Actually not begging him, but words could change him before he does something crazy.

Seriously. Most critical duties are taken off him. Imagine Boss Mustapha trending more than the VP in the presidency/Country.

I just put a call to my Aboki, he said rate yesterday was 450 but they expect to get $ from CBN by next week or 2 weeks later so the rate will drop in few weeks to come, he advised anybody buying $ now should pause except if really necessary. Hope this thing goes down soon.
Where will CBN get the dollars from? We aren't earning from export recently and if they have to tamper on reserve or elsewhere to supply the fx market, it will further crumble the financial sector as exposed to international settlement.

They should just allow the naria 'a free flow' to find her bearing, then we can know its exact value in international market rather than 'packaging' it to save shame.

From there the apex bank and other related MDAs will buck up and face the reality.

Corona virus, just like Malaria has come to stay, the earlier we start learning to live with it, the better.
Have been studying it, each time the results it released, Lagos state takes 50%

You guys are just missing the whole point of my submission...

I'm not saying we should ignore the disease or pretend it away! The same way you can't treat the other infectious diseases with levity, all because you have treatment options... Even cholera and dysentery wreck mortal Havocs now and again to local communities; Malaria is still a threat to most parts of the developing world.

Like I told someone else up there, this virus should and can be contained while our lives go on... The past few months have done far more damage than you can imagine to people's lives; some will never recover financially, emotionally, and psychologically!!!

Even the hardest hit nations have started returning back to their lives, not because they have fully or even properly contained the virus. It's because they have told themselves the bitter truth: We can't hide away from the virus any longer!!! The world cannot continue like this ma!!!... The universe cannot, and will not survive continuous lockdown!!!... This is the hard cold truth!!!... Learning to live and survive with the virus is the current way forward!!!

Some of you here in Nigeria are yet to have a serious reality check! Hmmm... I feel sorry for a lot of you!!! Maybe it's because your lives are largely cushioned or have always been cushioned!!!.. But, that wall of financial security that gives some of us the leeway to keep advocating indoor living will not last! It can never be sustainable!!!... Soon, even the wealthy will join in condemning further lockdown and movement restrictions...

Haven't you observed that your leaders are now paying less attention to lockdown and movement restrictions??!... Even the emperor of Rivers state has lost interest!!! grin
Sir I understand you very well but we must be sure that we instill the proper hygiene practice and government ready to take every necessary measure to contain it.

We are not practicing the guidelines to prevent it and governments it not even concerned, only to be happy rolling out figures.

Those countries you mentioned have strategised and strategies to contain it and they are good to go. Imagine the UK stayed indoors (not partial lockdown) for over 1 month to study, carry out tests and strategise on the pandemic before easing thier lockdown.

I don't wish anyone to die of this virus, but when we have life, we have hope.

Our government is not living up to its responsibilities.

Can someone please shed some light on this. It is a major concern for me too. Come another presidential election and another political party wins, what happens to our investment? I know government is transitional, but I also know things don't happen the normal way here in Nigeria. What will happen to our investment after their current governing administration ends o huh
Reasons it is difficult for me to invest in the bond market, most of us invest in it for the profit motives, an indepth analysis would tell us that the funds (not all) are not used for the purpose it was issued hence you fear they may not be able to pay back and when the economy gets grounded they will be repaying by borrowing again to service debt.

With the person of PMB, he can use executive orders (force majeure) to even confiscate someones investment.

This is the reason election affects businesses. Investors watch people who are contending and thier programs for the economy, we knew how portfolio investors left the the Nigerian market that shook the Nigeria Stock Exchange and saw our naira devalued to the lowest in 2016. Uptill now, the economy have not recovered from it.

Though I'm still researching, I love to invest in the bond market as I have been doing in the stock market.

Doesn't matter... There has never been, and there will never be an effective lockdown in this third world nation!!!

We just have to add Covid-19 to our very long list of ailments and age long diseases: Malaria, Polio, influenza, typhoid, Lassa Fever, Hepatitis, Tuberculosis, Leprosy, Diabetes, etc... We have survived and thrived with them for centuries, another virus has not and will not make any difference!!!
This one spreads faster than those you mentioned and untill the vaccine is found, curtailing it is difficult. Check out thousands of deaths recorded in Europe and US alone, its scaring. Health is wealth

Lagos alone is 256 out of 389 and they are planning to re-open schools with the advice and guidance of WHO.

WHO is evil mechanism in the hands of Bill gates and China. These students will later pass is on to the vulnerable people at large.

Or is Lagos increasing thier figures to get financial aid (they will loot) from international community? Because Kano state stoped hyping their figures when Nigerians made mockery of it and since there were no billions coming to them.

I'm yet to understand why lagos state govt are planning to re-open schools while the pandemic keeps increasing in the state.

They are seasoned business men.

Sirs, you might go through a few of the last pages. I am sure you will find people here interesting. I adjudge this thread a respository of good brains on Nairaland.

A round of applause for them.

LET ME NOW encourage others to invite pundits they know here. I am sure they will appreciate the thread and also contribute.

Thanks for the invitation. Have been going through the pages since the invitation and I must confess the thread is 95% devoid of scammers and will comment once I'm ready.

Please we should look inward to what we see today as 'kobo kobo' business/investment. It may have an exponential growth with the position of Nigeria market presently.

If people, like Jim Ovia, Tony Elumelu, Peterside, Rewane and a host of other big moguls could make it this big when the started with small market, imagine where we will be by 2025 - 2030 if we take advantage of opportunities.

1982 to 2020 is 38 years, what is our life span. Kids don't build houses. 38 + age as at when house was built, the builder might have died. I keep saying, building is for next generation and not investment for the living. You didn't include cost of maintenance and tenant court cases.
In all, to be a good parent, leave something for your kids but definitely not as an investment for you on your mind. I also begged earlier for you to also quote failed shares.
I share in your ideas, imagine building an estate at the age of 60yrs, you ain't going to reap half the cost, still for the children.

Investing is shares is good but with a good capital especially on blue chip companies like nestle

And why can't they generate megawatts that will power its economy?

The meaning of what you said is that Ghana will produce the required megawatt if they have same scope as Nigeria.

The world Bank is giving relief to Nigeria in other to cussion the effects of covid-19 on the economy but Buhari and his goons never care about the effects of covid-19 on Nigerians as per their welfare whilst it imposed lockdown.

My advice is we should not depend and be hopeful on them since we can not fight back at them. We should avail ourselves to every opportunity within us. But avoid illegality, there are vast and untapped wealth with your location or any other locations you can think of.
