Flexyshyo:For F-1, they do in one week to a month. The closer the resumption, the more accelerated. For tourists, people have been on admin for over a year (especially, those from red flag countries). |

Sorelee: Actually, all F-1 holders are potential migrants and they know this. No standardized test probably means not so serious about school. I don’t think taking a test (for sole purpose of visa interview) is a good investment. He may never even be asked about it in his next interview. There are other parts he could sell, such as where he had the experience (assuming it’s a good brand). 1 Like |

There are jobs only in consulting and banks. Big four firms, Access bank and co. Anything outside that, no! Especially if you studied Engineering, you’d be forced to go to Big Four or a bank. By the way, since that FPSO landed in Nigeria, TOTAL has not blinked light on recruitment. Who will run that ship? That Nigeria sef. Better leave! 3 Likes |

The only lesson I can see here is that - if you are black, the only way to break down mighty corporate doors is by going to an Ivy League; MBA preferably. 1 Like |

What do you need it for? I mean to say: there have been more recent accounting texts that can help with the existing accounting developments. Is it ICAN, ACCA, or B.Sc. school work? There are more recent materials available online. But none of us would ever forget Frank Woods (the 1st volume ) |

ChristoBam: I think she can apply for the visa in Ukraine. That said, if she does in Lagos, the consular may be wondering what happened that she changed her mind. She probably wants to say that she just took language preparation course as you said. Answering your question, yes, she has a better chance. |

Lorax: If you want to leave the country (permanently) immediately after your graduation, then think within the lines of Economics, Finance, Accounting (if you want to be a US CPA as US uses US GAAP while Nigeria uses IFRS). You can also choose specialized courses in these field, such as Developmental Economics, Quantitative Finance, etc. If you plan to come back to Nigeria after your course, then don't bother travelling, just stay and smash your ICAN - it is more important than a Master's for you, for a finance job. 2 Likes |

bigwizzy001: 1. You can first start preparing and when you know you are fit, then register for the test. 2. Check the websites of the schools for deadlines, then you can clear your GRE like three weeks before deadline and apply to the school before deadline. Why do you assume, though, that I'm a bro. That's kind of sexist lol. 1 Like |

Career / Re: The Dilemma Of An Undergraduate From A Poor Background. by Accscholar: 12:20pm On Dec 31, 2017 |
This person should graduate first. These days the course that you studied does not really matter. As long as he graduates with a minimum of 2:1, and in a much better position, a First Class, he would get a job. But please, tell him to delete his passion for Microbiology if he wants to stay in Nigeria - he'll just be in one dead unfunded, unequipped lab somewhere. Otherwise, he should go to more developed countries where his passion for microbiology would be realized. If he wants to stay in Nigeria, though, jobs yapayaski. Deloitte, KPMG, Mckinsey, PwC, Banks, etc. None of them would look at your course of study, as long as your grades are tight. Best wishes |

bigwizzy001: I'm assuming that the person has not applied to any school. Before you apply, you need some time to prepare for the test. Let's say you take the test by March, many (good) schools would have reached deadlines for the Fall semester by then. So you may not likely meet up. Nonetheless, if you are from India or maybe China , you can prepare for a short time and meet up with January or February deadlines, depending on the school. Do you get? |

In life, we all need some form of mentorship and godfatherism. I wish these Bank CEOs, oil company CEOs too could take young graduates and push them into greatness. I pray we all meet our destiny helpers in due time. |

Horlanrewajuh: I'm sure there are threads that have discussed this in the past. Play around NL, you could find them. You can register for the GRE/GMAT via ets.org/mba.com respectively. Some, in Nigeria, register through all these local agencies to get books et al. Some people (like Indians ) prepare for a day, while some others prepare over year. It depends on your (quant/vocab) background - just write when you are ready. |
