Dtruthspeaker:Tell me about your understanding. Why did He refrain? |
Kobojunkie:Okay |
Kobojunkie:What is the composition of clay if I may ask? |
[quote author=Dtruthspeaker post=105419998] Yep! That's why we are registered with many repair shops and have the contacts of many repair men.You took your loved one to a repair man instead of The Repair man. Maybe, maybe not! But the value or invalue to you, is that You know He could repair you but He has chosen, not to.Why was your loved one not repaired? |
Kobojunkie:Sand castles/sculptures are held by the moisture content of the sand. You forget that the whole earth was covered by a mist; this says that one couldn’t find 100% dry sand or dust. |
Dtruthspeaker:1. Have you had a loved one that you took to the Repairer and he or she wasn’t repaired? 2. If the Repairer elects not to repair, then the workshop soon becomes a scrapyard. |
BassReeves:Why doesn’t God repair every man especially does who are “taken” to Him? |
BassReeves:Is it possible for all creators to repair a faulty creature? |
Mbataku96:Yes. Contextually, He is saying He is the legitimate Son of God. In a wider sense, as you said, He is making a claim to be Man's creator- The scriptures say He was making a pot from clay. But there was something wrong with the pot. So the potter used that clay to make another pot. With his hands, he shaped the pot the way he wanted it to be. (Jere. 18:4). |
After Jesus said this, he spits on the dirt, made some mud, and puts it on the man’s eyes. Jesus told him, “Go and wash in Siloam Pool.” (Siloam means “Sent.”) So the man went to the pool, washed, and came back. He was now able to see. (John 9:6-7, ERV) He answered, “The man they call Jesus made some mud and put it on my eyes. Then he told me to go to Siloam and wash. So I went there and washed. And then I could see.” (John 9:11) There are two instances in which the gospels tell of Jesus using spit in the eyes of a blind man whom he healed: Mark 8:23-25: "When they arrived at Bethsaida, they brought to him a blind man and begged him to touch him. He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village. Putting spittle on his eyes he laid his hands on him and asked, "Do you see anything?" Looking up he replied, "I see people looking like trees and walking." Then he laid hands on his eyes a second time and he saw clearly; his sight was restored and he could see everything distinctly. In this instance, Jesus was only partly successful at his first attempt but succeeded on the second. John 9:6-7: After Jesus said this, he spits on the dirt, made some mud, and puts it on the man’s eyes. Jesus told him, “Go and wash in Siloam Pool.” (Siloam means “Sent.”) So the man went to the pool, washed, and came back. He was now able to see.Saliva was widely reported to have medicinal properties in the ancient world. For example, Celsus and Galen mention its healing properties and Pliny collected together many instances of its use in the treatment of boils, pains, sores, snake bites, epilepsy, and eye disease. Plinio Prioreschi reports in A History of Medicine: Roman medicine, page 728, that the god told Vespasian to spit in the eyes of a blind man, who would thereby be cured. The Jews of the second temple period knew of a tradition that the saliva of a legitimate, first-born heir would have healing properties against injury or disease. When we look back just a few verses in the context of John 9:6-7, at John 8:8, we read of Jesus proclaiming to be the son of God: "I testify on my behalf and so does the Father who sent me." So they said to him, "Where is your father?" Jesus answered, "You know neither me nor my Father. If you knew me, you would know my Father also."Then in 8:25-29 (with further references by Jesus to God as his father, throughout the remainder of chapter :So they said to him, "Who are you?" Jesus said to them, "What I told you from the beginning. I have much to say about you in condemnation. But the one who sent me is true, and what I heard from him I tell the world." They did not realize that he was speaking to them of the Father. So Jesus said (to them), "When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will realize that I AM and that I do nothing on my own, but I say only what the Father taught me. The one who sent me is with me. He has not left me alone, because I always do what is pleasing to him."Having told the Pharisees that He was the legitimate son of God, all that remained was for him to demonstrate this by performing something that first-century Jews expected a legitimate, first-born heir to do. So, then in verse 9:1: "As he passed by he saw a man blind from birth." Thus, the significance of Jesus using spit, in the context of John chapters 8 and 9, is the affirmation that He is the only begotten Son of God. Dick Harfield (2015) |
Acehart:The Spirit says clearly that some people will abandon the faith in later times; they will obey lying spirits and follow the teachings of demons |
And He is coming back again |
No one can deny how great is the secret of our godliness: God appeared in human form, was shown to be right by the Spirit, and was seen by angels. He was preached among the nations, was believed in throughout the world, and was taken up to heaven. |
Fluency:Thank you for your kind words. I am pleased with your consideration to remain with the body of Christ through my words. I’m not a disciple of Mr Joshua. I’ve not heard any of his sermons. I usually prefer to drench myself in reading the scriptures for myself and understanding the background of the texts (through the study of historical information) and understanding of English grammar so that it would help my reasoning. |
You shouldn’t stop going to church. It is God’s will that you should be part of the church. Regarding those verses, 1 Corinthians 14:34-35, let’s look at the context of those verses so that we may not be led astray by little understanding. The letter, 1 Corinthians was written as a rebuke to that church: they were steep in a lot of unscriptural practices; this made Paul to write this great expression- I desire to know nothing among you, except Christ and Him crucified, as the church was in spiritual chaos: (righteous) leadership was missing in the church, godly behavior was hard to find and the church was only interested in gifts of Christ rather than Christ. The chapter addressed the chaos of the tongues-speaking gift and prophetic gift. The three verses just before the first two words of the verses you highlighted says: For you can all prophesy one by one, so that all may learn and all may be exhorted; and the spirits of prophets are subject to prophets; for God is not a God of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints. The women are to keep silent in the churches. The chief words in these verses are prophesy and prophets. These verses mean that the prophet-elders (in their midst) should take authority in the church, regulating the display of gifts. But the women should hold their peace. You should ask: which women? In chapter 11, Paul rebukes the church for letting certain women become the symbol of authority in the church. They were the women with “uncovered” hair (The brothel art in Pompeii, Italy, depicts prostitutes with full heads of hair, never shaved. Other erotic art from Pompeii shows sexually promiscuous women with their hair done up as the matrons wore it. “Letting down their hair,” was a practice probably associated with spiritual freedom in Dionysus worship). In the worship of Aphrodites in Corinth, women were the symbols of authority in the temple worship (like Jezebel, Ahab’s wife) and the adoption of such practice in the church was contrary to God’s ‘word first sent forth’, the law (v.36)- God is not the author of confusion; He will not marry Christ with a prostitute. In the latter part of the chapter you quoted, Paul writes: if anyone thinks he is a prophet. This was Paul’s shotgun aimed at those women, the ones who were heading the church. Revelation 2:20 But I have this against you, that you tolerate the woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, and she teaches and leads My bond-servants astray so that they commit acts of immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols. I hope I didn’t bore you with my answer |
Nice writeup. Only those abreast with happenings or rather not abreast with the issues in Afghanistan may agree or disagree with you. A study carried out by Christianity today showed that only about 30% of Christians (around the world) know what the gospel is. If this is so, then Christians can not propagate an ideology they don’t know. If this is the case, whatever opportunity is presented to a Christian either by will or fortune, they will always leave a vacuum for other ideologies to fill. |

Isaiah 52:13 Behold, My servant will prosper, He will be high and lifted up and greatly exalted. Here properly a new chapter should begin, these three last verses treating of the same person and subject as the following chapter; even of Christ, his person, offices, humiliation, and exaltation, and the effects and fruits thereof; for of him undoubtedly the whole is to be understood. The Jews say it is a difficult prophecy; and so it is to them, being contrary to their notions and schemes, or otherwise it is plain and easy, respecting the Messiah; but rather than he should be thought to be meant, the modern ones have invented a variety of interpretations. Some apply this prophecy to Abraham; others to Moses; others to Ezra; others to Zerubbabel; and others to any righteous person: the more principal and prevailing opinions among them are, that it is to be understood either of the whole body of the people of Israel in captivity, as Jarchi, Aben Ezra, and Kimchi; or of King Josiah, slain by Pharaohnecho, as Abarbinel; or of Jeremiah, as Saadiah Gaon; all which are weak and impertinent, and, as they disagree with each other, show the perplexity they are under. The Targum interprets it of the Messiah; and so did the ancient Rabbins, as Aben Ezra and Alshech confess; and several parts of the prophecy are applied to him, both by ancient and modern ones, as will be seen in the exposition of it. Christ, as man and Mediator, is the servant of God, of his choosing and calling, sending, bringing forth, and supporting; see ( Isaiah 42:1 ) , from whom he had both his work and his wages: the principal part of his service lay in working out the redemption and salvation of his people, in which he willingly and cheerfully engaged, and which he diligently and faithfully performed; in which he showed a regard to his Father's will, love to his people, and great condescension, as well as wisdom; for, as it is here promised he would, so he did deal "prudently": as in his infancy, when he disputed with the doctors in the temple, so throughout the whole of his public life, in preaching the Gospel, in answering the questions of his enemies, and in his behaviour at his apprehension, arraignment, condemnation, and crucifixion: or "he shall cause to understand"; make others wise and prudent; he caused them to understand his Father's mind and will, the Scriptures, and the Gospel in them; he made men wise unto salvation, and instructed in those things which belong to their peace; and he still does by his spirit, through the ministry of the word: or "he shall prosper"; the pleasure of the Lord prospered in his hands; he rode forth prosperously, destroying his and our enemies was very successful in working out salvation, as he is in his advocacy and intercession for his people, and in the ministration of his Gospel; and is the author of all prosperity in his churches, and to particular believers. The Targum is, ``behold, my servant the Messiah shall prosper;'' and so another Jewish writer says, that the section which begins with these words is concerning the Messiah: he shall be exalted and extolled, and be very high; as he has been exalted by his Father, by raising him from the dead, and giving him glory; by placing him at his own right hand, and giving him all power in heaven and in earth; by committing all judgment into his hands, that all men may honour him as they do the Father: and he is "extolled" by his people, in his person and offices, by giving him the glory of their salvation, in their hearts, thoughts, and affections, with their mouths and lips; and so he is in his house and ordinances, by his ministers and churches: and is made "very high"; higher than the kings of the earth; higher than the angels of heaven; higher than the heavens themselves. The Jews say of the Messiah, in reference to these words, that he is exalted above Abraham, extolled above Moses, and made higher than the ministering angels; and in another ancient book of theirs it is said, the kingdom of Israel shall be exalted in the days of the Messiah, as it is written, he shall be exalted and extolled. Can you define what a sin is? |
Princewell2012:The guy who said keep all three didn’t only answer you from the point of the God’s Law but answered you logically, and it made logical sense to you and you had peace after you read it; why listen to someone who answered you by shooting bullets without hitting the target and you declared him logical and right. Do you know the meaning of “Go and sin no more”? It means everything you have done before the point of atonement is not accounted against you; only those done thereafter will. So, marrying three wives is not regarded as sin before the Lord but what you do (covenant breaking) against those women will be against you. Israel experienced three years of drought because of covenant breaking, and God stood on the side of those who were defrauded (I am taking about the case of the Gibeonites against Israel). Any effort to forcefully send those women away will not the cause the will of God - righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost, to be done. Just walk with God and He will make a way, Have a nice weekend |
1. Use the right trainers. This point can never be over emphasized. No matter how expensive a pair of trainers is, just buy it. I’m 100% sure that your injuries are due to your shoes. A good pair of running is essential too. You can get good second running socks in the market for close to 2000 naira. 2. Don’t start with jogging. Walking helps your body get into the rhythm. Try walking for close to two weeks, varying your distance, and see how it goes. 3. Start early: The strength of your mind is strongest when you wake up early. Try to jog before 5 a.m. |
jesusjnr2020:I have carefully read your initial writeup on this thread and observed your responses; one thing stands out: You clearly avoided the Pauline epistles; it’s is either you are a young Christian and you haven’t gone through the entire scriptures (perhaps you have just started reading the New Testament) and you haven’t got proper understanding of it yet or you are part of the School of Thought that jettison the Pauline epistles, saying they are not inspired writings and shouldn’t find their way to the scriptures. If your case is the former, I’d like to help you have good understanding in the next paragraphs. Psalms 35:24 says, “Judge me, O Lord my God, according to Your righteousness” To get the true meaning of this verse, we would have to test it against scripture, and also get what the context suggests. It may read as: 1. O Lord my God, judge between my character and that of my enemies according to Your equity and justice. (Lesser context based approach) 2. Justify me, O Lord my God, with your righteousness. (Etymological approach with a view of eschatology) Lets look at the first point: David, the writer of this Psalm, was calling Jehovah to come into judgment between him and his enemies. If Jehovah vindicates David because he claims to have an impeccable character and that of his enemies vile, then the scriptures contradicts itself because Psalms 143:2 says: And enter not into judgment with thy servant: for in thy sight shall no man living be justified. So if the Lord God is to judge David and his enemies based on character, none of them will be vindicated. Hence, point one is disqualified because of contradiction. Before we examine the second point, let’s start by looking at Deuteronomy 9:5: “It is not for your righteousness or for the uprightness of your heart that you are going to possess their land, but it is because of the wickedness of these nations that the Lord your God is driving them out before you, in order to confirm the oath which the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.” Here, the Lord God reiterates to Israel that their justification (to inherit the promised land) was not due to their adherence to His commandments but for His oath, a prerogative kindled by the faith of their fathers, a faith (authored and finished by God) that was accounted to them as righteousness. If Judge me, O Lord my God, according to thy righteousness, reads as point two, then it means that the righteousness of the Lord God, by which he justifies his people (the Israel of God, Christians), is according to faith in what Christ has wrought out, and is imputed to them. The substitutionary work of Christ on Calvary wherewith He was judged was according to the sins that were imputed to Him (though He was not a seed of any man) - Isaiah 53:4. We know that in the atoning substitution, the sin of the people was exchanged for righteousness of the God (Psa.132:9, Lev.14). Yes! those who were justified, the scriptures then calls them his descendants: But the Lord was pleased To crush Him, putting Him to grief; If He would render Himself as a guilt offering, He will see His offspring, He will prolong His days, And the good pleasure of the Lord will prosper in His hand. - Isaiah 53:10 P.S.: Please study the scriptures properly so that you would not be guilty of preaching another gospel and you be condemned. |
