However, Alpha Beta Tax consultancy firm, Alpha Beta LLP, denied allegations levelled against it by Apara, adding that he had diverted about $5m during his time as managing director by inflating a contract which was worth about $300,000 and then diverted a separate N6bn to personal use.

The firm said it had reported Apara’s alleged fraud to the appropriate authorities but he had refused to show up and rather remained in Dubai.

The firm said Apara’s allegations levelled against Tinubu were specious and diversionary.

PoliticsThank You For Bringing Your Deputy To See Me After Beating My Party, Buhari Tell by abeyaktech(op): 3:39pm On Sep 25, 2020
President Muhammadu Buhari has commended Governor Godwin Obaseki and his Deputy Philip Shaibu for paying him a courtesy visit at the Presidential Villa after beating the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the just-concluded Edo Election.

Mr. Godwin Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) defeated Mr. Osagie Ize-Iyamu, of the APC to win a second term as governor of Edo State.

The President, while speaking to the governor and his delegation on Friday, said, “I thank you for bringing your deputy and supporters to come and see me after beating my party. I am supposed to preside over all Nigerian interests whether I like it or not, but my single desire is to make sure that innocent people don’t suffer. That message I got across to the Inspector General of Police, that elections must be free and fair.

“If contestants have too much money and they decide to spray, so be it. But what I insist is, nobody should go and raise a counterforce to the government, arm heavily-drugged thugs to go and humiliate people.

“I want Nigerians to appreciate that I respect them as Nigerians and that I am bound by the oath I have taken, that their security is in the hands of God and in the hands of the government, which I am leading.”

President Buhari noted that as the leader of the governing party, and despite the fact that the party has lost some states in the elections, he wishes to leave behind a political culture based on integrity.

“We have lost states across the country. Now I do not like to escape the responsibility, seeing as the leader of the country, I am also the leader of my party, that I am not leading the party very well.

“I am trying to make sure that the party is built on a civilised basis, rule of law and respect for human rights and human beings, right from polling units to local governments, to states up to Abuja and that’s what I have been insisting as my contribution to the National Working Committee and executive of the party. I know we are a developing country, a developing economy, and trying to develop our political culture. I want the development of political culture to be based on integrity and accountability. Let people work very hard and earn what they are looking for through their hard work and through fair competition,” the President said.

He added jocularly that he was congratulating the Edo governor “reluctantly” because he defeated the candidate of his party, the APC.

In his remarks, Governor Obaseki thanked the President for ensuring that fair play reigned during the election which saw him victorious.

“You would recall a couple of weeks before the election, I came to see you and you assured me that we were going to have a free, peaceful, and credible election. That is what we had during the election of 19th September and the whole world has acclaimed that the Edo election was perhaps one of the best conducted in recent times in Nigeria. This could not have been possible without your insistence that the right things be done, and for that, we want to say thank you very much.”

He also thanked the President for his congratulatory message, assuring him that the message “has been internalised, that it is God that made this election possible, therefore I should be humble about the election and also magnanimous in victory.”

He pledged his unalloyed loyalty and support and that of the people of Edo State to the President and the federal government.

PoliticsTinubu: The Blood That Runs In My Veins Is Same That Runs In Every Nigerian by abeyaktech(op): 8:00pm On Sep 12, 2020
The All Progressives Congress, APC, National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Saturday, said that the blood that runs through his veins is the same blood that runs in every Nigerian veins.

Tinubu who paid a condolence visit to Senator Aliyu Wamakko (APC- Sokoto) on the demise of his daughter, Sadiya Aliyu, called for unity, noting that the country could achieve nothing without unity.

Recall that former President Olusegun Obasanjo had said that Nigeria is fast drifting to a failed and divided country, noting that mismanagement of diversity and socio-economic development is one of the major reasons behind the country’s ordeal.

His words: “Today, Nigeria is fast drifting to a failed and badly divided state, economically our country is becoming a basket case and poverty capital of the world, and socially, we are firming up as an unwholesome and insecure country.

“And these manifestations are the products of recent mismanagement of diversity and socio-economic development of our country.

“Old fault lines that were disappearing have opened up in greater fissures and with drums of hatred, disintegration and separation and accompanying choruses being heard loud and clear almost everywhere.

“It would appear that anybody not dancing to the drum beat nor joining in chorus singing would be earmarked as ethnically unpatriotic or enemy of its tribe or geographical area. In short, the country is fast moving to the precipice.
But happily, I observed that the five socio-cultural political groups gathered here have been getting together to find common ground, areas of agreement or accord for moving Nigeria away from tipping over.

“Before continuing, let me say that we must remind those who are beating the drums of disintegration and singing choruses of bitterness, anger and separation that if even Nigeria is broken up, the separated parts will still be neighbours. And they will have to find accommodation as neighbours or they will be ever at war. And those who prevent justice to be done invite violence to reign.”

Harping on unity, former Lagos state governor opined: “We have to unite to develop our country. The blood that runs in my veins is the same blood that runs in every Nigerian veins.

“Whether I am Yoruba and you are Fulani, Hausa or Igbo, the essence of our life is that we are Nigerians.

“Therefore, we should always dwell and take Nigeria first in everything we do for the good of our country,” he said.

PoliticsMan Attempts Suicide Over ‘inability’ To Marry Buhari’s Daughter In Kano by abeyaktech(op): 7:47pm On Sep 04, 2020
Kano State Police Command on Friday, averted a purported plan by one Abba Ahmed, from committing suicide over his Social Media “love” for Hanan Buhari, daughter of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Abba Ahmed (22), a final-year student of Accounting at Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano says his message has gone viral on his Facebook and Instagram handles, where he vowed to commit suicide if he failed to marry Hanan.
A reliable source who preferred anonymity disclosed that On getting wind of Abba’s post, the Force Public Relations Officer, Mr Frank Mba, signalled Kano State Commissioner of Police, Mr Habu Sani, for the immediate invitation of Abba who resides in Kano.
It was also added that Frank Mba spoke with Abba on phone for about seven minutes, advising him on the need to face better goals in future, than to commit suicide over a phantom marriage, borne out of infatuation, triggered by Social Media blues.
After been counselled by Commissioner of Police, Habu Sani, Abba then regretted his actions, and also expressed his intention to join the police and serve his country, patriotically.

Speaking to our correspondent after denouncing his actions, Comrade Abba said he was moved to join the Nigeria Police Force, following the way he was counselled by Mr Frank Mba and Kano State Commissioner of Police, Mr Habu Sani.
According to him, “I am impressed with the way Mr Frank Mba spoke to me. I also became very sober when the Commissioner of Police, Mr Habu Sani counselled me and urged me to desist from such thinking. The Chief Imam of the Police Command also admonished me.

“I have denounced my earlier intention. I will no longer commit suicide. I will respect myself and wait for a woman I can call my own wife. I love my life now, and I want to live and fulfil my life ambition.”
When asked what attracted him to Hanan Buhari, Abba said, “I loved Hanan because of her beautiful face. I admired her because of the integrity of her father (President Buhari). I also loved her because of the level of her education.”

Abba said he actually made efforts to contact Hanan and her parents through Social Media, where he severally expressed his intention towards Hanan, “but I don’t think she knew I loved her. I tried to inform her, I do not think the message reached her. I also tried sending messages to President Buhari through the Social Media, I do not think he actually got the message.”

Abba who also deals on fabrics and textile materials at the popular Kantin Kwari Textile Market said he is now ready to begin a new life with a woman she can call his own.

He wished Hanan Buhari and her newly wedded husband a happy married life while urging Nigerian youths to invest their time on better things, rather than surfing the Social Media for reasons that are irresponsible.

EXCLUSIVE: President Buhari’s Powerful Nephew Mamman Daura Flown To UK For Urgent Medical Treatment

Mamman Daura, a nephew and close confidant of President Muhammadu Buhari, has been flown to the United Kingdom for urgent medical treatment over an undisclosed ailment, SaharaReporters has reliably gathered.

Daura, 79, was said to have been flown in a private jet to the UK on Wednesday (today) after exhibiting respiratory difficulties with symptoms similar to Coronavirus since last Friday.

The former journalist, who is an integral member of the 'Cabal', a group of influential individuals around President Buhari, who help him make key decisions, is said to have had a history of renal crisis and had regularly visited the West for medical attention.

Recall that earlier this month, Daura came under widespread criticisms after he said that zoning of the Presidency in Nigeria should be jettisoned for competence.

Speaking with the BBC Hausa, he said the zoning formula had failed Nigeria and should be abandoned.

In April, another 'Cabal' member and late Chief of Staff to President Buhari, Abba Kyari, died from Coronavirus complications.

A key member of the Buhari's administration, his demise sent panic across Nigeria's seat of power, forcing drastic safety measures to be adopted to protect the President, who has himself battled an undisclosed ailment and had visited UK several times in recent years for medical attention.

PoliticsCOVID-19: Lai Mohammed Orders NBC To Stop Bbnaija – Report by abeyaktech(op): 8:56am On Jul 25, 2020
The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has asked the National Broadcasting Commission to halt the transmission of TV reality show, Big Brother Naija.

The minister said the need to stop the reality show, which entered its fifth season on July 20, became imperative due to the coronavirus pandemic.

On Wednesday, Acting Director-General of the NBC, Armstrong Idachaba, told senior management members of the commission at a meeting that he had been directed by the minister to shut down the show, according to TheCable.

Mohammed reportedly wanted the letter shutting down the show to come from the NBC because of the general opinion that he is bent on sending MultiChoice Ltd, producers of the show, out of Nigeria.

A director had told the meeting that the NBC had on July 1 sought an explanation from Multichoice Ltd on a possible violation of COVID-19 protocol with the airing of the show.

MultiChoice Ltd had subsequently replied the NBC stating the measures taken to forestall any violation of the Covid-19 protocol advised by the Presidential Task Force on Covid-19, adding that the Lagos State Safety Commission gave approval for the show.

The organisers also said housemates went through mandatory two-week isolation before the commencement of the show and that the BBN House had been disinfected and rearranged to ensure physical distancing, in addition to the elimination of live audience.
Idachaba, was, however, yet to convey the minister’s directive to the organisers of the show.

Efforts by The PUNCH to reach Idachaba proved abortive and a director in the Public Affairs Department of NBC when contacted by our correspondent said he was not permitted to speak on the matter.

PoliticsNEWSCOVID-19: Lagos Govt Spends Up To N1m Daily Per Patient – Health Commissione by abeyaktech(op): 8:16pm On Jul 23, 2020
Lagos State Government has said it spends between N100,000 and N1m daily on each of the COVID-19 patients in the state.

The Commissioner for Health, Professor Akin Abayomi, disclosed this at a media briefing on Thursday.

Abayomi explained that for mild and moderate cases, the state government spends averagely about N100,000 daily.

According to him, it costs the state government about N500,000 and N1m, to treat a patient with a serious case.

Abayomi, however, said it would be very difficult to calculate what it costs the state government to treat a COVID-19 patient, but what he provided was a rough estimate.

The cost he arrived at, factored in treatment, cost of feeding, accommodation and the services provided by the healthcare givers, etc.

Abayomi also revealed that about 2,036 COVID-19 patients have not been picked from the community in the last two weeks, due to preference for home treatment, logistic issues, wrong information provided in their forms and inability to reach such patients because their phones were switched off.

HealthCOVID-19: Lagos Spends Between N100,000 & N1M Daily On A Patient – Akin Abayomi by abeyaktech(op): 8:05pm On Jul 23, 2020
Lagos State Government Thursday said it spends between N100,000 and N1m daily on each of the coronavirus patients in the state.

The Commissioner for Health, Professor Akin Abayomi, stated this at a briefing to provide an update on efforts being taking by the state in managing COVID-19.

Abayomi said for mild and moderate cases, the state government spends averagely about N100,00 daily, while it costs the state government about N500,000 and N1m to treat a patient with a serious or intensive COVID-19 case.

He, however, said it is very difficult to calculate what is cost the state government to treat a COVID-19 but what he provided was a rough estimate. According to him, in arriving at the cost he provided, he factored in the treatment, cost of feeding, accommodation, the services provided by the healthcare givers among others.

The commissioner said the state government discontinued the idea of using Rapid Diagnostic Test kits to test patients because research sponsored by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu failed validation, as it provided inaccurate results.

Abayomi also disclosed that 2036 COVID-19 patients have not been picked from the community in the last two weeks due to preferring home treatment, logistic issues, wrong information provided in their forms and inability to reach such patients because their phones were switched off.

On the advisory by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 that some local governments in Lagos be lockdown due to the high positive Coronavirus recorded in such local councils, the commissioner said because of the impossibility of implementing the lockdown made the state government not to consider it.

He added that unlike other states where there are distinct boundaries, Lagos does not have which would make it impossible to implement because residents would move across local governments without knowing they have.

He disclosed that 60 per cent of the positive COVID-19 cases in Lagos were shared among five local councils of Eti-Osa, Alimosho, Kosofe, Ikeja and Oshodi-Isolo, though Eti-Osa tops.

According to the commissioner, the state government would be increasing the bed capacity of its isolation centres by 220 beds, as a 70-bed space would be commissioned today at Ajao Estate while another 150-bed space would be unveiled next week in Yaba.

He warned residents against patronising laboratories not accredited by the state government to carry out COVID-19 test, maintaining that not all labs can conduct coronavirus tests. He further said that more private labs would be accredited to join the seven already approved. He disclosed that the seven labs have conducted 1538 tests in the last 14 days.

Abayomi stated that the state hopes to reach its peak in rising COVID-19 cases in August, which would then be followed by a flattening of the curve and decrease.

He further said the government would launch its home-based care management in the next few weeks, promising to continue to increase its testing capacity from one to about two to four thousand in the coming days.
