Its so worrisome and problematic. Especially we - March applicants, its as if they practically forgot everything about us.
I don't know why they are not answering March applicants now, but I know it will surely end in praise for us all.

I just found out that I bleeped up. I haven't done my Medicals. My Medicals is coming up on 3rd June. And from the CIC site, it's stated that a complete application must include Biometrics and Medical results. And that's the application they will complete by Aug 6.
Why did CIC not say that we need Medicals immediately? These people are just somehow
I tire for them ooo, I submitted my application since March 15th too, I didn't know it requires that I do upfront medical, and look at them now.
Well, it will end in praise.

FINALLY MY LANDING GIST !!!

we departed lagos on Sunday 27th December 2020 with EGYPT AIR.

before my flight
so i woke up at about 3:10AM on sunday, bags packed then it dawned on me me that i was finally leaving Nigeria. i had mixed feelings at first as i was heading to a new country i kept refleting o the journey so far from when i joined this thread in March 2020 how helpful its been cause i didn't use any agent, the long wait with unertainties from IRCC VFS and the likes. when the day broke i was filled with joy as my sister kept hyping me, so went to church to praie and thank God for everything before Leaving for the Airport.

LAGOS AIRPORT
So i got to the airport at about 11AM thinking i would just walk in as i had cheked in online the previous day, but no o, na so them diret enter queue . the checked all necessary documents, it was intact, i didnt need to settle anybody a dime. i saw one beautiful babe but didn't know it was Dameelee since i wasn't sure she was the one so i sent her a message through Nairaland DM she idn't reply so i said nor be she.
naso plane come o, looking very very scary, wasn't sure if i shuld board but when you look nigeria, you nor go thing twice run enter plane.
ADVICE- Bring everything you need cause services at the airport is expensive (Biro N100, Photocopy N300, Mask N500, Withdraw Cash N500 for N3,000 etc)
so the plane left, and time for food naso them give us bread and bread and bread mixed with chicken and cheese, my pain with the food esp the bread i that they were all very cold. for me the food is ZERO, so after 5 hours we got to Egypt, went straight to the immigration section, then i realised i didn't travel with my Tuition Reciept but thank God it was nott noticed. Then i confirmed this beautiful lady i saw in Nigeria was Dameelee and we connected grin grin grin she was nice, we waited for 4hours and now it wa time to board Cairo to Toronto. the plane was so beautiful and sharp.

tho i never enter plane before but the flight was loooooooooooooooooooooooong embarassed

after about 12hours we got to Toronto, OMOOOOOOOOOR!!!! Na me be this? from Warri to Toronto? i wan happy die but base on who we be we just package like say na normal life for us but if you see my MIIIIIND!!! i don throw backy tire. was still looking out for Dameelee hoping she nor miss for air cause she also got window seat wink wink wink
Fist time i saw Snow Live through the window i just dey smile inside my mind but outwardly we package ourself cool

fast forward, we got to immigration and my tuition reciept became an issue, i was delayed for some minutes cause they had to verify if truely iwas a student of CONESTOGA COLLEGE, finally baba gave me my Study Permit. OMOOOOOOOOR!!! i saw angels rolling re carpet for me to enter, naso me and Dameelee dey call family telling them we don finally land and cross POE grin grin grin

The HON RALFUDOH contacted me to pick me at the airport, when i stepped out of the aiport, MY PEOPLE OOOOOO shocked shocked shocked shocked the cold wen slap me eh infact the cold when HIT me, two seonds i reverse enter airport again before person turn okporoko cheesy finally HON RALFUDOH CAME jamming Naija gbedu songs in his car, was so warm inside.. As we dey drive, naso i dey talk OMOOOOOOOR!!! na me dey canada llike this grin grin grin Na me dey see Snow like this.
HON RALFUDOH was so nice that the gave me served me RICE and Confirm Pepper Stew, the food enter wella for the cold.
story still dey o but make QUARANTINE FINISH FIRST before them find me come house.

i kept saying when i sleep and wake up and i am still here then i am in Canada grin as i wake up open window see snow dey fall then YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!! i am in Canada cool cool cool

i want to sincerely thank everyone in this platform foryour constant help by dishing out valueable information as i did everything from scratch till i landed. GOD BLESS Y'ALL

special thanks to HON JEPHEPHE and HON RALFUDOH for helping me settle down without stress.

to everyone still in this journey, keep faith alive as 2021 is yours to conquer.

today is Day 7 of my Quarantine and honestly i am lovely it here smiley canada is sweet with friendly people and i am loving the cold now. cool cool cool
Hon ralfudoh has been helpful since i landed with anything i need. thank you so much
Congratulations.

BaesDiary

1) Your first option should be EE, use the CRS tool to simulate your score and that of your husband and see if any of you will reach the cut off for the last draw which was 468. You can google “CRS score tool Canada” and answer the questions to see your score. If you haven’t written IELTS yet just fill in any score (good marks) that you think you can achieve when you take the exam. If EE is not possible, you can then consider a PhD

2) one person can apply for a PhD first and take the others as dependents. So one partner can work while the other studies (my personal opinion)

3) Most PhDs come with funding from the institution. For your visa/study permit application, it’s same POF required as with other study permit applications. 10k cad for living expense + 1 year tuition. But I’ll advise you have way more above that because of your family. You’ll need to show there’s money left for the rest of the family to live on.

4) It’s not compulsory but how can they know your capabilities and profile without seeing your CV? It’s advisable to attach a well written CV

Best wishes

One of the requirements of a student visa is to clarify intention of returning to home country after the study. With a PSW program, I am not sure that is an acceptable certification in the Nigerian health industry, so how will you say you want to use it when you return? This is going to be a big question mark on your application.

Also, it is a Post-secondary certificate level program in most colleges, not even up to a diploma. And you have a Master's, right?

Just reiterating already known points for the sake of your immigration history. Think about this very carefully.

Yes, but not in all cases so we shoud not generalize. Consider someone with 10 years work experience and 2 masters (not even one with one of those earned from the USA). But the person is 40 years old and the wife with a Bsc is over 37 years already, how would that assumption work? I think you can add a "caveat" to avoid unintended misinformation.

Akannitommy sir, so age is a huge factor here too?

You can surely go as a student first then eventually for the EE (express entry). But I would really emphasize on chocs advice... Just prepare for EE. Focus on Ielts first (LRSW = 8777) at least. You have a very good chance since both yourself and your husband have masters cert.

One you get the PR, you can then choose to study, the cost of this will be lesser since you will get the privileges of a citizen.

Pls, don't go for the adv dip...unless of course u have a genuine reason to switch careers.... Emphasis on the word "genuine"...

JosephYemsol thank you for your time and advise.
I'm trying to study the express entry now so that I can understand it very well, cos I don't know anything about it.
Honestly I want to switch career, and the course is Personal Support Worker (acute care), it's NBCC graduate diploma for fall 2021.
Pls what do you suggest I do now, I'm confused ooo.

@AbionaT please, like @chocs said, DO NOT HIDE YOUR MSc. You can either go for express entry (since you have masters and working experience). But if you must go the study route, then you can go for PhD or another masters.
As for you having an admission for a diploma course, hope it is advanced diploma (in science, which is different from your current field)? If yes, then you need to explain to the go why you want to change career(mind you, you have every right to change career but you MUST convince the vo why you intend doing that at this stage of your life).
N.B: I want to re-emphasis this: DO NOT HIDE YOUR MASTERS DEGREE, PLEASE!!! It is better you let them know then explain you want to change career, maybe due to wanting a new challenge or something that holds water.

mcobex thanks so much
The course is Personal support worker (acute care, its a year program.
I want to know how to write a convincing Sop, and as you earlier advised I don't want to hide the Masters certificate, I have 9 years working experience .
Pls if you can help or you know anyone that can help for the SOP.

Hello AbionaT,

You can consider the express entry which makes you become a permanent resident of Canada (you’ll need a master’s, 3 years of work experience and good IELTS score) For more information, you can google express entry Canada and read about it. They award points based on the factors I listed plus other factors, if you meet the cut off, you’d be invited to apply. There is a tool that helps you calculate your score. You can input expected scores for example if you haven’t taken Ielts and see what your final score would be. That way you can know what and what to work on to qualify. You can google “CRS score tool Canada” to see this tool.

In the case that one out of you or your spouse do not have a master’s or the required work experience you can go as a student. It could be one of you who has a master’s, it mustn’t be the both, anyone that meets the criteria can apply and take the others as dependents.

If you decide to go as students, this is the right thread, I’d encourage you to read the thread from page one to more info.

Best wishes

Pls how do I go about the express entry?

quote author=iampaulsmith post=97594709]If you have a masters degree and you are currently working why not consider Express Entry then. With your NYSC one year working experience I think you just need 2 years working experience and good iELTS score to meet the cut-off. Just my advice. I’m sure the gurus here will give their advice on your intended program that does not match your previous study but I don’t think it looks good.
