Forget the question...or the possible outcome.

My only problem is with the seeming youth shouting "5 million is nothing". Really?

Do you know the percentage of Nigerians that doesn't have a hope of 1million till death? I mean hardworking Nigerians.

In the wage scale, what is the percentage of people that can earn 5m in a year, legitimately? 5million is still a big deal in Nigeria. Even in naira!

Never take most of the things you read on the internet serious. Average wage in Nigeria is less than 100k

Okay let me quickly chip this in.

Sometime ago I think around 2005 the government conducted a Post Enumeration Survey (PES). The aim was to check and verify the accuracy of an earlier Census that was conducted.

I was among the Ad Hoc staff posted to some riverine villages off Bonny Island in Rivers State.

We reach there, the people no reach 600 people but on paper they are over 85,000 people. I come start to the wonder which people them count during the initial Census.

I told my supervisor, Oga wey the 85,000 pple for this community?

He just look me shake head say make I no disturb am o.

Bottom line is CENSUS is highly politicized in Nigeria cos of resource allocation.

If it's not automated with biometrics like BVN, it will just be another waste of time and tax payers money.

Capish.

When you tell people there's no way Nigeria has a population of 200 million, they argue. Census is just a waste of money in Nigeria since we will never do it right

You seem to be giving excuses for this evidently weak husband.

How's it possible for your family members to send your wife out, and ''you will just be confused'' Nawaoo

If the guy had stood up like a man from the beginning when every family member was testing his/her 'superpower' status on his wife, things wouldn't have reached this ugly stage.

The guy didn't protect his wife/nuclear family enough and i must say that.

Exactly, the husband is a weak man. How could he allow his mother tell him the future mother of his kids is a stranger? And the audacity of his sister to insult his wife to be!

Marriage itself could be challenging especially in the early stage. All these drama from his family is totally avoidable.

I read some your past posts regarding your husband. It's clear you are already frustrated and you now resent him.. justifiably so. I feel for you honestly.. No one deserves an irresponsible husband!

If you can no longer endure the marraige, then pull the plug!

But before you do, please reach out to a few single mothers out there and find out how they are doing.. Let them tell you how market..

See, as a single mother, you'll continue to do all you are currently doing and even more.. And don't think an angel will just appear and will take care of your children for you.. It might never happen.. Trust me, before men will help you, majority of them will sleep with you.. If you don't have problem with that.. Please go ahead with the divorce

But she's more or less a 'single mother'. What's the point of being married to a man that doesn't provide for his family and is not ready to? The only thing she's probably getting from the man is sex.

A responsible married man that loses his job will dust himself up and make efforts to start providing no matter how little. His 'plan' is to hit the jackpot from gambling like most gamblers dream.

She said he gambled away his salary while he had a job anyways. She married an irresponsible man. She should weigh her options and decide what's best for her and the kids.

I think you and your wife will have to discuss on how best to reconcile your mum, with her mum and her too

All these drama is falling on you because you have to love them all equally

When your wife agrees to the reconciliation, invite your mum a day and invite your mother in law the next day

Seat the three of them down and let them know that you love them all and you want them to show love and respect to themselves if they all truly wants your happiness as you too wants their happiness

When you are done talking, let your wife move close to your mum and hug her and tell her that she loves her and wants her to see her as her daughter

That, if she has does anything wrong that she should say it so that she will apologize
Am sure your mum have no good reason to what made her hate her, your mum will embraze her as a daughter and the will reconcile

Then you guys will leave the seating room and ask the two mothers to reconcile themselves

By the time you come back, they will make peace with themselves and unity and love will reign in the mist of three of them

From there, they will be communicating steady with each other on phone

Then your wife will make it a point of duty to show love to your mum and always visit her and spend time with her so that they can bond well

Your wife doesn't need to argue or challenge your mum because she is her mother in law, your mum is getting old and she has the tendencies of having a feeling that your wife is talking you away from her, you are the only thing that makes her happy and gives her reason to be happy so just see it that way

Your wife needs to understand that, you are the only person your mum have and she should rather draw herself closer to mum than thinking of taking you a distance from mum

Your mother in law is just there to protect the interest of her daughter and nothing else

Both women should be communicating with themselves steadly and visit each other if possible to create a good bonding

Lastly, you are trying to provide for them as you have stated
Just keep it up its not easy as all of them wants your attention and care

You think a vindictive, tribal bigot who is probably close to 60 or above is capable of change? Why anyone would choose to marry into a family that was cold to them is beyond me. The MIL never liked the lady.

Op case is even worst
He is the only child... Double wahala
Plenty wahala as he's the only child. The only reason the marriage might stand a chance is the fact that the guy is reasonable and can clearly see that the mum is the architect of the whole drama.

Covering up a crime is a crime itself which the wife is guilty of. The wife and her mother would go to jail for that. The perpetrator is a minor and would be adequately punished by the law - might not be jail time.

Not sure anybody here is rejoicing over what is happening in Nigeria as we are all Nigerians but there comes a time when one must look out for his/her personal interest.

The collapse of naira in the last 8 years means most people would be better off holding a strong currency rather than investing in any naira denominated instrument.

The useless Tbills is more certain than the gambling in dollar, the reverse might be the case. The dollar is weaker as at today, it's only deemed strong when compared to a weaker currency like ours.

Tbills is a secured investment, better than not investing at all. If I want to take risk, I will take a far better risk like I did last time.
Everybody knows that the naira will not appreciate with this present government in power so those holding the USD are in a safe haven for now.

Hmm
This is common among some i.gbo women and their maids.
I rarely hear of an I.gbo Oga treating his apprentices badly. None of that till his boys gets their freedom and be on their own.

I don't know why we having weak men these days. Perhaps the woman husband wanna avoid trouble with his wife so as to continue getting sex which is not right. Why stand another child being maltreated except the husband also approve of it too and no different from the wife. undecided

God forbid my woman maltreat a maid like this and she failed to listen to several of my warnings. I will file for divorce straight. I'm sure she will come to her senses by then

It is wickedness to treat another human bad just because they aren't your kids or related to you.
That is toxic and chances that her kids will learn it from her and maltreats their maids/anyone that isn't related to them or have little respect for in future is very high ...

I strongly advocate for an organization be set up in the east to do house to house checks on kids in every family there. Checking their body for marks and privately asking them questions.
Some of these i.gbo busyBody women will receive sense and sit tight but before then the organization I'm sure would had made thousands arrests of child abuse offenders
No minor should be a maid. That's child labor but then this is Nigeria - anything goes. You can only find this in impoverished countries.

Alienated in the sense that you are not included in major family decisions. Sister inlaws are spreading rumours that you married a bad wife and yet you support her in every way. Your siblings have totally shut you out.

Yes you made the right decision to support your wife and protect her which is your main priority. But how about the relationship with birth family, will you just let it go like that? Just because they refuse to be reasonable. You have explored all avenue to ensure you keep both parties happy. But birth family feel they should be prioritized and given the chance to maltreat your wife as they choose or let go of whatever bond or relationship you have with them.
Maybe you are married to a weak man who is not wise enough to compartmentalize his family life. No sibling should get too comfortable to the extent of maltreating or insulting you just cos you married into their family. Sadly what you are going through happens and the society expects the wife to turn a blind eye.

Kids adjust faster to situations compared to adults. At age 8, they're probably in primary 2 or 3. Let them enrol in a public school, their mum can make up for the deficiency if there's any.
They should hope for the best even though the country barely gives one hope.

I'll start with Food.

This is one of my worst experience here. Feeding for here na war. Bread, morning and night. I'm not one who really likes too cook. And I know how to cook only few foods sef. Unlike 9ja, whereby you can enter with shikini money buy confirm food chop, it's not so here. I mostly eat bread, concoction rice, fried chicken, salad, when I go to the African store I buy plantain too, their yam is so expensive so I don't buy it. Oh, there's also beans too, It's quite expensive, I love beans so I buy it anyways. If you decide to buy food outside, maybe restaurant or whatever, just go with your seasonings because their foods are always tasteless, it smells nice but doesn't taste good. Except you go to burger King or KFC or McDonald's. For me now, burger don be like dream food for me, before Corona I eat it almost every day. Either I eat it or I eat Doner.

Why not try buffet from other cultures (say Italian, Chinese etc)whenever you eat outside. They taste better compared to German restaurants and some could be as low as €10 and you'll eat till you can eat no more
