The construction industry represents 10% of Nigeria's GDP and is a massive source of employment. Nigerians pay the highest cement prices anywhere on earth, and the blame falls on one man: Alhaji Aliko Dangote.

Dangote Cement is a criminal monopoly that must be broken up to save Nigeria from economic collapse. According to his 2019 financial report, Dangote enjoys a 59% EBITDA margin on cement sales in Nigeria, compared to 17% elsewhere in Africa. That means, for every $100 in cement he sells he is making roughly $60 in profit. These extreme cement prices are leading to higher costs of housing, joblessness, inflation, and poverty.

One man is impoverishing a country of 200 million people, and nothing is being done to stop him. We should be protesting. Dangote is worse than SARS. Mynd44, put this on the front page.

If you are not familiar with the term, EBITDA refers to cash profits before tax. So, for every $100 in cement Dangote sells he makes $60 in EBITDA profit. I have never seen a worse example of state capture anywhere on earth -- or a population of baboons so eager to defend an open financial crime against their best interests.

It was weekly. $600 times 4 is equal to $2400 in bonus unemployment per month. That's more than enough money for someone who isn't even working. Also, the core unemployment pays you a portion of your missing wages so some people were getting up to $3800 to $4,000 monthly to sit at home and do nothing. If you couldn't manage with that, the problem is you.
