The road to America

By the end of March 2022, I have received responses for all my school applications. I have four total offers with one being funded. I was very happy but I decided to keep calm as I have read several cases of people being denied visas at the embassy.

I proceeded to arrange for the payment of my SEVIS and visa fees. I had a little delay with the payment of my SEVIS fee, so I could not pay on time. For this reason, I missed the early dates that were released for the interview. When the money was finally paid, I started looking for interview dates in Abuja. This process was arguably one of the hardest as dates were always not available. After a series of sleepless nights and sleeping on my computer keyboard, I managed to get a date that was a few days to resumption. I picked this date and began my preparation for the visa interview.

When it was two days before my interview, I left Ogun State for Abuja by road. Prior to this time, I have read news of kidnappings on the road. Although the news greatly disturbed me and my loved ones, the flight cost was exorbitant and going for that option would create a big hole in my finances considering my current and future expenses.

I got to Abuja at night and lodged at a guesthouse for two nights. On the day of the interview, I woke up very early and went to the US Embassy at Diplomatic Drive. When I got there, I met other people who were the for the same purpose and I went straight to the front. About an hour later, we lined up and were told to go in after the checks.

Throughout the process, I was so nervous because the stakes were so high. Since I was the first person in the queue, I was also the first person to be interviewed by the visa officer. My interview lasted for less than three minutes and I was approved. I quickly took my files and left the embassy for the guesthouse. Then I called my family and friends to inform them about the good news. It seemed surreal! My visa has been approved and I will be going to America!

A few weeks later, I booked my flight and the travel was scheduled for December. After spending time with my family and loved ones, I departed Nigeria for the United States in December 2022.

Yes, dreams do come true! I hope someone will try again one more time before giving up on life.

Congratulations šŸ‘šŸŽ‰.....Your story really motivates me to keep on pushing on, because my cousin committed suicide in 2018 due to things not working out for him despite been denied us visa twice....

You will be given an envelope to put all your belongings before going to the exam hall including your wrist watch except your writing materials.....they already have a clock where to know the remaining time left...

kenneyyice:

Sorry to bother you but I really need to ask this particular question. During the IELTS examination, will candidates be allowed to come into the hall with their wrist watches or will they be asked to remove them and use a stop watch in front of them? Learnt this from youtube just wanted to confirm if its same here in Nigeria too.

It will be sent to your email few days to your exam then you print it out and take it along with you to your test centre....it will also contain your candidate number too...take your pencil, pen, erazer, sharpener, face mask and the print out along with you.....
[quuote author=kenneyyice post=112033015]Hello house, when going for the exams, apart from our passport and writing materials, what else are we to bring along?

How will I obtain a print out of my application and confirmation forms? Will they later send me a PDF containing my details to print out towards my exam date? Or what.

Or should I just print out my mails??[/quote]

Sixfeetbelle:
Chim ooh! Local girl is tired. Ole ihe bu ihe nkaa? cry

The Genesis of the matter.

I just finished watching a romantic movie and I've been sighing longingly for over an hour. What is in this "love" that people are falling into everyday yet I've been unlucky in finding that place? And although I hear people say "there's no love in Nigeria", I can't help but doubt them when I see my timelines on Facebook. Wedding every Saturday, love in the air. Or is there own feem trick?. Does love segregate?

What pushed me to write this thread?

I just realised that as old as I am, I've never been in love before and I'm suddenly coming to the unpalatable conclusion that at the rate I'm going, falling in love may never happen to me (wails uncontrollably). I want to love somebody's son and I want somebody's son to love me back. Is it hard to do? angry

There was a time I thought I knew how to achieve this feat but conditions are not favoring my initial plans of travelling abroad, doing a whirlwind romance and falling in love like they portray that they do over there, so I've decided to cut my coat according to my cloth, literally, and just do the type practiced here. So early this year, I made a research (Aproko) on how best to achieve this and voila: Nairaland Romance section popped up in brilliant hues.

Romance-land and the word "love"

But contrary to my expectations, romanceland has failed woefully in trying to help me attain this goal (these peeps here don't know what love is). With their incessant need to discuss on repetition topics ranging from preeks and kitten to redpill and feminism, even broke guys and entitled ladies all day long, I've found it hard to actually pinpoint a topic/thread that centers/teaches on love and how to fall in it. Thus asking, should I consult another section and try my luck over there? Maybe politics section? Those guys over there "sound" vicious enough and since the violent taketh it by force...

What I need?

So I've taken it upon myself to make the necessary clarion call on behalf of all the single people like me who has never been in love before, and for those who wish to experience it again to get the directions they need. As I am ignorant about how to go about falling in love, I'd implore those with expertise to help us with plentiful knowledge on the matter so that we can all learn and apply it.

Specifically, I need clarification on: where the entrance called "love" is located so I can go and fall inside or is that it is no longer accepting applications at this time? Has the door of love finally closed? shocked

Thank you.

It's been 4months now...
Ok okay.....they can still make a direct transfer to your account.....I used Gtbingla for both western union direct to my account and also from bank transfer direct from US bank though, that one takes 3 business days to get into my bank account..
Romance / Re: What's Gtb swift code for international transfers by abidex0z(m): 6:07pm On Oct 24, 2020
You can tell the person to send it through western Union online to your bank account....it only take 1-2 hours to receive it......the only details you need is your name as it was written on your acc, swift code, account no,mobile phone no,,bank name.....Tis very easy, Western Union is going to ask the sender to verify his/her identity....a code will be sent to that person's email or phone no to verify it...

okay....you can try to go to any closest eco bank branch, tell the customer service rep what happened with an evidence......if they are lenient enough,he/she can easily put a restriction on the account and the bank will invite her for questioning.....if you have anyone that uses Eco bank, that will be feasible enough cos you and the person will have to go together to boost the chance of getting a positive response.....if you can't find anyone, you can still give it a try.......

That's crazy.....you can go to another branch......God knows I'm going to create a scene at the bank until they do the needful cos it can happen to anyone, and in some cases if it involves alot of money,, I know you won't let it go........ I guessed you are a cool headed person, who doesn't like to cause melodrama....they can easily place a restriction on that person's account at the bank.....they will have to send a mail to the bank of the lady or you can try to go to the bank that she was using inorder to place a restriction on her account inorder for the bank official s to summon her for questioning cos I know that she might still have some money left in her account, you have to show the bank all the evidence to prove......if I may ask, what's the name of your bank and hers....
