Religion / Another Trouble Brews At Christ Embassy, Abuja High Courts At Alert by adahib: 10:00pm On Nov 23, 2014
There is an ongoing ‘war’ between U-cheena, Producer of Destiny Child Gospel Music Talent Hunt and Chris Oyakhilome’s led Christ Embassy Church as the former is pressing charges against some bloodthirsty Pastors as well as staff and security of the Church for assaulting her and one of her staff, Mr Daniel.

The former had also briefed her team of lawyers who are currently preparing to sue the Ministry in an epoch making case in the history of Christianity in Nigeria, thus demanding a whooping sum of N1bn compensation from Christ Embassy for assault, battery and breach of contract.

Recall that the church has been triggering social media tsunami following the recent marital clash between the founder, Chris Oyakhilome and his wife, Anita, which led to the ministry pulling off anything connected with Pastor Anita on both the Ministry's website, along multiple assault of journalists and vulnerable individuals complimented with the ordination of ill-mannered pastors.

It was gathered that problem ensued after U-cheena rented out her LED screens to the church for the ongoing IPPC program in Lagos.

The event, which was said to be characterised by funfair and glamour could not end without a major catastrophe occasioned by the Church's refusal to keep to its end of the bargain.

Findings revealed that U-cheena’s Company "Eventz.comLimited" rented out its LED screens at a 90 percent discount to the church for a barter arrangement and the Church to bare logistics cost.

In return, the Church was to give her NGO the Love World Studio for one day for the live shoot of Destiny Child Gospel Music Talent Hunt Season 3 to host the grand finale of the Talent Hunt.

Little did U-cheena know that her magnanimity to forego millions of naira in return for the Love World Studio which ordinarily cost's One Million Naira, (N1,000,000.00) will turn into a thing of reproach, embarrassment and agonizing pain for her.

In a clear case of paying good back with evil, U-cheena got more than she bargained for as she was beaten blue back by some top pastors of Christ Embassy Church ordained by Chris Oyakhilome during a squabble that ensued for daring to ask for her full payment before leaving Christ Embassy with her equipment.

Speaking to journalists on Saturday afternoon at the Alausa Police Station, a visibly battered U-Cheena said she was still in shock that people who claim to be men of God could be so heartless by assaulting a married woman.

Explaining how it all started, U-cheena said, “We gave out LED screen to the church for IPPC programme at a 90 percent discount. However, just two days into the programme; I receiveda call from one of my staff Daniel who informed me that one of my LED screens got blown from a power surge.

When I heard it, I took the next available flight from Abuja to Lagos on Thursday 20th November 2014 to arrange another screen to ensure that we kept to our side of the bargain. Little did I know that my generosity would turn out to be my biggest undoing."

According to her, “Upon arranging for another LED screen for the Church, I informed those in charge that I must get a full payment of the agreed sum for logistics before I can power the screen for the programme. They appealed to me to power it as payment will not be a problem.

“When their insistence that I power the screen did not yield any results, they called the Zonal Pastor of my Church “Christ Embassy Abuja”, Pastor Chidi to prevail on me to go ahead and power the screen. They went to the extent of involving my Mum Pastor Duchess who is also a Pastor with the Church to prevail on me.

“At this point, I conceded and powered the screen and was there to ensure that everything went well until after the programme which ended at about 5pm.

“I was in shock when Pastor Dave approached me and my staff and said ‘we are only going to pay you for one day. Go and teardown your screen immediately and give me your invoice.’ I saidto him ‘but that is not fair.’

“He got enraged at this point, ordered me out of the Church premises and walked towards his office. I told him I was not leaving until I got my full payment and followed him towards his office as well. He banged the door of his office right behind me. When I attempted to open the door to enter his office, one of the Pastors who was listening to our conversation; Pastor Ayo pushed me from the door and I fell thunderously to the ground.

“My staff Daniel confronted the Pastor and asked him why he should push me that way requesting to know if he wanted to kill me. At this point Pastor Dave ordered his colleague Pastor Ayo and the security men to throw us out of the Church premises.

“The Pastor pounced on Daniel aided by some other pastors and members of the Church staff who came out in droves to beat him up. I received my pound of beating when I attempted to rescue Daniel whom six ordained pastors of Christ Embassy, Churchstaff and security held down and threatened to murder him. At this point, two security men were in possession of firearms while one of the pastors continually poured a white substance suspected to be a tranquilizer on his face to subdue him. This they did with all enthusiasm and recklessness.”

Speaking further, the battered woman averred that, while screaming for help in the middle of an estimated 20-man mob squad of Pastor Chris Oyakhilome’s church, a female member was also beating her repeatedly.

Hear her, “My production manager, Ms Ayo and an Abuja Church member, Sister Nonye who recognised me, helped to rescue me from the Christ Embassy monster squad. In an attempt to record the incident, one of them grabbed my phone and smashed it to the ground beyond repair.
“I headed for the Alausa Police station where I made a formal complaint," said U-cheena amid sobs and tears.

At the Alausa Police Station, she was subsequently given a letter to go to the hospital where she was treated.

U-cheena added that the CSO to Pastor Chris Oyakhilome,Deacon Ik came with the ill-mannered Pastor Dave to give his statement along with one of Pastor Oyakhilome monster’s squad, Pastor Ayo who assaulted her and her staff. They were eventually detained alongside some of the pastors involved in the head-shaking assault.

U-cheena, who until the unfortunate incident was a fulltime member of Christ Embassy vowed to press charges until she gets justice as well as pursue the civil aspect of the matter before a Court of competent jurisdiction. Already, she said she hadbriefed her lawyers to commence the process of instituting legal action against Christ Embassy and the gay-Like pastor Dave.

Speaking to our reporter on phone, Counsel to U-cheena, described the actions of the Church against his clients as an act of barbarism, cowardice, inhumane and dehumanization of his client fundamental human rights. He noted that U-cheena is a devoted Christian, a married woman and the MD of Eventz.com Limited. He said he was shocked when he received a call from his client saying she was physically assaulted by Christ Embassy Pastors. He added that already the Commissioner of Police ofLagos State has been informed and a thorough investigation is currently ongoing to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Adding that his chambers was already preparing to file a civil suit against the Church for assault and battery and breach of Contract. “We have taken the right step. The church is being sued for N1bn damages,” the counsel said.

Efforts to reach the Lagos State Commissioner of Police to find out the position of the investigation and the church for comment could not yield any result as their phones could not be reached as at the time of this report.

The incident makes one wonder with one hand akimbo and head bowed if truly Christ Embassy is a church or a breeding ground for monsters in guise of pastors whom Pastor Oyakhilome ordained to continuously defraud poor low intelligent members of the society.

Could it also be true that Pastor Anita’s claim that ChristEmbassy is indeed a five star brothel, considering the ordination of ill-mannered pastors like Pastor Dave? This and more questions are begging for answers.

We keep you posted as events unfold.

Health / "Text Neck"- From Excessive Use Of Smartphones by adahib: 12:15pm On Nov 21, 2014
A huge part of our day goes into surfing the web, replying to tweets, taking selfies or texting on our smartphone. Now, a new research paper reveals that slumping to read a text or study a selfie can put undue pressure on the neck.

According to the research, the weight on the cervical spine (part of the spine above the shoulders) bent at a 15-degree angle is about 27 pounds( 12.2kg), at 30 degrees it’s 40 pounds( 18kg), and at 45 degrees it’s 49 pounds(22.05kg). Furthermore, when you bend your head at a 60 degree angle to look at a phone screen, it puts 60 pounds – or 27kg – worth of pressure on the cervical spine.

The paper says that at more than four stone in weight, that is heavier than the average seven year old and if prolonged heavy use of smartphone continues, the extra pressure put on the neck will lead to early wear and tear and the person may eventually need surgery.

Led by Dr Kenneth Hansraj, chief of spine surgery at New York Spine Surgery and Rehabilitation Medicine, researchers found that the cervical spine could also lose its ‘natural curve due to the increased stress on the neck, and are calling this condition “Text Neck.”

“While it is nearly impossible to avoid the technologies that cause these issues, individuals should make an effort to look at their phones with a neutral spine and to avoid spending hours each day hunched over,” the paper concludes.

The researchers put stress on the benefits of good posture and recommend smartphone addicts to keep it down a notch, and practice upright postures at work. They also suggest eating fish at least once a week and to smile often for positive ‘facial posture’.

Funny country,Nigeria.... It's okay that this has finally been approved. I hope there will be peace now. What people fail to understand is that there will be massive confusion in the hospitals. We live in a country where everyone remotely related to the hospital is called a doctor without them making any attempt to correct such individuals. I can bet an arm and a leg that these consultant cleaners, nurses, lab scientists etc will never correct the confused patients. They will play on the ignorance of patients to claim doctors. It's all good though, that's what we want.

But wait oo,I hope the members of juhesu are willing to go through the process of becoming a consultant and not pushing the argument of "i've worked for 20years and so I should be a consultant". Even a doctor who has worked for 20years can't be a consultant without going through the process.

Our government sef. They just sign and approve things without doing proper research. I'm sure that the members of juhesu agitating for consultant status will not be kind enough to inform us that even though there are consultant nurses, they are not in hospitals but mostly used in legal cases and even though there are consultant pharmacists, they are only seen in aged people homes or private practice and not in government hospitals. But in Nigeria, they want to be in the clinics and compete with the doctors. I hope this cures their inferiority complex. It's okay sha,as far as everyone is happy...

Education / Re: Unical Medical Centre; A Centre Without The Medical by adahib: 8:43am On Nov 13, 2014
It's truly pathetic what you've written here. I wonder how the students cope. From what you wrote,it seems the entire fault rests with the school authority. If I may ask, what has the SUG done about it? Is the Dean of students affairs aware? If it's true what the director said about not receiving money to procure drugs for over 6months,then I think the SUG together with the Dean of students affairs should take the matter up with the school authority being that the students have paid their fees which included the medical fees and as such are entitled to proper medical care.

OP you can also take it upon yourself to draw the attention of the school authority to what's going on.

Politics / Re: FG To Legalize Arms Possessions For Nigerians by adahib: 7:47am On Nov 13, 2014
Hahaha...very fun but I may agree with you to some extent. Yes Nigerians will be better protected, perhaps the harassment by the police may decline somewhat but have bothered to look at the flip side? Given the degree of lawlessness in this country,if such is done, there will be mayhem on the streets. Every argument, disagreement and such will be settled with a few shots.

There is no such policy yet and there are guns everywhere, what do you think will happen if bearing of firearms becomes legalized? Hehehe

You say an agency should be set up to monitor every every Abi? Okay na. Abeg which monitoring agency don ever dey effective for this country?. You'll only be giving such an agency power to sell firearms to the highest bidder.

So my good sir, such a policy may be okay in the distant future but certainly not now....

Obviously you've never laid hands on the HTC m8. Believe me,the BoomSound is amazing. You can watch a movie in packed football stadium and still hear your movie clearly.

@OP, the primary camera is not the best but it's better than you portrayed it. Yes it's only 4mp but remember,it makes use of ultrapixel. Have you ever tried taking a picture in a low light situation, say in the evening? That's when you will appreciate the ultrapixels. You also played down the duo effect. Let me give you a suggestion, take a horizontal panaroma picture and then apply the duo effect. Tell me what you see. The longer you spend with the camera, the more you'll come to appreciate it.

All in all,the HTC m8 is the best phone I've owned, and I've owned a fair number of good phones. The phone is simply amazing.

Politics / Re: Civil Servants Threaten Strike Over Proposed Wage Deregulation by adahib: 1:08am On Oct 23, 2014
APContherun:

You guys are so funny. Wage deregulation doesn't necessarily entail salary reduction but a removal of wages and salaries matter from the exclusive list to the concurrent list so that both the FG and state givts determine and decide what they pay their workers. This is against the present practice where wages and salaries ofboth FG, state and LGs workers are fixed by the National Salaries and Wages Commision an agency of the FG. If the move succeds state govts will have their own agencies that will be responsible for fixing workers salaries.
State govts will now fix salaries depending on the economy of the state involved.
Labour knows this move will drastically reduce the powers of the labour unions and that's why they fight.

Yes it will reduce the powers of the labour unions because they will lack a common front to pressurize the government into making any upward review of the minimum wage, but look at if from the angle of the workers.

If salaries are moved to the concurrent list, the F.G will only fix and be responsible for the pay of federal workers while each state will fix it's own according to it's strength, hence the term "deregulation". So there will be nothing like "the national minimum wage" anymore.

Now,the allocation of each state differs. In the same vain, state A may fix it's minimum wage at 18k while state B will say "because of our meager allocations,we can only afford to pay 10k as minimum wage". At that point, the F.G can't lean on them to pay more than they claim they can afford.

We already know how many states are groaning under the weight of huge wage bills but right now, they have no choice but to pay. Once the new arrangement is effected, most states will jump up in happiness and push down the minimum wage as much as they like because frankly, none of them will raise it willingly.

So do you now see the angle from which the labour union is coming from Hehehe......

Why on earth would somebody get stuck between s4 and m8? That's a huge insult on m8. The fight should be between s5 and m8. When I was in a similar situation,my confusion was even between z2 and m8. S5 didn't even figure in the equation let alone s4. I finally settled for m8.

I'll advise you to go for the m8. If you must consider sumsung, then it should be the s5.

Kirinwa: Anyone who works in a bank is a banker although in Nigerian parlance a banker is one who handles cash in a bank.

Does that include the gate men, cleaners and the likes?
Business / Who Is A Banker? by adahib: 9:47am On Sep 23, 2014
I've been forced to ask this question given the claims I've come across by different individuals who work within the vicinity of a bank. Not too long ago,I met a young lady who claimed to be a banker. A few weeks later,I went to access bank to renew my expired debit card and behold,I saw the young woman being sent to go make a copy of a customer's cheque.

In like manner,a female friend of mine got asked out by a guy driving a nice corola who claimed to be a banker. Only for the lady to realize a few days later that the guy was merely driving the branch manager.

Given the above instances,I now ask,who is a banker? Is it the manager, the guy paying out cash over the counter, the guy in the bulk room, the security, the messenger, the ATM attendant, etc?
