Nairaland / General / Law Enforcement Officers Zeal To Their Job: Greed Or Diligence by abuabdrahman(m): 6:01pm On Feb 25, 2021 |
Law Enforcement Officers: Greed or Diligence Many atimes we see police, LASTMA,KAI,Road safety etc showing so much commitment to their jobs as though it's a lifeline, but come to think of it ,is it the love of this job that makes them so active or some thing else. Naturally a doctor who is diligent at his work understands the rudiments of what he is doing ,knows when to refer a patients to a higher medical facility for procedures that are beyond his or her capacity and will not hold on the patient because of money same as a some professions . They know when to leave financial gains aside and follow the dictates of their profession. Safety is part of the training given to traffic officers and in no time should a sane mind compromise his safety for task, but No, a LASTMA or "Road Safety" official will hang on to your bonnet risking his own life for a "bribe". In a safety program, Enforcement is the last line of action after Education and Enlightenment . It's so pathetic how some enforcement officer loose their life because of greed, many of them leave way above salary because they milk road users ,atimes they deceive commuters to one way and then arrest them ahead and will deny at the end of the day. The jobs comes with lots of Hazards but they added greed as a catalyst for probability that the hazard leads to an accident . They look away when public transport (Vanagaon etc) violates traffic rules but chase private vehicles as though different rules applies to both entities, reason being that they have stakes in most this Danfo I had an experience whereby I had fuel in my trunk (boot) and I heard gbum! The Jerry can fell in the trunk, I pulled over to lift it up back, as I was about closing the trunk ,they blocked my vehicle and seized the vehicle for parking on the road, I explained to them with all obvious evidence, mhen they just looked away ,took my car away to the LASTMA yard, it was "one garage chairman" who just spoke to the officers that I got my car free of charge. As much I will not encourage violation of traffic rules ,the traffic officers too needs to watch the intent of their actions, are they doing their job diligently or just exploiting road users. Dear Enforcement officers, The truth is the people are angry and will just be waiting for a day you will need a favour from them or a day they will try one charm on you or crush you to an injury or death or at least curse the hell out of your generation... either of this is not a good news to your family and loved ones. Do your job diligently Do it with integrity Fear the God in all your disposition. What will meet you cannot miss you and what will miss you could not have met you. Azeez Sulaiman |

1StopRudeness:I will start with your first quote, firstly am sure you are not grounded with the knowledge of islam and perhaps lifted those verses to taint the Deen of Islam. the first verse you mentioned is in surah Baqora vs 191, buh did you take a look at the preceding verse " 190. Fight in the cause of Allah those who fight you, but do not transgress limits; for Allah loveth not transgressors." now there is also a reason of revelation of that verse , which is being explained in the collection of the messenger Muhammad (alayhi salam ) also on the second verse yoou raised, am sure you know the verses were revealed at the time enemies Attack the prophet and the Muslims after which Allah reveal a message to His Messenger the verse says 33."The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger, and strive with might and main for mischief through the land is: execution, or crucifixion, or the cutting off of hands and feet from opposite sides, or exile from the land: that is their disgrace in this world, and a heavy punishment is theirs in the Hereafter;" 1 Like |

1StopRudeness:perhaps I need to educate your illiteracy, even in the American Army ,it is officially stated that a female soldier can wear her hijab tucked in her uniform and it was a Nigerian female Army that facilitated that development,. it is the same democracy that gives the right to practice one's religion. Amasa have won her case without a fight or protest or fight , she just declined to disobey her Lord and at the end ,without a kiose , she won the battle against millions of people against her. Islam have not preached killings of human, it come with peace as there are verses in our book that even prohibits such. 3 Likes |

HigherEd: many that have commented here have only come to express the hatred they have for Islam, no one have tried to confirm the authenticity of the post itself, buh since its an avenue to speak againstIslam then every one brings out the venom in their speech. i do not expect that an educated individual will believe in this cheap propaganda of islamisation, this is not a dictatorship government where things will just happen overnight , there are three arms of govt, with people of different culture ,religion ,ethnic ,language, thougts etc. and you expect that with all this , something can just happen? definitely NO perhaps you need to know somethings , get your facts so you can make a good argument, first is that LASUTH is first a medical institution who has students of varying religious background, most times in the architectural drawings of schools , there are provision for TWO churches and ONE mosque (how is that?) buh am sure you wont see anything wrong in that cos you are a christian ,i also don't see it being wrong as a Muslim (that we get one mosque allocation as against your two churches because our religion is not in diversity, its tenets are unified). notwithstanding, there is a provision for the place of worship. am sure you stay are familiar with Lagos and you may know LUTH idi-araba, despite the very big land mass , this federal teaching hospital did not allocate a land for mosque inside the school buh there are churches (at least am very sure of a big catholic church opposite one of the car-parks) inside the school only for the mosque be sited outside the school compound , what do you say to this injustice? insincere people wouldn't see anything wrong in all of this because of the type of people they are buh will be quick to express their hatred for Islam. |

There is not even a bill thaat prohibits a female law student from covering her head, if you have pls bring forth as I have in custody rules and regulations binding on students in NLS abuja campus, mind you I have been there. it is just a creation from sentiments that lead to this hijab brouhaha, there is no legislation to back it up . female students wear the headcovers in their classes so why the exception during call to bar As much as I know the country to be a secular one,it also respects the right to practice the faith of its citizens irrespective of which part one belongs to, why have we forgotten that part of the constitution that right to practice ones faith. |

having read some comments, I can see high level hypocrisy displayed here. the niqab depicts a high level of modest dressing but it's been tagged indecent because it's has a basis been traced to islam. there is a freedom of practicing ones religion, and the niqab is a command in Islam,if you choose to walk naked ,it your headache .at least some people wear bearing cleavage and body revealing clothes to there places of worship. Education / 35 Years After: How OOUTH Produced Nigeria’s Best Medical Graduate by abuabdrahman(m): 7:55pm On Jan 28, 2017 |
WHAT a coincidence for the Olabisi Onabanjo
University, Ago-Iwoye in Ogun State after being
awarded best state university in Nigeria, also
produced arguably the best medical graduate in
the country through the Obafemi Awolowo
College of Health Sciences of Olabisi Onabanjo
University .
OOU, owned by the Ogun State Government
has emerged as the best state university in
Nigeria for the year 2016. The award, which
was presented by the Institute for Governance,
Research, Leaderships and Technology,
acknowledged the school’s standard and
academic excellence was first among equals.
Vanguard also learned that two of its Law
graduates bagged first class degrees at the
2016 Bar Examinations at the Nigeria Bar Final
Examinations. It was further learnt that the
Faculty of Law of the University has been
outstanding in the final bar examinations over
the years.
Meanwhile, Vanguard gathered that in the
annals of the OOU Teaching Hospital which was
established as one of the foundation colleges
and faculties in 1982, no student had ever
recorded such an outstanding performance.
•Olabisi Onabanjo University,
Ago-Iwoye, Ogun state
Outstanding performance
The management announced a-29-year-old Dr
Saheed Alabi as the overall best student having
secured distinction in seven medical-related
courses out of the 10 courses offered.
Further findings have also shown that, Dr. Alabi
who was fondly called Chromo by his
colleagues arguably emerged as the best
Nigerian medical graduate produced by the
Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital
this year. According to the management, Dr .
Alabi broke the protocol as he scored
distinction in anatomy, biochemistry,
physiology, pathology, paediatrics, medicine
and surgery.
Announcing the rare performance, the former
Ogun State Chairman of Nigeria Medical
Association, Dr. Olusegun Jagun, who anchored
the programme said, Dr. Alabi succeeded in
breaking the protocol which has never
happened in the annals of the OOUTH since it
was created 35 years ago.
Dr. Jagun’s position was corroborated by
President OOU Medical Students Association,
Adesina Oluwafemi, who called him ‘world
best.’
Adesina who presented a plaque to the ‘world
best’ was also joined by National Secretary,
Obafemi Awolowo College of Health Sciences
Medical Alumni Association to present a prize
of the best paediatrician in memory of late Dr.
Olabisi Owoeye.
This rare feat prompted the State
Commissioner for Health, Dr. Babatunde Ipaye
to launch an education foundation in his
daughter’s name, Ajoke Ipaye, as he announced
that annually he will be giving the overall best
student, a sum of N100,000 while best student
in community health will take N50,000 .
Representing the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Saburi
Adesanya at the induction ceremony held at
OOUTH where 55 medical students were
inducted as doctors, his deputy, Dr. Ebunoluwa
Oduwole said, their medical doctors have been
rated as best in the world.
Meanwhile, the vice chancellor, while
addressing newsmen on the coming
convocation disclosed that the Senate has
agreed to confer a special degree award on the
overall best student following an
unprecedented brilliant performance. |
