Nigerians who studied or are studying in Germany, please can you share your experience with the education system? Life on campus, making friends, exams, and the weird things you’ve experienced. I’m looking forward to your stories

Education is quite tough here cos you have to combine it with hustling for your daily bread which most of us were not used to in Nigeria. Friends are mostly fellow Nigerians, a few Pakistani/Indians and Cameroonians. There's barely time to think and write epistles in exam halls as most exams last between 60-90minutes.
Weird thing has to be mineralwasser. Can't bring myself to accept it as normal water.

Presently, is there any school waiving the GRE/GMAT for graduate program in Germany?
You don't need any of those for admission to most schools in Europe

Hello All,

Well done! for the good job you are doing.

Please, does anyone here have lived experiences from these two cities or either of them? Or generally any knowledge of what it entails studying there? Experience regarding side job while studying, life in general, and how difficult it could be with little to no German language. I do plan to start learning German though, just waiting for response on my admission application.

University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg) --> International Economics (BSc) English taught
Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg ---> Business and Economics (BSc) English taught

They are both in "not much fancied Eastern Germany", but I had to decide for these two schools, because they are the only 2 schools I could find that teaches an Economics BSc completely in English in Germany. I had searched on the daad website, but feel free to suggest more.

Please, I would appreciate if someone can answer.

Nuremberg is in Bavaria not eastern Germany. No idea about life in those places

@ omojayeJaye nice one, it is possible to cross from Poland to Germany as a student or even go to Germany to work and return back when school resumes
Not possible to work in Germany as a foreigner if you are not a EU citizen but you can definitely visit.

Ok dear. But sorry to disappoint you.

3 people living and schooling in Germany were interviewed before this write-up was published.

2 are running a master's programme. The other is an undergraduate.

Besides, credible sources from Germany were consulted. Some of them were quoted in the write-up.

Don't conclude hastily. It unveils imbalance in assimilation.

The last drop! You can't tell if the OP had been to Germany.

But he/she just told you the average of what he/she spends on a monthly basis. Saw some expenses on that list that are exaggerated. Most students don't spend on public transport as long as your semester fee is paid(unless you are traveling out of the city/state of your studies). €168 for feeding in a month is a lot. Accommodation isn't as expensive as that for a lot of people except for Berlin and Bayern folks.€31 for phone, internet and TV is much. 4 people come together to pay €16 for premium Netflix. You'll get by with less than €500 conveniently. It's not that easy combining school with work and making €800 per month no be beans.

I wonder where you got all these averages you are quoting, any way I can see Google in action in your write up. For me I spend about 350€ monthly in accommodation, transport and feeding. We don't buy books here and I don't buy clothes monthly. Next time I will advise you to interview people who are on ground and don't just rely on Google.
God bless us
I was shocked when I saw €31 on phone and TV monthly

CIC requires 6 months average balance. But Nigerian Banks wont state this, so people include the 6 months statement let CIC compute themselves. if the money is from gift deed, sale of asset etc no need to 6 months statement
How about the official reference letter from banks? Is it a must?

Before Boateng's set, when last did Germany win a major trophy
Ronaldo De Lima has no Champions League medal. CR7 and Messi no World Cup medals. I guess Boateng is greater than them all.

If truth must be told.

Klopp will be no where near Pep, SAF and Mou when it comes to Achievements, awards, records and trophies.

No sentiment here.

Conte, Ancelotti and Enrique are more successful than Klopp.
The same Enrique that was booted at Celta Vigo bad Roma right? Well done

I think these players are good at best.
You need to go read about the achievements of Van Basten. Add Lothar Matthäus, Franco Baresi, George Weah in fact, the list is inexhautible.. Gabriel Jesus? Really!!

Someone should talk about cologne please.
Köln is one of the best cities in Germany as an international student in terms of opportunities. You already know that the better your language skills, the better life will be for you here but you can get by with English (jobs et al)
I'll advice you apply for accommodation at Kölner studentenwerk if you have an admission already.

This caught my eye. I sure hope this is achievable, it seems every government is deliberately frustrating every effort of improved power supply so the cabals can keep importing generators and sell diesel
I doubt they can achieve that. Current installed capacity is 1320MW and they barely generate 50% of installed capacity due to various reasons. 5000MW in 5 years from a single power station in this present Nigeria doesn't look achievable.
