Beermoney1: Ridiculous lies, if Biafra soldiers went about burning the villages, the question is why? Efik people were as much Biafran as Igbos, there were no recorded resistance in Efik land. So Miss Hogan Bassey, how much were you paid? It was based on your submission, "Efik people were as much Biafran as Igbo", that the Biafran soldiers called all the men of Creek Town for a town hall meeting: at the town hall meeting, the Biafran soldiers locked all the exits, and burnt down the hall, killing many fathers and sons. Today, the Efik population is very small. A people that gave Ibos farmlands and communities. You can still go to Creek Town and see space where the building once was. To what reason you may ask: if you have watched the movie, Tears of the Sun, by Bruce Willis, you would see that the Nigerian Army wanted to make their incursion into Ibo land through the waters of Cross River and Cameroun, and Creek Town was where the access point was, and the Efiks were killed, so that the route into Ibo lands will not be exposed. |

Christianity Etc › Re: Daniel's Rejection Of The King's Food And Wine by Acehart(op): 1:54pm On Mar 08 |
JediB: Interesting viewpoint. Permit me to add 2 'lil' cents: Did Daniel and the other three boys choose to be in Babylon? Was their being in Babylon a matter of choice (Japa) or forced ? The answer is No. They did not choose Babylon. Their kings and the people had forsaken The God of their fathers and after a long period of long-suffering their defilement of the land he gave them, he gave them up to Babylon as rightly foretold by prophets.
Daniel and the other three were not random, Dan 1:3 described them as "... certain of the children of Israel, and of the king's seed, and of the princes; 4 Children in whom was no blemish, but well favoured, and skilful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them to stand in the king's palace..."; their selection was also to the Babylonian purpose: "...whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans". This suggests to us that the four boys had potential, not only that, they were not the only Hebrew boys selected, there were other Hebrew boys; to have been selected amongst the many Hebrew boys captured and took into Babylon, they were lucky (Very rarely does a slave make it to the palace talk less of being offered king's meat) Now, this is where the Hebrew boys stood out: Knowledge: They knew Babylon was not God's will for them, that it was a result of disobedience. Now rather than say or assume, God's favor let them be chosen and begin to behave anyhow, they attributed the grace of the Babylonians to God and purposed in their heart to align with The Lord, regardless of the fact that they were in Babylon. They knew that a man is what he eats: once you start eating something, your objectivity, the ability to see it as it is, without sentiment, orbias is hampered. This knowledge also informed by scriptures, that "Covenant" men shall not 'live' by bread alone. They knew that their survival, success and spiritual significance to God in Babylon was dependent on what they ate. Thus, they purposed meaning "their use, functionality" in Babylon was to remain undefiled by Babylon thereby remaining sanctified To The Lord.
Consequently, The Lord proved His faithfulness, showing to them and all of us reading about them now, that His Presence, Hands and Faithfulness is everywhere, and in all situations to and for those committed to Him. That if we daily refuse Babylon and it's King's meat (note it is earthly wise very, very expensive) despite how hard it is to do so, He will reward us, mostly in unexpected ways. The evidence of this is seen not only in their ten times being better, but also their not being consumed by the fire, the lions mouths being sealed shut, surviving Babylon even after it's conquest etc
Today, Babylon and it's king's meat - anything outside God and His Word is everywhere. 9n the internet, in the modern church, schools, in business, at work, in Government, worldwide...some are obvious, others are subtle. Without The Holy Spirit, one is taken and when one has eaten it, laid claim(s) to it, even built a life in, on and about it, to refuse to bow down to the King's graven image (they are everywhere and in many forms) has led many to being thrown into fiery fires and den of lions where sadly, and against God's will, such were, sadly consumed. (May This never be our end deliberately in Jesus Christ's Name) What do you think about the bribe culture during NYSC postings, especially for thousands who want to be posted to Lagos or Abuja? |

femi4: In Daniel's era, they were under mosaic laws...it was forbidden. Don't quote me out of context Daniel slight disagrees with you: He was under two laws as he recounts in Daniel 9:11 - Indeed all Israel has transgressed Your law and turned aside, not obeying Your voice; so the curse has been poured out on us, along with the oath which is written in the law of Moses the servant of God, for we have sinned against Him.I think you have a misunderstanding: Daniel did not act by the Law of Moses. Up there you see Daniel showing us that Israel was under two laws: The Law of God, and The Law of Moses. Don't you know the Law of Moses doesn't touch the human conscience because of it was written by a man; it's nature is temporary, supplementary, ceremonial and time bound? It is the Law of God, Apostle Paul calls the "Spirit", he used in appealing to you conscience and mine. |

Christianity Etc › Daniel's Rejection Of The King's Food And Wine by Acehart(op): 7:16am On Mar 08 |
Could the vessels with which the wine and food were served have been the deterrent, as Daniel later recounts in Book of Daniel 5:1–4? It is possible that Daniel, either through a vision of future events or through knowledge of an existing practice in the king’s court, understood that the sacred vessels taken from the temple in Jerusalem were being used to serve food and drink. By using these holy vessels for ordinary feasting, they were profaned. Thus, by partaking in such a setting, one might symbolically defile oneself—sitting, as it were, “in the seat of the scornful,” and joining in the mockery of the God of Israel.
In First Epistle to the Corinthians 8:8–9, the Apostle writes: “But food does not bring us near to God; we are no worse if we do not eat, and no better if we do.”
Could it therefore be that, as the Apostle teaches in this passage, the issue is not the food itself? Rather, defilement and sin against Christ arise when one fails to consider the conscience of those with “little knowledge” within the household of Israel, and thus causes them to stumble.
(The one's with little knowledge were the captive little Hebrew children in the King's court)
- my response to my friend - 6.3.26 - He taught that Daniel's rejection of the King's provision had to do with the type of food, effect of the food on body, and overall effect on their faith.

creativejagaban: Try and be educated.
1. The gratuity is based on annual gross salary. So if your gross monthly salary is 150k, that means your annual will be 150k * 12 = 1.8 million. And so your gratuity will be 100% of that, which is: 1.8 million. So the gratuity is a reflection of your annual gross salary.
2. This gratuity is in addition to your contributory pension which is domicile with your pfc/pfa anyways.

emoney2012: I’m not a Winner member, but I believe there’s usually a proper protocol for requesting financial help in churches. In a structured church like Living Faith Church, I’m sure assistance should start from the home cell or unit you belong to before escalating upward. Walking up directly to David Oyedepo may not be the standard process. Those who approached Christ, ignoring protocol, did they receive what they asked for? I remember the Syro-Phonecian; I remember the widow at Nain; I remember the demons' request; I remember his mother's request for a miracle when it was not yet time- He who has given to the least, has given to the Almighty. In a 4-3-3 formation Rasheed Yekini will not fit in. Though arrogant Osirmhen is Nigerias best. Below is is my selection:
Peter Rufai- Joseph Yobo Taribo West Uche Okechukwu Celestine Babayaro John Obi Mikel Sunday Oliseh Austin Okocha Finidi George Victor Osimhen Kanu Nwakwo
