PoliticsAtiku Is Destined Never To Be President Of Nigeria – Oshiomhole by Abiboss(op): 10:38am On Mar 01, 2019
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) says the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the just concluded election was never destined to be Nigeria’s President.

He stated this on Thursday during a press conference in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

Oshiomhole was reacting to an earlier comment made by Atiku where he stated that the nation’s future rests with his presidency.

“But I think it also borders on arrogance. For Atiku Abubakar to suggest that our future is tied to his presidency. Atiku is destined never to be President of Nigeria,” Oshiomhole said.

He also accused Atiku of decamping from one political party to another all in a desperate bid to become the nation’s President.

According to Oshiomhole, Atiku’s alleged desperation created a conflict with former President Olusegun Obasanjo when he was Vice President.

“Atiku’s desperation is so obvious. He is so desperate that in 2003, he challenged his own boss, Obasanjo. He decamped to join (the defunct) Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and we offered him the ticket and he lost the election and returned to PDP.

“He contested again and lost the nomination and because he has only his interest at heart, he decamped again from PDP.

“He joined us in Lagos and rolled out the dollars, but we voted for Buhari as our candidate. He knew that he cannot defeat Buhari in the primary and went back to the PDP.

“Do you think that such a political rolling stone, does he think that Nigerians are so insincere as to think that a man who is not stable and whose interest is about himself will be a possible candidate to be elected?” he questioned.

Oshiomhole’s comments come a day after Atiku addressed a world press conference rejecting the result of the presidential election result announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

In the keenly contested race, INEC declared APC candidate, Muhammadu Buhari winner of the election after polling a total of 15,191,847 to defeat his closest rival and the PDP candidate, Atiku, who polled 11,262,978.

PoliticsN30,000 Minimum Wage: Buhari Govt Gives Update On Implementation by Abiboss(op): 7:09pm On Feb 28, 2019
Boss Mustapha, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, has disclosed that the Federal Government has made provisions for implementation of the N30,000 New Minimum Wage.

He stated this while addressing reporters in Abuja on Thursday, adding that the government was committed to the implementation.

He said, “Look at where we took it from; from N18,000 as a minimum wage.

“What is before the House of Representatives is N30,000, although our recommendation is N27,000.

“Whatever comes out of it, I can tell you that this President has sufficient capital in terms of his integrity to own up whatever the Nigerian people decide.”

Mustapha further explained that the government has made adequate arrangement in the 2019 Appropriation Bill, to cater for the new wage.

The SGF said that the importance of this was to give workers across the country a reasonable wage.

He added that President Muhammadu Buhari does not take the welfare of workers for granted.

He added, “We have made adequate provision in the 2019 budget; we mean well for the good workers of Nigeria.”

PoliticsHow Jonathan Gave Me N400m Before 2015 Elections, Metuh Tells Court by Abiboss(op): 5:20pm On Feb 26, 2019
Adekunle adekunle

….as EFCC accuses him of stalling trial
By Ikechukwu Nnochiri
ABUJA – Erstwhile National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Olisa Metuh, on Tuesday, narrated before the Federal High Court in Abuja, how he got N400million from ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, before the 2015 presidential election.

Jonathan and Metuh
Metuh, who is facing a seven-count money laundering charge the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, preferred against him, said the money was wired into his account, after he exposed some of the challenges that faced Jonathan’s re-election bid.

He told the court that Jonathan requested for his account number, after he watched a pesentation on strategies the PDP needed to adopt if it was to neutralize the political influence of the then opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, which had nominated General Muhammadu Buhari as its presidential flag-bearer.

According to Metuh who mounted the witness box to testify in defence of the charge against him, among those that watched the Powerpoint presentation with Jonathan, included the current Vice Presidential candidate of the PDP, Mr. Peter Obi.

Others were the then Vice President, Namadi Sambo, then National Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Adamu Muazu, ex-Cross River State Governor, Mr. Liyel Imoke and a late chieftain of the party, Chief Tony Anenih.

He said former President Jonathan was highly impressed with the presentation and assured that the party was in good financial standing to sponsor a favourable media campaign.

“He requested that I should give him account details for him to send money to handle what he called special assignment. He said the success of the assignment would go a long way in determining the survival of our democracy, especially the holding of a peaceful election.

“The President also directed his aides, Reuben Abati, Doyin Okupe and Oronto Douglas, to work directly with me under the supervision of Chief Anenih.

“As we got to the car park, the National Chairman told me that since the President was comfortable with my proposal for the media campaign, he said I should come to his house with my bill, together with the National Financial Secretary.

“He directed the National Financial Secretary to approve my outstanding bills and to keep for emergencies for my media campaign. Subsequently, he approved the program for the party’s media campaign”.

“The President later told me that he had paid N400million to my account and that I should start the assignment immediately.

“I thanked him and I directed Mr. Sam Ben, my Executive Assistant to call my account officer. We asked her whether I had N400m inflow into my account.

“She took a couple of minutes and confirmed the payment of N400m. Consequent upon that, we started the assignment”.

Asked if he was aware of the source of the the N400m, Metuh said: “I know the payment came from the President as a leader of the the party and with assurances of the funds that he personally raised from his friends.

“It is normal that the leader or candidate in an election spends money and contributions that are mostly made directly to him. I had knowledge that the leader of the party informed me that he made the payment of N400m into my account”, Metuh insisted.

He said he never knew that the EFCC was investigating him until his statement of account was published in a national daily.

“I became worried so I called my account officer to ask her whether the EFCC is investigating my accounts and why the bank failed to inform me before giving the details of my account to the media.

“She promised to get a copy of the statement to me but it was the same day that I was invited and arrested by EFCC.

“In the EFCC when they showed me what they said was my account, they asked me whether I had any business with any government establishment. I wrote down, that to the best of my knowledge, I had not done any contract or business with any government office within the last one year.

“They asked me whether I met with Dasuki, whether I had business with him and the ONSA.”

Meanwhile, EFCC, through its lawyer, Mr. Sylvanus Tahir, urged the court to compel Metuh to close his defence.

Tahir alleged that Metuh who commenced his defence since July 6, 2018, was deliberately stalling his trial with “irrelevant stories” that has no bearing to the charge against him.

Meanwhile, trial Justice Okon Abang has adjourned further hearing on the matter till March 4.

Metuh is facing trial alongside his firm, Destra Investment Ltd, for allegedly receiving N400m from the Office of the National Security Adviser, ONSA, prior to the 2015 presidential election, without executing any contract.

EFCC alleged that the fund was electronically wired from an account that ONSA operated with the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, to Metuh, via account no. 0040437573, which his firm operated with Diamond Bank Plc.

It told the court that the fund which was released to Metuh and his firm by detained former NSA, Col. Sambo Dasuki, retd,‎ ‎was part of about $2.1billion earmarked for the purchase of arms to fight insurgency in the North East.

Besides, the prosecution which had earlier closed its case after it called eight witnesses that testfied before the court, equally alleged that Metuh was involved in an illicit transaction that involved the exchange of $2million.

Metuh had at the last adjourned date, alleged that President Buhari was determined to jail him at all cost.

He told the court that his trial was a calculated attempt by the ruling APC to silence him from criticizing President Buhari’s dictatorial tendencies.

He told the court that top APC members had prior to the time the EFCC arrested and subsequently charged him for fraud, tried to dissuade him from attacking President Buhari in the media.

Metuh told the court that some of the APC members, met him on several occasions in Dubai, Switzerland and Paris to discuss possible roles they could play to strengthen the PDP to wrestle power from President Buhari.

He said the top APC members, who he did not disclose their identities, equally complained of President Buhari’s governance style, saying they had lost confidence in his administration.

Metuh said after he refused to soft-pedal on his criticisms, he started receiving warnings to be cautious of possible attack and judicial witch-hunt.

PoliticsRivers APC Ex-official, Fubara, Was Tied Like Crocodile, Beheaded – Party Agent by Abiboss(op): 10:25am On Feb 26, 2019
By Egufe Yafugborhi

Rivers State party agent for All Progressives Congress, APC, in Saturday’s presidential election, Samson Igerebara, yesterday, gave a graphic description of how militants killed, tied up, beheaded and paraded the community with the head of the party’s ex-official, Ignatius Fubara, shortly before Saturday’s election.

Igerebara also narated how Mowan Exeter, his elder brother and nephew, were killed.

Speaking at the state Collation Centre in Port Harcourt, Igerebara said there was no way the number of recorded voters could have voted during the ensuing stampede.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had announced 72,330 votes for Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and 72,766 votes for APC in the presidential polls held in Andoni Local Government Area, same day they were killed.

According to him, “he was killed alongside his elder brother and nephew. Thereafter, Mowan’s corpse was dragged round the streets of Asarama.

“At that point, everybody in the community ran away. From 8a.m. till 5p.m., you could hardly see even a fowl on the street.

“It is unimaginable for anybody to say elections took place in that Azarama Ward 9. Again, in Ward 8, precisely, Ajaghaja, Rivers APC Ex-Official, Ignatius Fubara, was tied as you would tie a crocodile.

“He was then taken to a slab where his head was chopped off. And those who chopped off his head demonstrated round the community with it.

“It is clear that a sane person would not stay in such environment to conduct elections, yet the Collation Officer and the Electoral Officer turned in results.

“For a human being to turn in results on the blood of innocent souls is the height of injustice and the authorities must look into it.”

POLITICSNASS crisis: APC, PDP Senators clash over moves to remove Saraki as Senate resumes todayPublished on October 9, 2018 By John Owen Nwachukwu

The Senator representing Ekiti South, Biodun Olujimi, PDP, has warned lawmakers of the All Progressives Congress, APC, against beating the drum of war over attempt to remove the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki.

Olujimi, who is coming in as the next Senate Minority Leader, said that Majority Leader, Ahmed Lawan as a principal officer and one of the oldest members of the eight assembly should be conversant with the workings of the National Assembly with regard to what it takes to remove presiding officers.

DAILY POST reported that Lawan had told the leadership of the APC and President Muhammadu Buhari, that the party’s senate caucus will impeach Senate President, Bukola Saraki, and “force through a lot of things” when lawmakers reconvene on Tuesday.

He said this during the APC Presidential Convention, held at the Eagle Square, in Abuja, at the weekend.

Also, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege (APC), representing Delta Central, had vowed on Monday that Saraki will be removed as Nigeria’s Senate President.

But speaking with Vanguard on the matter, Olujimi, said that the Senate was returning to face its duties more squarely.

The lawmaker, however, prayed that no one distracts them from working, adding that the unity of the Senate was more important than anybody’s inordinate ambition.

Senator Olujimi said: “The Senate leader, Senator Ahmad Lawan should not cause tension and problem in the Senate.

“He should not promise the APC what he cannot deliver, Nigerians should hold him responsible if the Senate is unable to sit because the leadership of the Senate is not by party affiliation, it is through an election among all the Senators.

“Lawan should be reminded that the election of the present Presiding officers of the Senate was done even when he was not present.

“He should be reminded that responsible senators who attended the inauguration of the Senate as announced by President Buhari elected the Presiding officers and that Ahmad Lawan as the Senate leader should be conversant with the procedure for the removal of presiding officers and for the avoidance of doubt, the Senate is solidly behind the presiding offers and we will resist any attempt that will offset the calm situation in the Senate.

“The Senate leader should please note that we are returning to handle all outstanding issues and he should be held responsible if we are not able to accomplish them.

“We ask him as one of the Principal Officers of the Senate to refrain from beating drums of war that will not do anyone any good.

“We have resolved as Senators of the Federal Republic to face our duties squarely and pray that no one distracts us.

“The unity of the Senate is more important than anybody’s inordinate ambition

Hoodlums Friday attacked policemen at the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, primary election in Delta State and set their patrol van ablaze.

DAILY POST reports that the hoodlums stormed the Ethiope-East Local Government Council, venue of Ethiope-East Constituency election during accreditation.

They blocked the gate while shooting sporadically and beating up the electoral officer who was to conduct the PDP primary election.

A serious fight, however, ensued between the hoodlums and some youths leading to an attack on the policemen and their van. A rifle was snatched from a policeman in the process.

The Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Muhammad Mustafa confirmed the report in a chat with DAILY POST.

CP Mustafa said, “There was a problem actually. It was the PDP House of Assembly election which held at Isiokolo. Though, we have recovered the rifle.

The situation has calmed down. One person was injured but it’s not that serious.”
