Kukutenla: From my own insight into Nigeria's issues, we have two bring under control two big elephants in the room before we can get anything else right. 1. Local refining of petrol products 2. Electricity If we can solve those two, both the private and public sectors will get the much needed funds to drive development forward. Anything outside this two will just be papering over the cracks which will lead us back to square one We go back to the main problem here which is financial capital. Nigeria is lacking and extremely broke. What leverage do you put forth on raising the money to make those 2 major infrastructure to come to reality? First of all to serve 220-250 million people we need nothing less than 100gigawatt of electricity generation as bare minimum which will cost nothing less than 70bliion dollar at 700m dollar per gigawatt from Siemens and the likes, to build our local refinery back to life in other to sustain our economy we will need like 30 billion dollar to set up refineries that will at least generate 1.5million bpd daily to sustain and eradicate importation of crude product. My question here is; where do we get this 100billion dollar to Kickstart this massive solution oriented programme/project for the revival of our economy? ? Also remember in all this we are already servicing debts that is way larger than our total earning from crude export yearly so please don't mention the crude as a way of repaying back foreign loan. So where do you think we will get the money needed? ? |

Christistruth03: All societies need to unite and need Social Capitalism
Go and Check out the USAs Military, School System, Police System etc
Capitalism cannot do everything
Businesses have up and down Cycles
Remember that US Capitalism grew out of enslaving others
and it was the Government that dragged the US out of the 1930s Financial Crash
The Slave Emancipation was like a Govt Welfare program for Slaves
Don’t be deceived
During the 2008 Financial Crash it was the Government who saved the US Businesses with the biggest
Welfare Check in US History I am 100% fan of social capitalist economy driven society. Just given illustration and reason to Mrvitalis with different opinion on what a country economy and policy should be run on not necessarily going against the idea of social-capitalism in any form. Peace |

mrvitalis: I have always said Yorubas are social capitalist while Igbos believe in American styled capitalism ...reason we have never agree politically LOL, definitely we yorubas are not and will never be make money by all means possible type. Yoruba culture and way of life is purely design to emulate and propagate social-capitalism. Yoruba don't believe in the concept of survivalism of individual based on their competency only, lifting others up through grouping and other form is the basis requirement why Yoruba has strong culture that has passes through the test of time. I was able to deduce where Ojukwu and Awolowo would have had disagreement mostly back then base on this issue we are discussing on right now. Its fundamental to what Nigeria want and how Nigeria future will be define, instead the two smart tribe got into supremacy battle which led them relinquishing their dominance to the one tribe that tried to keep their flaw hidden and intact by using a particular connotation of "we North" I don't see any possible solution to the point I just raise up in my last paragraph without things getting dirty and taking us back to square one.... |

mrvitalis: Not really Bros sorry let me join
What awolowo failed to understand and what his idiology followed fail to understand is
1) half education is worse then no education at all ...it's better to have 5 graduate fully trained than have 500 graduate poorly trained
2) government have no business in direct running of business ,
3) infrastructure doesn't kick start economic growth I think this is a broad issue of socialism vs capitalism, with my insight in future innovation and intelligence gathering base on Nigeria history and psychological setup of we Nigerians I think the best solution available is to apply social-capitalism policy like General Mao of China(best way to resolve large population problem starting from basic like ours). We should create a topic on the identity we want our future economy and policy to follow in order to know where we should channel our reasoning faculty when it comes to proffering solution to our present and our immediate future policy if we as a citizen actually want to meet up with world standard in everything that makes a country successful. |

Kukutenla: Nope Not at all. Awolowo's policies were successful by any standard. Like i told the other guy, what Awolowo did is an exact replica of what FDR did to revive the US . The fault lies with successive administrations who failed to build on his successes. If China and US did not have a good string of strong and visionary leaders spanning fifty years, they couldn't have made the strides they made up till today. My point is if we adopt the Awolowo policies now, we will be better off in five to ten years than we are now exactly what I said in the first paragraph, if you read it again carefully, the solution you also provided is the same solution I provided and I also gave reason while it will be more easier to run it now due to more information and data backup available... where do you have disagreement with my argument precisely? Like we are still going to use the Awolowo policies, just that the implementation and oversight of the policies will be easily carried out in this present timeline due to ready made information available on pros and cons of HDI. |

Kukutenla: What do you mean by Awolowo's problem? The SW was the most economically productive region under him and had the highest HDI due to his free education policy. So what exactly do you mean? Awolowo as a person didn't fail, but the policy and system of running society he created were fully demoralized due to lack of consistency in our previous administration rule with heavy lack of insight into what the future hold for us back then and different form of government which doesn't have the same agenda and motive for the people. Now we have the chance to look into the past with the data available which help to modify our future into a beffiting world standard in all our new HDI program we are envisaging to come to reality in this coming administration, meanwhile during Awolowo's time, there were none readily available social engineering and economical data needed to quantify the past, present and future back then which are readily available due to presence of technology and information science today. We are able to know where we are now cause we have enough data to compare our failings in regards to other develop nation we are competing with. I hope you grab the concept of what I am trying to explain here. |

mrvitalis: I don't believe in HDI ...I believe in supporting native industries to grow to world class ... we grow by having thousands of dangote who would be so big they invest around the world n bring the profit back home
No developed nation today got there by HDI ...you grow by supporting local businesses with prospects ...imagine giving innosson access to 2 billion dollars at 5% interest ? Tell me he won't dominate Africa?
Won't airpeace best Ethiopian air if he has access to capital ?
Chicken republic has the potential to revolutionise Nigeria agro industries
This is how you grow FDI would always strangulate an economy Lol, your illustration is exactly HDI. You thought i was referring to FDI.... they are not the same. mrvitalis: Akwa ibom.is well positioned to do this ..rivers and bayelsa too Oh Mrvitalis, despite our political differences on who should drive this country forward, I am still glad you're adept to the possible nearest solution manual to Nigeria economic woes. HDI first and foremost is what Nigeria need to work on such as, modern-day technical and vocational institute like 2000 branch all over Nigeria for a start, then the graduate of this institute will be provided immediately with credit facility to start an SME through meticulous application of the skill gained in respite to mordern technology and information world we are in. I will implore you to create more thread on the HDI for more dialogue in other to create awareness to people on how important HDI is before GDP of a country, HDI save WEST and China first before GDP. Emphasis should be put more on the HDI of developing economy in other to maximize their potential over a given period of time. Awolowo's problem back then can be corrected today with the help of information technology insight on future projection and possible outcome of different variable, also the world wasn't fast paced then during the first and second republic. If we don't solve this problem now in the next 500 year Nigeria will still be a mess. I believe the credit facility should be given through a methodical approach and please forget about graduate, graduate don't believe in SME anywhere in the world, they want to be seeing in large office buildings putting on suit and ties, the credit facility should be given to those who are ready to hustle with there little vocational and technical knowledge they will gain within the span of two years and applied with it directly without shame or ego that limit most graduates. casualobserver: There was some research done in the 70s that suggested that we would be better off as a nation if we are educated in our primary native languages like the Chinese but I think the numerous languages in Nigeria put paid to that idea.
I will look for the video. It suggested that rural Nigerian children show intelligence when conversing in their native languages before they start schooling but start to lose that intelligence when that start to learn in English. Thousands of years language registration into the human DNA is very hard to deprogramme, thats why all the current highly develop country all use their native language to write their science and technology, which give rooms to easier understanding of those knowledge and pursuant of actual useful first hand Intelligence to resolve their various problem in relation to their environment and culture. casualobserver: I couldn’t agree more. Observers have been saying this for years now that the so called educated Nigerian behave like uneducated people. It as if our education has not equipped us to think. It would appear that in reality, the smartest people in Africa (certainly Nigeria) are not the so called educated ones but the political class and the masses. They are the only ones the country works (or attempts to) work for. The rest of us noise makers are our own govt.
The way we behave actually makes a mockery of education….the political class recognize this. Political class and masses with less education operate mostly with the part of the brain refer to as hindbrain which are very effective in navigating problem promptly though a bit cynical in process for carrying the said action out, while the more educated use more of neocortex part of their brain which cause a lot of procrastination and imagination which if not properly taken care of and analyze, it will lead to lack of social awareness and more of delusion on how exactly the world he/she is as an observer. I am of the opinion that some new curriculum should be drawn out for this new generation of 5-18yrs old student to help improve their spatial and cognitive awareness in other to adapt to the current state of their environment in relation to where exactly the world reach and possibly the next direction the world is going to be able to fit in possible 100 years to come. This is exactly what General Mao Zedong of China did in the 50s for Chinese population to help them escape their extreme terrible fate. I personally did not see a bright future with our race unless we delve deep into the root cause of the reason why we are who we are which I am of the opinion that the conversation is beyond this forum comment section. |

casualobserver: The biggest problem with educated Nigerians particularly those educated to tertiary level is that he fails to understand he is a minority in Nigeria. People please real again and digest what you just read….we are a minority!!!!!
The second problem as a result of the 1st is that he assumes the majority of Nigerians think like him or that he speaks for all Nigerians. The needs of a farmer or villager are very different from the needs and ambitions of a University graduate. The villager wants borehole. You want internet, streetlights and cheap forex so you can buy things on Amazon and pay for Netflix. Politicians understand this, educated Nigerians don’t!
The third problem is that he fails to realize that this democracy which the west has sold to him and he has bought hook line and sinker works for the majority. But since he is a minority, his needs will always be secondary.
The 4th mistake the educated Nigerian makes is that he is not part of any pressure group, political party and unlike our parents he is not in the civil service to have influence on the direction of the country. The 80% are the ones who have farmers associations, road transport unions, market women associations, they are the ones who control grassroots politics, who vote at primaries. They are the ones who determine not only who we vote for but who becomes president governor etc. They are the ones politicians don’t mess with because they are the ones that put them in office and also the ones who can remove them (e.g Ambode and waste collection workers). It is also the reason why it is difficult to tame the menace of NURTW and commercial drivers. The 20% come every 4 years making the loudest noise on social media thinking anybody cares about their opinions or that they have any power to determine the outcome of elections!! you can go through the thread I screenshot from to read actual enlightened analysis from Nigerians on the thread. Learned people are the minority in Africa and thats exactly what made us a third world in the face of the west. This is a large data and information to process for an average Nigerians and thats possibly the reason why its very difficult for the current educated class to grab all this necessary information to navigate the country to a greater height. |

Social media noise only translates to just 15% of reliability here in Nigeria TBH, I am not sure 15% is the actual value of social media influence on political election in Nigeria, more like 6.25%. 80% of youth between the age of 18-30 in southern Nigeria and most of North Central(most active social media user) in Nigeria don't have PVC, the one that have PVC among them don't go out to vote. This are factual information back up by data few of us here have access to from the government. Anything noise on social media from Obidient can be classify as a pure echo chamber and its so repetitive that after a period of time a normal human being get bored of those rhetoric and the online campaign suddenly lose steam, gbam and that will be the end of PO presidential ambition. |

VERDA: I get your point totally and understand what you mean, but one thing I will say also is, don't be so caught up with the whole, elections are not won on social media the PDP and APC push.
People feel those pushing things on social media will not come out to vote, they will shock a lot of people, like I stated earlier, the dynamics have changed.
As for some of the Rural people, trust me most of them are aware of what is happening and candidates being pushed, especially in places like the middle belt who have suffered severely from bandits. APC is out of it for them, I am not saying Peter Obi will win. I am saying given the right campaign strategy he will give Atiku a good fight and might, just might surprise people.
Religion sadly is pushing the narrative in the middle belt, most of those rural dwellers you talk of attend mosques and churches, and for the first time in the history of the country major denominations are actually coming out to push a particular candidate and this is largely cos of Tinubu, his decision sent shivers to a lot of middle belters and core north Christians, those living in the south may not understand this. There is a morbid fear of Islamisation christians in the middle belt and core north have, justified or not, it is just there. Again this is not me saying Obi will win, let's just watch and see. You made a valid point on Tinubu and APC M/M ticket which I agree will tilt the electioneering outcome to a certain degree. It is just how Obi fit in as a new party to contest against the two already solid party that I won't agree with easily without observing and analyzing the effort the LP is willing to put in when it matter most before the election day. Before PDP lost presidential election in 2015, my man 4 strong political party merged together to form APC with core PDP member working as anti party agent in 2015 election. My man I am yet to see anything like that happening yet to LP to give that hope of 2015 again. This is realism my man. Politicians hold everything that has to do with election in a country not the youth. So forget about Tinubu relate with me on the group of politicians and political parties willing to stake their neck for LP in 2023, NOT OBI BUT LP, TO POLITICIANS ONLY PARTY MATTERS NOT THE THE FLAGBEARER OF THE OVAL OFFICE. |

Penguin2: Lol!
See how you chose Orji Uzor Kalu for your comparison forgetting his case is just one in a million.
What has been helping OUK is the fact that he is popular amongst his people because of how gives them money and is able to buy the people to his side.
It is the kind of popularity that Ibori has in Delta. Even though Ibori is criminal and Nigerians would not wanna see him win any election, if he comes out for senatorial election, he will win. That’s same thing with OUK.
But aside OUK, how many other APC senators do you have from the entire Southeast?
What I’m trying to tell you is that what delivered OUK in Abia is not structure but because his people genuinely preferred him to his opponent.
About the generality of Igbos that have consistently voted PDP since 1999, it was simply because Igbos never had any alternative political platform that they accepted.
Before APC, the only opposition candidate in the presidency has always been Buhari who the Igbos abhor.
Then eventually APC was formed and Igbos, seeing the circumstances that led to its formation and the party also choosing Buhari as candidate, they canceled APC and vowed never to have anything to do with it. And they have been vindicated. Haven’t they?
But that’s not the case in 2023, the Igbos have finally seen an alternative platform they accept; and with PDP refusing to zone the Presidency to the southeast despite our faithfulness over the years, the voting pattern will not be anything like what you are used to seeing before.
Peter Obi will get 90% of Southeast votes. Take it on authority from me. I want to learn the insider knowledge you use to arrive at the point of Obi getting 90% in the SE. I want to learn more from your perspective about the SE giving 90% easily out of nowhere to LP party, LP |

Abdu81: Are you saying that 2023 will be the same with other elections?
I doubt. Seriously, as an analyst what are you projecting to change in the Nigeria political system by 2023? On what ground are you redering your opinion that people that vote for either APC or PDP in the last two presidential election will suddenly vote for a new party? Do you even know the people that vote on election day? Have you contested for any political position before? Did you presume that the people that have enough money to buy 50gb worth of data monthly, use AC, own cars and various modern electronics are the ones that flock out on election day? Please this are genuine question which I want to hear your opinion about. People don't change easily, if Obi can't win over the people in the deep rural area with mostly low cost of living and little to no modern social life, then we should forget wasting effort on projecting him or else our opinion here will just sound like echo chambers. The recent election in Ekiti and Osun state adhere to the fact that people will always align to their old master, you can call it Stockholm syndrome but it is what it is. Change is hard when 2 option is already on ground. This is not Obi vs PDP, but Obi versus set orders APC et PDP, thats why I doubt him winning the SE in the first place. Presidential election voters are 50% party members and they go to meeting and do everything intermittently. You may not know about this if you haven't had the chance to man an election yourself whether winning or losing you will gain a lot of insider information on how election work in Nigeria. There's a major reason why in the USA the chief democratic country presidential election mostly have 2 outcome party 95% of the time. You can give a stronger argument to negate my point I will surely entertain and learn from it too. |
