Health / High Court Ruling On NBC: 4 Things We Learned by abikun(m): 10:22pm On Apr 02, 2017 |
It is no more news that a Lagos high court ruled that NBC should place warning labels on its products stating that they are unsafe when consumed with Vitamin C. Here are the five things that from the whole scenario as it unfold A Norm in a Country is an Offence in Another Mr Adebo did not declare the destination of the products he purchased from NBC. While there are established standards globally guiding food and other products, there is room for adoption of standard/limit based on specific scientific evidence such as environmental, storage and distribution conditions. Hence he failed to check the standards of the country he shipped the drinks. This mean as an exporter, one has to ensure that exported products comply with the standards of the destination and cross check with the local regulatory agencies to ensure compliance. Otherwise, the whole thing will be exercise in futility. NAFDAC shirked in it responsibility Does the agency and other regulatory bodies aware of Mr Adebo shipment as at that time? Difference Between Administrative Approval & Fast Track Processes The process of registering regulatory products with NAFDAC usually takes a period of 3months or more depending on the product. Thus many manufacturers are discouraged to register their products. In light of this, NAFDAC introduced two processes to enable able and willing producers to register their products and obtain the registration number as soon as possible. The two processes are: Administrative Approval and Fast Track. Administrative Approval: the process involves submitting all the necessary documents as required by NAFDAC and make the official payment. Then you can apply for the administrative approval which attracts a fee of N120,000:00 plus a VAT of 5% i.e. N6,000:00 (Totaling N126,000:00). After this, the number will be allocated for the product and you can start producing and selling with the number. Fast Track: this does not attracts any major fee except little amount for processing. However, you can only apply for it in case you need to print your label overseas and as such you will like to print NAFDAC number on the label. Contrary to administrative approval, you can’t use the fast track number for producing and selling until the normal processes of registration is completed. Fast track initially can be issued as soon as you applied for it, but now it is issued after inspection of the company’s production facilities by NAFDAC officials. |

Food / What Has Been Your Challenge In The Renewal Of Your Production License? by abikun(m): 10:49pm On Jan 18, 2017 |
NAFDAC has intensified effort in cracking down on defaulters that failed to renew their expired production licences. Task force had been set up to fish out those defaulters. Why wait till the long arm of NAFDAC enforcement team caught up with you before doing the needful. Fine for payments of expired production license for sachet and bottle water companies is N20,000 for ATWAP members and N50,000 for non ATWAP members. Sachet water production license is for 2years while that of bottle water is 5years. Other food products vary. |

Health / Important Notice !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!to Bottle Water Producers by abikun(m): 9:54pm On Jan 05, 2017 |
IMPORTANT NOTICE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MANUAL BOTTLING PHASED OUT To all intending bottle water producers, NAFDAC had henceforth nullified the use of manual operation in bottle water production. Thus, all producers must have either Full Auto Bottle Machine or Semi auto Bottling Machine (which must include Corking Machine). This need arises to prevent human contact with the bottle water produce except in the area of labelling and shrink wrapping. This may not be unconnected with the recent public outcry about the quality of the bottle water being produced in the country. In light of this, no more manual washing, filling and corking operations in bottle water production. 1 Like |
