Knowlegeseeking:
My people,

Thank you for helping me stay on track with my ACCA and audit career.

Please come out and help me with taking this decision.

I have 2 jobs offers. One with the audit firm (company A) i currently work with on a part time basis (unto 20hrs limit) which is offering me 5 years sponsorship and another audit firm (company B) offering me 2 years fixed contract based on me going on a PSW visa route first, and subsequent sponsorship when i get chartered.

The second company is a top 15 audit firm here with very good pay and benefits. The one i currently work with is on the lower cadre of audit firms and the pay and benefit is not as good as the former.

For company A (sponsorship), i will bear the cost of Visa and IHS for the 5 years (9,086 with the going rate or 13,624 if the new rate is applicable by October). This calculation includes my spouse and I. There is the option of paying this cost overtime by direct deduction from my salary.

But if i go with going on the PSW first and finishing my exams, I only bear PSW costs (3,926 pounds with the current rate or 5,785 if the new rate is applicable by October). company B assures bearing all costs of sponsorship when we get to that bridge.

I have considered career trajectory, interests, work-life balance, proximity, etc, and the company B tick more boxes.

In your honest opinion, please tell me what the best choice will be.

Thank you.
Money you spent on company is an investment on time cos you get pr in 5 years after which you can join any top 4 audit firm in the uk but with company B its 7 years moreso they may change mouth for your when posy study about to expire were will you run to

Hopefully we can get to the stage where someone will not need to fill e-mandate before getting their dividend. I believe the issue of having to complete e-mandate is discouranging some people particularly those in the diaspora from investment in NSE
Too easy but we don't harmonise data in Nigeria. Everything to pay e dividends is with cscs. Just get data from cscs and pay or give cscs additional responsibility to pay dividends to investors bank

I dont get it ,why the mad rush for octopus ? Octopus that can increase your DD without prior notice and their tariff is not even cheap . octopus can use 2 weeks to respone to your mail and you cant reach them even on phone .I use octopus but I cant stand the shock of their daily increase of my tarrif based on one their experimental forecast which doesnt even make any sense to me and i am already shopping for a better energy deal elsewhere .Goodbye to bad riddance .
Octopus is the most transparent energy company I ever used in the uk as you will be seeing your daily consumption in real time from the app as long you are using smart meter. Some energy company are crook and will charge you high for no reason like sse

Career / Re: My Banker Friend Quit His Job To Work In A Car Wash by abuhusna1: 3:17pm On Aug 07, 2023
Battlefield2:
Seriously, I'm pained right now,how can one decide to be stvpid and senseless at the same time
Before I begin, I swear to God who made me, this is not a lie, this is a true story....The story may seem long

So I have this friend, a close friend that works in a bank in Lag, he lives In his family house because his parents are late and he earns 70k plus, though he complains every now and then that the salary isn't much, if he collects salary by month end, before the 10th of the following month,he is already calling me for help on transports and all that and once in a while I help him with 1k or 2k to take transports and all that.

Last weekend,he was discussing with me on WhatsApp about car washing business, telling me it's lucrative and all those....I didn't pay much attention to it until he called me on Thursday and started crying...I asked him the problem,he told me a cousin of his sweet talk him into car washing business that it is lucrative and he can earn as much as 5k a day washing cars and he dropped the bombshell

He told me he sent in his resignation letter on Monday and Parked out of his family house telling those ones that he has been transferred to another branch, he moved to the one room apartment the car washing company provided to him n 3 other guys and started work. He said he hoped in his mind that if he can make 5k a day, he can save as much as 3-4k daily and that is a big improvement to the bank work

The reason for the lamentations now was things are not the way his cousin told him,he said since last week Monday up till this moment, they have only washed maximum of 3 cars per day and at the end of the day, the owner only gives them 5h each in which he used for eating. I requested for video call on Sunday and he is seriously looking lean and unkempt

He apologized that he didn't seek an advice from me or anyone before taking that bold move, he told me he is seriously depressed and wants me to profer a solution to him

Problem now is,he told me he is ready to quit the work and come to a different state that I am in other to restrategize.....I don't know what to tell him because I don't have much too and I'm struggling too because I'm sure if he comes,I will be fully responsible for feeding and all that
Moreso,I can't tell him "No" because right now,he has no where to go,his parents are late and he has already packed out of his family house rendering him homeless, moreso he is my very good friend

So I seek an advise from you all
Pls advise me, I'm confused!
I want to assure you that you will lose yourself trying to please others. If he can take decision without you I'm sure he can bear the outcome alone cos if he had been making good money like they told him he won't reach out to you for a long time

It's crazy. Do you know that 4.5 x Annual Salary mortgage means half of your Salary will be used for Mortgage Repayments?

Example: Someone who earns £40,000 which is about £2,500 gets a mortgage of 4.5x which is £180k. That person will be paying about £1,250 monthly which is half of his salary.

So one needs to stay low on prices now o, don't overstretch your affordability, guys
You paying more or same rent and rent money is dead money

Please, I need advice on an urgent matter.

My brother applied for a 6-month UK visa around mid-July as a first-timer. He picked up his passport today, but the duration on the visa vignette affixed to his passport is more than the six months he paid for. The visa runs from September 2023 to September 2025.

Do you guys think he should inform UKVI or he should stay silent and continue to use it? Has this happened to anyone before?

Do you guys think they will discover this later?

If your bro no feel comfortable he can go return it

Hello everyone!!
Please for those who have dome their Police clearance for Nigeria from UK, how did you go about the fingerprinting?

Did you apply to the UK police fingerprint unit?

I got a new job and the company is asking for my prints as they want to do their own background checks. They have requested a PCC too from Nigeria. Mehn the cost of an appointment is almost £200 . Do you think I should ask them to pay for it instead?

Abeg help me.
Criminal record in nigeria is now online and you get it within 48 hours s they will use your international passport fingerprints no need to thumb print again.

All those sectors now uses tech to operate. Even VIO in lagos have better TECH and they stop chasing people up and down for fine. Camera captures you and you get your fine as sms or when you want to renew

Services in the NHS is for only Citizens and Residents. A baby born here to immigrant parents has access for free for 3 months after which you either pay out of pocket, or get a visa fornthe baby.

The exceptions are some Emergency services that are for every person in the UK... Also, for minor cases, vaccinations, etc, most GPs won't bother charging. But such parents should pray the child doesn't need a surgery or treatment like hernia, the BILL would be heavy.
Normal you get your baby register the type of visa you hold to qualify for nhs usage it's not automatic

Using nhs us not public fund as long as you work and pay for nhs or you are in healthcare job.
