I hate quitting. I take too long to quit jobs when the environment is toxic; I take too long to quit relationships in which I’m being mistreated. I fear regret, being judged and hurting other people.

I’ve been “breadcrumbed” and “paperclipped” in which boys used and disrespected my kindness and womanhood. I’ve believed I’m not good enough and I’ve felt hopeless.

However, over time, I’ve learned the importance of respecting myself and my happiness. As the saying goes,

“You can’t pour from an empty cup. Take care of yourself first.”
We have to learn that good things are coming and we are inherently enough, always. Not every relationship is meant to be, and that’s okay. What’s more important is that we love and respect ourselves and know we deserve happiness and positive relationships.

If you’re wondering if you may need to let your current relationship go in order for you to achieve those feelings, check out the following six signs and takeaways.

1. You’re unhappy more often than you’re happy
.

If you feel anxious, sad or angry more often than you feel happy and positive, it may be time to let your relationship go. You deserve (and likely will) find a relationship you’re happy in, so don’t waste your time and well-being in relationships that often make you feel bad.

Signs This Is True in Your Relationship
You have an overwhelming, overall gut feeling that this relationship isn’t working; you feel negatively often.
You cry, complain or feel anxious about some aspect of the relationship or your partner multiple times a week.
You don’t enjoy spending time with your partner or need alone time more than usual.

2. Your needs aren’t being met.

Having a list of what you need in a partner and checking in on that list can be helpful. Do you need someone who is empathetic and patient? Do you need someone who is willing to understand how trauma triggers work? Do you need someone who is also in the LGBTQIA+ community or comfortable with you being a part of it? We all have needs, and that’s totally okay.

Signs This Is True in Your Relationship
You feel unfulfilled or misunderstood by your partner, or as though they don’t care for you as they should.
You long for someone else to date.
You feel the need to change who your partner is, or you communicate your needs and nothing is changing.

3. You’re giving more than you’re receiving
.

In many of my past relationships, I felt like I gave more and loved more than my partner did. For example, I believed I gave more attention and care than they gave me. As a result, I felt unimportant and needy when that was far from true. In relationships, partners should be equals and feel fulfilled.

Signs This Is True in Your Relationship
You question your partner’s love and care for you.
You feel empty and emotionally exhausted.
You resent your partner for not giving you what you’re giving them.

4. You don’t feel comfortable being yourself
.

Feeling comfortable in a relationship is so important. I want you to feel comfortable being who you are and being human. I want you to feel safe, loved and not judged. I believe relationships should feel like home and partners should be best friends.

Signs This Is True in Your Relationship
You feel you’re walking on eggshells or fear judgment.
Your partner makes you feel bad about yourself.
You try to be someone you’re not or don’t feel like yourself.

5. You’re tempted to cheat.

In my opinion, there’s a difference between finding someone else attractive and actively wanting or moving toward cheating on your partner. Wanting to cheat is an unmistakable sign you’re unhappy in your relationship and may want to consider ending things. Cheating can be more than physical, too — it can also be emotional. Check in with yourself and your feelings, and remember that breaking up instead of cheating can be a sign of respect for both yourself and your partner.

Signs This Is True in Your Relationship
You feel unfulfilled in your relationship; you need more and you’re not getting it.
You move toward cheating, having more than an innocent crush.
You think about hooking up with someone else more than you think about your partner.

6. You don’t feel respected
.

Respect is one of the most important parts of any relationship. You deserve to feel respected in every way, including who you are and what you like. Without respect, a lot can go wrong; if people don’t respect you, they may be more likely to mistreat you, and you don’t deserve that.

Signs This Is True in Your Relationship
You don’t feel comfortable being who you are; you feel like your partner is judging you.
Your partner mistreats you in some way.
You feel bad about yourself and your interests, and you may even try to change who you are and what you like.
***

Takeaways
You deserve to feel loved, happy and respected in all of your relationships. You deserve to feel comfortable, safe and not judged. If you’re not feeling these ways, it’s okay to let a relationship go, and your partner should respect that. It may help to communicate how you feel first, using “I statements,” but also respect and love yourself well throughout your experience. You can live a happier life, and letting go of toxic people and relationships is a great first step. I know it’s hard, but I can tell you firsthand that it’s worth it.

Foreign AffairsDHS Boss Chad Wolf Defies Trump Order To Fire Cyber Chief Chris Krebs by abc115(op):
Department of Homeland Security acting Secretary Chad Wolf is defying President Trump’s order to terminate election cybersecurity official Christopher Krebs, multiple sources tell The Post.

The White House on Wednesday evening instructed Wolf to fire Krebs after Krebs openly dismissed claims of voter fraud in the Nov. 3 election.

“He gave us a bunch of reasons why he didn’t want to do it and he said no,” a senior White House official told The Post about Wolf’s refusal.

“If anything, Chad is carrying Krebs’ water,” the source added.

Krebs, a former Microsoft executive, has since 2017 led DHS’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and recently launched a “Rumor Control” website to debunk claims of voter fraud. A CISA panel declared Thursday that the “November 3rd election was the most secure in American history,” rejecting Trump’s claims of widespread fraud.

Both officials told The Post that there was no ambiguity about whether the termination order came from the president, who says fraud resulted in narrow unofficial losses to President-elect Joe Biden in crucial swing states.

“Honestly, it was the president saying, ‘What the heck is this guy doing? He’s giving me grief before the election and now he’s saying there’s nothing wrong in the world?'” the White House official said

Krebs irked Trump allies even before he refuted claims that election fraud tilted results toward Biden. Foes claim he’s close to former DHS chief of staff Miles Taylor, who recently outed himself as “Anonymous.”

A third person familiar with the matter noted concern that Krebs employs an appointee of President Barack Obama, Matt Masterson, as his senior adviser for election security.

“Chad was asked by the president to fire Anonymous’ best friend and he’s refusing,” the administration official said. “He is not managing his agency, but that should not surprise anyone because he is a [former DHS Secretary Kirstjen] Nielsen lackey.”

Taylor did not respond to a request for comment from The Post about whether Krebs is indeed a friend.

It’s unclear if Trump will use his unilateral right to dismiss Krebs from his post without Wolf’s assistance, officials said.

Foreign AffairsBush Congratulates Biden by abc115(op): 8:52pm On Nov 08, 2020
I just talked to the President-elect of the United States, Joe Biden. I extended my warm congratulations and thanked him for the patriotic message he delivered last night. I also called Kamala Harris to congratulate her on her historic election to the vice presidency. Though we have political differences, I know Joe Biden to be a good man, who has won his opportunity to lead and unify our country. The President-elect reiterated that while he ran as a Democrat, he will govern for all Americans. I offered him the same thing I offered Presidents Trump and Obama: my prayers for his success, and my pledge to help in any way I can.

I want to congratulate President Trump and his supporters on a hard-fought campaign. He earned the votes of more than 70 million Americans – an extraordinary political achievement. They have spoken, and their voices will continue to be heard through elected Republicans at every level of government.

The fact that so many of our fellow citizens participated in this election is a positive sign of the health of our democracy and a reminder to the world of its strength. No matter how you voted, your vote counted. President Trump has the right to request recounts and pursue legal challenges, and any unresolved issues will be properly adjudicated. The American people can have confidence that this election was fundamentally fair, its integrity will be upheld, and its outcome is clear.

The challenges that face our country will demand the best of President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Harris – and the best of us all. We must come together for the sake of our families and neighbors, and for our nation and its future. There is no problem that will not yield to the gathered will of a free people. Laura and I pray for our leaders and their families. We ask for God's continued blessings on our country. And we urge all Americans to join us in wishing our next President and Vice President well as they prepare to take up their important duties.

“President Trump’s bellicose pledge to fight the outcome of the election in the courts crashed on Friday into skeptical judges, daunting Electoral College math and a lack of evidence for his claims of fraud,” the New York Times reports.

“None of the dozen or so lawsuits they had brought in battleground states appeared to be gaining any traction in the courts. And in any case, none seemed likely to give Mr. Trump the edge he would need in vote counts in the states that will determine the outcome.”

PoliticsTrump To Challenge Election Results At Supreme Court by abc115(op): 10:43am On Nov 04, 2020
President Donald Trump on Wednesday claimed he had won the US election, despite the final results not yet being given, and said he would go the Supreme Court to dispute the counting of votes.

“We did win this election,” Trump said in a speech from the ceremonial East Room of the White House.

“For the good of this nation, this is a very big moment. This is a major fraud on our nation. We want the law to be used in a proper manner. So, we will be going to the US Supreme Court,” Trump stated.

The Republican, who according to initial results is in a neck-and-neck race with Democrat Joe Biden, said he would go to court and “we want all voting to stop.”

He appeared to mean stopping the counting of mail-in ballots which can be legally accepted by state election boards after Tuesday’s election, provided they were sent in time.

However, Biden said it is not his place or Trump’s place to declare the winner of Tuesday election.

“It’s not my place or Donald Trump’s place to declare the winner of this election. That’s the decision of the American people. But I am optimistic about this outcome,” Biden spoke live from Wilmington, Delaware.

Already, polls have closed across the United States and a long waiting for results lies ahead.

As of the time of filing this report, US media claimed Trump won 23 states with 213 electoral votes while Biden won 20 states with 238 electoral votes.

The magic number of electoral votes is 270 and no winner has emerged so far as there are seven states yet to be called.

A record number of ballots were cast before Election Day, totalling more than 100 million, due to fears of congregating in polling stations in person during the coronavirus pandemic.

PoliticsEarly Vote Tops 100 Million, Doubles Total From 2016 by abc115(op): 10:13pm On Nov 03, 2020
More than 100 million Americans cast early ballots this election cycle, doubling the total who did so in 2016.

As the U.S. nears the conclusion of Election Day, upwards of 100.7 million voters have cast early or absentee ballots this cycle, according to data from the NBC News Decision Desk/TargetSmart, a Democratic political data firm.

That means that in just early voting, turnout has reached nearly 75 percent of what it was in all of 2016, when about 136.5 million ballots were cast.

All age demographics are seeing a marked increase in early voting in 2020 as compared to 2016, with states expanding early and absentee voting in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic. Those who did not or could not vote in 2016 are skewing Democratic so far, both nationally and in a majority of the key swing states.

Polling shows 2020 Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden with a large lead among early voters in key states and President Donald Trump holding an edge with those who have yet to vote.

Registered Democrats are leading registered Republicans in the early vote in critical states like Arizona, Florida, Iowa, Minnesota, Nevada, North Carolina and Pennsylvania while Republicans are up in Georgia, Michigan, Ohio, Texas and Wisconsin. Much of the swing state-level polling shows independents breaking toward Biden.
