marvinsync: just cause it's their culture doesn't necessarily make if compulsory ,she can decide not to go with it, she can decide not to marry
they are checking her virginity to confirm if shes a virgin like she says ,how else will the suitor know if she is or not, u want him to be ripped off?
u can decide to make it a big deal or not
but it's really not ,u can see it as routine check, like when spouses go for medical tests before marriage to see if there is an abnormality or not So her marriage is hinged on her virginity She has to give up marriage because of that What do you even mean by the man being ripped off That should only make sense if the man is also a virgin. Women enjoy sex as much as men so why should she be restricted when the man is not and yet the man is the one who is ripped off? Culture is not cast in stone, culture changes and if a cultural practise suppresses a group of pple, it should be changed. Every adult should be entitled to sexual freedom. |
Health › Re: UN Describes ‘virginity Testing’ As Human Rights Violation by adami: 11:57am On Oct 18, 2018 |
marvinsync: there is no problem with checking virginity as long as it's not compulsory ( as In they are not forced to ) , it's not painful (they ensure their patients don't experience harm) and long as the test is accurate .
I hate when the UN or ( calling it as it is) the west , try to change people beliefs and systems to match theirs because they feel that they are the only ones that are correct
I'm some cultures women should be virgins before marriage, and they create systems to confirm the virginity , it's their culture ! the UN should mind their fvcking business ! Contradicting yourself here @ bolded, if it's their culture then that makes it compulsory for them. There's everything wrong with checking a woman's virginity, its her private part, it's her private business, nobody should be snooping around there. |

But for refusal to comply with a directive from Finance Ministry, it is assumed that the CBN is an independent body. INCOHERENCE is another name for this. Yes CBN should reduce interest rate benchmark,14% is too high and Emefiele is right, govt should lower taxation rate as well especially for the low and middle income earners. If an economy is going through recession, basic economics says that interest rates and taxation should be reduced and govt. spending should increase to stimulate flow of funds into that economy. |

salabscholar01: i am as objective here. Look, the government is walking on broken paths and we know it. I knew it will not be easy for PMB from the day he emerged the winner. People were busy saying Gej was an hero to can accepted the defeat. But not true. He simply accepted because he wanted a relief and has seen what the future will unfolds too. Now we are here. Everyone what a change overnight... [s]The youths are just crying and want the live the same styles of life when the oil been the major export commodity was booming[/s]. The country is pinching us now. They never want to understand that the country was ruled and things are within that must be fixed to give us that change we want. Well, i am typing this retiring to bed already and the PDP party is the reason we are where we are today. So our part is to change what we can and move on It annoys me so much when I hear pple say we are in recession because of oil. Oil was not and is still not up to 25% of our GDP. Our economy is in a mess now because of terrible economic policies by this government, we don't attract investors anymore and the ones that used to be here before have all left,we have lost almost 50% of our FDI, the govt policies is not creating condusive environment for them, when Buhari was touring the world instead of putting his cabinet together we were saying he was attracting investors, Ok where are the investors now, he left the country on auto-pilot for 6 good months, who does that Someone that spent 12 years wanting to be President eventually gets that chance and has no clue whatsoever on what to do, doing trial and error with the economy...you should read Emir Sanusi's speech,I think everyone should so we can stop giving this rubbish oil price has fallen excuse for this government and hold them accountable for their incompetence, at least Sanusi for all intents and purposes is not a wailer. http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/209699-nigerian-govt-caused-economic-recession-emir-sanusi.html |

craziebone: my dear, when people go from Nigeria to other countries for the first time, they always want to say something like that. But do you honestly think just few hours into living in another country, your mother knows enough about Kenya to begin to compare the two countries? Some people will leave Lagos for Minna and they will praise how organised Minna is to Lagos and also how more often they have power than Lagos, but to claim that Minna is now better than Lagos is absolute buuuullshit!!!!
Infrastructure is infrastructure it doesn't matter if it is provided by the government or not. Most Nigerians provide their own water when they build their houses, can you now say that's backwardness?
Again. If Kenya produces about 2k mw of electricity and they have "constant supply" in Nairobi and else where, then it is because they are giving way too much to their major cities than they are giving to the other parts.
In Nigeria, while Lagos recieves the highest amount of power generated, it doesn't have light as frequently as say Okene in Kogi state even though Kogi lets very little supply than Lagos.
So get it and just stop it already! I know what the problem is: its is frustration and nothing more! My Mum stayed for one whole month and not a few days and all that time, there was power cut just once and it didn't last for more than 2hrs, but that's besides the point, forget about my mum, talking about myself, I have lived in Kenya for 8 months now and still counting and mind you I am an agricultural researcher so I don't just stay in Nairobi and I know much more about Nigeria's agricultural sector than you would ever know. I have been to rural Kenya and I have been to rural Nigeria and interacted with farmers and community leaders from both countries so I have very informed opinion and not heresay. The roads in their rural areas are better than ours, most of their rural areas are more connected to electricity than ours, they have this system in most rural areas where they pay about 20ksh per/day for electricity that way it is more affordable and better distributed, their government gives student loans for studies which they start repaying 3 years after graduation, life expectancy for both male and female is higher in Kenya than Nigeria, health care system (and I mean government not private hospitals) is better, infant mortality is about 50% lower than Nigeria. I'm a Nigerian so there really is no need to hype another country at the expense of mine but the truth must be said so that we know where we stand and can make appropriate plans for the future. I know it is a very long read but you should go through Emir Sanusi's speech, he made a lot of comparisons between Nigeria and many African countries Kenya included and you would see that Nigeria needs to buckle up cos we are lagging behind other African nations. http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/209699-nigerian-govt-caused-economic-recession-emir-sanusi.htmlAlso my dear, I can't be frustrated cos I have a good life, I am just an honest genuinely worried Nigerian hoping we get things done the right way but from your aggressiveness I see you have a lot of frustration bottled up inside you from the economic recession in Nigeria, come to Kenya and relax you would feel better I promise |

Even their airport - is far better by far, than the one we have in Naija, far cleaner and more efficiently run. Don't forget, their own national airline Kenya Airways is still flying. Wey our own?
You have obviously never lived in Kenya before, otherwise you would realise how silly you sound. In fact, if people like you get the opportunity to live in Nairobi for one week, you will refuse to come back to Nigeria. Don't use Google as your Bible. Go there physically and verify!
Stop deluding yourself. Go and live in other African countries like Namibia, Botswana, Mauritius, Kenya and South Africa and you will realise that Nigeria is not the greatest black nation, just the nation with the largest population and the biggest mouth!
Well said! Na true word you talk. Collect one chilled bottle from Mama Nkechi's shop down there...all the drinks are on me! my dear don't mind this deluded Nigerians that have never gone outside their village, I have lived in Zambia and currently live in Nairobi from my experience in these 2 countries I can NEVER call Nigeria giant of Africa again, EVER, infact i've had some of my friends come over to visit from Nigeria and they can't beleive what they see, they are amazed, my mum was testifying to the goodness of Kenya when she came visiting, she couldn't believethey had constant power and no noise making generator anywhere....other African countries have overtaken us seriously, we are still living in past glory. |

Haha Nigerians still earn high respect abroad with the economy situation. We are on top of the game.
