Good evening folks I really want to know why do people get angry when they are given anything with the left hand especially from the southern part of Nigeria. They just look at you with evil eyes like lack home training. Is it actually. A crime. Obama uses the left hand osinbajo uses his left hand too. And we got lots of left-handed persons. The Nigerian factor and the battle for supremacy between all the health workers will be an issue.

It will be a miracle if the Nigerian health care system can actually work in synergy but with all these bickering and "I own the patient you don't ". accusations and counter accusations by each of the health workers It may not last. Before you know what's happening it now be doctors vs paramedics, nurses vs paramedics ,pharmacists vs paramedics.

Nigerian health care system is in shambles already.

If all of them can put their ego aside and actually do their job it will work.

It seems only Lagos has an emergency medical system, and a lot of lives will be saved in emergency situations if this is replicated all over Nigeria.

The Lagos system also needs more coverage and improvement I think. One should be able to call if someone has an emergency situation at home and the ambulance will come over, but it seems it's only for road accidents.

Error is bound to happen but my question is. When it happens who manages it. Not a single emergency management agency in the state. If something like these were to happen broad u see paramedics with ambulance on scene,police.FRSC,fire,fighters every were but here in africa our leaders are nt even aware of what to do but rather loot funds.... May God open the eyes of our leaders.

NEMA/SEMA/ EMT PARAMEDICS... pls read patiently.

TVC NEWS revealed the massive flood in Maiduguri, Borno state. I was marveled when FG prompted NEMA to rescue the thousands of victim involved.
Funny enough, it's now the so call NEMA trying to train young recruits to attend to the emergencies in the state.
It was said by Olufemi Osayintolu - Convener Trainer that, 9 NINE MOBILE INTENSIVE CARE AMBULANCES was provided for the task in Maiduguri which I saw one of them to be fully equipped.
NEMA trains people in Maiduguri and tag them SEMA- State Emergency Management Agency. ...

Why do we like deceiving ourselves in this country right from Federal level to an individual, because of lack of preparedness.

University of Benin Teaching Hospital started the first EMT PARAMEDICS school in Nigeria in 2008. Which FEDERAL MINISTRY OF HEALTH AND NATIONAL BOARD OF TECHNICAL EDUCATION are fully aware, but yet to gain national recognition in this country. The real personnel to handle PREHOSPITAL EMERGENCIES in this country are available in UBTH, Benin city. Let's stop deceiving ourselves and put the right personnel in place for the benefit of all.

There are genuine EMT PARAMEDICS in this country who has been trained for any kind of PRE HOSPITAL EMERGENCIES even upto international level with standard curriculum adopted from USA Intensive Training which include;
*BASIC LIFE SUPPORT
*INTERNATIONAL TRAUMA LIFE SUPPORT
*ADVANCED CARDIOVASCULAR LIFE SUPPORT
* PRE HOSPITAL TRAUMA LIFE SUPPORT
*PEDIATRIC ADVANCED LIFE SUPPORT
*TACTICAL EMERGENCY MEDICINE
*EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES OPERATIONAL SETUP.
* ELECTROCARDIOGRAM etc.

FG, tell me what are you still waiting for in setting up EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES in this country for the benefit of all?

Nice thread. But the truth must be clearly stated some medical personnel have bad hand writing naturally its nt because they are doctors or paramedics or even nurses. Am a medical personnel. I have good writing. Нσω will u then categories all doctors or medical personnel's as persons with bad hand writing or they do it on purpose. Ethically abroad. You do nt spell. Or write. Anything which isn't clear. To others to read it must be readable and correct but here in nigeria they just over look everything.

About two weeks ago, my uncle was ambushed by robbers who left him for dead somewhere on the island... The good part is someone saw his condition and called Lagos emergency response at about 2pm "most people think they are a joke... Well, they ain't ".
They got to the location asap and applied first aid treatment then conveyed him to several clinics that turned him down until they got to LASUTH by 8pm. LASUTH admitted him and thankfully he survived..

I don't know who that good Samaritan was that made that call... The call that saved a life.. I say #ThankYou... Most people would have turned a blind eye... No one wants to get associated with a criminal case especially with the false stories of incriminating yourself circulating..

Another great thanks goes to the Medical Emergency team.... Those guys are wonderful.. They spent their whole day taking care of someone they don't know... While with him in the van, they were a source of hope.. With the bad experiences I've had with the medical sector.. I was shocked to my bones to see their conduct.
I wish I could put up their names and pictures... my heart is really filled with gratitude..

There are alot of negativity about our conduct as Nigerians and there have also been good reports which means there's hope.... We can redeem our image...
