part of your Money Market Fund.

Does not make sense to earn less than 20% on your MMF but you are paying over 25% as interest on loan
Thank you sir

I really appreciate your responses

emmanuelewumi:
Better to borrow against your shares.

Money Market Fund will pay you about 18% but the interest on the loan is about 26%.

I will advise you to liquidate your Money Market Fund instead of borrowing against it
Thank you sir.

However, if I'm to borrow against my stocks, what is the best way to approach it, since ARM doesn't offer it

Hello sir, I have a situation and I really need your guidance.
I currently have investments in a money market fund and stocks, domiciled with Stanbic MMF and ARM One respectively. At the moment, I need some cash, but I do not want to liquidate any of my investments.
I considered taking an asset-backed loan, but unfortunately ARM does not offer that option. Stanbic, however, offers a Smart Loan against the MMF at an interest rate of 2.33% per month.
I am unsure whether this is a good deal or even the right decision financially. I would appreciate your advice.
InvestmentRe: Mutual Funds by Abbasmh(m): 2:33pm On Jul 29, 2025
I tried topping up my ARM MMF account through the ARMone app, but instead, a new MMF account was created and credited with the money, I don't know where the issue is or what to do to rectify it. Can anyone here help? Thank you

When you see the big men scrambling to take control of the elephant, you know they must have seen something that we're not seeing. The simplest thing to do, if you're a risk-taker, is to align with them, sit back, relax, and just wait for the big move to start. Those 'Os' in that company are not accumulating for just fun or because they have the means to do it.
