The steps to neutralise Wike is so easy.
This your comments is just so funny seriously.

1. Crush his base.
With what exactly? If you meant by Police that's under the Fed.govt and have been providing security for his factional HoA members, then you are on a long thinnnn.

2. Remove all his henchmen from every sphere.
From his government, then this is possible.

3. Ban clandestine meetings.
He could not even ban them from holding public meeting not to talk of clandestine meeting.

4. Collect some of his illegally acquired assets littered in the State.
Fubara that was kept from being arrested by efcc by Wike, he still has his case with efcc. Though he has immunity now but wait for it, if Wike has illegal properties, he too definitely has his skeleton with Wike. Both of them are the same and with F.G support of Wike, forget it.

5. Keep his arrow head busy with the police.
I keep asking which of the police. The one led by Disu, a Tinubu boy for that matter.

6.Align with Rotimi Amaechi and Tonye Cole and all those traditional rulers he insulted without reservations.
This is also possible but they can't really do much with a rugged man like Wike with F.G backing.

7. Make it uncomfortable for him to visit rivers often.
Lol, you must be the funniest person in Naija right now. Another impossible tenses.

8. Apply for recall of his ministerial nomination for Rivers state and send his replacement.
Another impossibly. Did he or River's people make him a minister. Ministerial position is not an elected positions that you can recall. So this is not possible[/quote]
That's all!
You see, it's only one that's outrightly possible out if your points.
My brother, except F.G hands off support for Wike,Fubara will lose in the long run. That's why elders like Edwin Clark has been calling on Tinubu to call Wike to order.

CrimePolicemen ‘kidnapped’ Me, Collected N1m For My Release, Man Alleges by Addme(op): 6:52am On Dec 11, 2023
One Mr. Samuel Soyemi has recounted how some men who claimed to be police officers from Zone 2, Onikan, Lagos State invaded his house and drove him and his family away in their vehicle.

In what Soyemi described as both an abduction and armed robbery, he said the cops transferred the sum of N1,025,000 from his account before he, his wife and other family members were let go.

Soyemi told PUNCH Metro on Thursday that the incident happened at around 11 p.m. on October 10 when the armed men invaded his house in the Osiele area of Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

According to him, the police officers accused him of being a ritualist and cultist, an allegation he said was untrue and unfounded.

The young man recalled how the officers drove them to the premises of the Ifo Police Station and asked them to pay a sum of N10m, otherwise, they would not be seen again.

Without going into the station for any documentation, Soyemi said the officers later succeeded in transferring money from his bank account into an Opay account.

We hardly eat at home as I am talking to you, because I had to borrow the money I sent to them that day. My wife and I are going through hell, with a nine-month-old baby at hand. Everything they took from me is almost N3m, including phones and jewellery. I need justice. We went to Zone 2, but nothing was done about the matter. The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, should come to my aid,” he cried out.

Soyemi‘s lawyer, Kayode Aderemi, told our correspondent that a petition had been written to the office of IGP Egbetokun.

A copy of the petition, it was gathered, was also made available to the Nigeria Police Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, on November 30.

According to a copy of the petition obtained by our correspondent, seven armed men reportedly stormed Soyemi’s residence in Osiele, seizing valuables worth over N2m aside from extorting him to the tune of N1,025,000.

The petition read, “At about 23:00 hours (11:00 p.m.) of October 10th, 2023, seven men stormed our clients’ house at Alanco axis, Osiele, Abeokuta, Ogun State. These men were fully armed with guns. They later identified themselves as police officers from the Police Zonal Command, Zone 2, Onikan, Lagos State.

“Without stating allegation of any crime against our clients, they ransacked our clients’ two-bedroom flat and took several valuables belonging to our clients. The valuables include a golden bracelet worth N750,000; a diamond earring worth N650,000; an iPhone 11 worth N400,000; a New Age power bank (20 mAh) worth N20,000; and three iPhone chargers worth N6,000 each.

After all these items were forcefully taken at gunpoint, our clients (a total of six family members) were arrested that same night and driven to the Ifo Police Station, Ogun State.
“While at the Ifo Police station, the police officers told our clients that if they did not transfer the sum of N10,000,000, they would be killed and no one would know, since their arrest at Abeokuta was not documented.

“Afraid for their lives, our clients immediately placed emergency calls to family and friends to request financial support. Then, a total N1,025,000 was immediately transferred to the account provided by one of the officers later identified as Officer Oladapo Olayemi.

“The account that the police officer received the money N1,025,000 is OPay 9126240487, belonging to one Olufunke Ebunoluwa Samuel. Our clients later learned that on the same night, the money was remitted to the Access bank account of Officer Oladapo Olayemi
.

“Our clients also informed us that they have reported the matter to the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 2 who has invited them. Our clients have honoured the invitation but that nothing concrete has come out of it.”

In his appeal, the counsel pleaded with Egbetokun to investigate and prosecute the seven police officers “that committed this act tantamount to robbery.”

He also asked that Soyemi’s N1,025,000 and other items taken away be recovered.

Aderemi urged Egbetokun to protect the Soyemis over fear that the cops could return to harm them, “since these seven police officers already know the house and other details of our clients.”

He added, “We are ready and willing to provide statement of account to evince the transactions referenced above should they be required.”

When contacted on Thursday, the FPRO, Adejobi, acknowledged the petition, stating that every petition was treated objectively, especially when the petition bothers on unprofessionalism and corruption.

Asked if any action had been taken, Adejobi expressed assurance that necessary action must have been taken on it, asking the complainant to follow up through police complaint platforms.

“Definitely, every petition is attended to and treated objectively, more so when it borders on unprofessionalism, highhandedness, and corruption.

“I am sure necessary action must have been taken on it. He can also follow up on the case through our complaint platforms,” Adejobi said in a text message.

Nairaland GeneralDey Play, Idan, No Evidence, Other Popular Nigerian Slangs In 2023 by Addme(op): 7:10am On Dec 10, 2023
As a country, Nigerians probably wouldn’t allow a day to pass without coining and adding a unique word or phrase into their diction. Year after year, Nigerians continue to create new slangs to ‘catch cruise’ (joke around), banter, and communicate effectively. But only a few of those unique words made it to the country’s pop culture.

As usual, 2023 met expectations in terms of new slang. Tribune Online presents some of the year’s most popular slangs and their meanings:

1. Dey Play

This standout slang is a subtle way of telling someone to stop deceiving themselves and be more realistic. For example, if someone says, “I will have A’s in all my 10 courses this semester,” his friend’s response could be “Dey play”. This indirectly suggests the person should be more realistic about his potential grades.

2. Idan

This slang became so popular that even President Bola Ahmed Tinubu once used it. “Idan,” a Yorùbá word which literally translates to “magic”, gained major prominence in 2023. It describes someone extraordinary, unique, special, influential, and powerful. For example, “My friend is Idan; he scored 5 goals in one match yesterday.”

3. No Evidence

Burna Boy is a master at creating popular slang. Last year, he blessed us with “Breakfast,” meaning heartbreak. In 2023, he added “You go explain tire because no evidence.” This slang signifies that people might not believe in your hard work and effort without positive results (evidence) to support your claims.

4. Must be ment

This phrase is used when someone is out of touch with reality or behaves/thinks in a highly irrational way. For instance, during a discussion between two friends, one of them says, “My boyfriend beats me every day because he loves me.” Her friend’s response could be, “Must be ment,” questioning the speaker’s logic.

5. Let the poor breathe

This slang became a national hit after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu used it in a speech. It’s an appeal to the government, influential people, and marketers to consider the poor masses in their decision-making. For example, “A bag of rice is now 50,000; the government should let the poor breathe and not suffocate them.”

6. On Colos

Colos is another name for Colorado, a synthetic drug mixture containing many drugs, including cannabis. ‘On Colos’ questions someone’s state of mind or suggests they are acting under the influence of a substance. For example, “You want to spend 5 million in a nightclub; are you sure you are okay or are you on Colos?”

7. Pressure ti wa

This is yet another slang that sprang up in 2023. It became popular after it was used by an Abeokuta-based man while expressing his dissatisfaction at the state of economic hardship during the height of the Naira scarcity earlier this year. “Pressure ti wa,” a mix of Yoruba and English languages, literally translates to “There is pressure.” The slang is used to express the intensity of a situation. For example, “Guy, pressure ti wa, the exam is starting tomorrow, and I’m yet to read anything.”

8. Go to court

The slang was first popularised by Nigerian politicians following the 2023 general election, after which it was adopted by most Nigerians. ‘Go to court’ is sarcastic advice for someone to seek redress in the court of law in case they are not satisfied with a certain result or ‘political’ development. For instance, “Go to court if you are not pleased with the result of the match.”

PoliticsPeter Obi Compares Nigeria’s Budget, Poverty Rate With China’s. Is He Correct? by Addme(op): 7:02am On Dec 09, 2023
The 28th edition of the United Nations Climate Change Conference, widely known as COP28, kicked off in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on November 30.

The annual conference is the world’s only multilateral decision-making forum on climate change with almost complete membership of every country worldwide.

It provides a forum for decisions on how to address the climate crisis, such as limiting global temperature rise to 1.5°C, helping vulnerable communities adapt to the effects of climate change, net-zero emissions and climate financing.

A total of 81,027 delegates registered to attend COP28 in person, including political and business leaders, climate scientists, journalists, and other stakeholders.

Nigeria, which is among the member states, was represented at the event with a delegation led by President Bola Tinubu.

However, there have been criticisms over the number of registered delegates from Nigeria at the conference.

In a series of posts on social media on Sunday, Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 elections, criticised the size of Nigeria’s delegation, describing it as a “waste of scarce resources“.

Obi made several claims in his posts. TheCable compared the politician’s statements to available data and this is what we found.

CLAIM 1: NIGERIA HAS SAME NUMBER OF DELEGATES AS CHINA

Verdict: Correct

In his tweets, Obi “congratulated” Nigeria for equalling China in the number of delegates at the conference.

“In a twist of sad irony, let me congratulate the giant of Africa, Nigeria, for matching the great China, with the same number of contingents at the ongoing COP28 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates,” the LP presidential candidate tweeted.

“Nigeria’s contingent to COP28 totalled 1,411, the same number as the Chinese contingents.”

A list of delegates published by the organisers showed that 1,411 participants registered from Nigeria.

Thus, Nigeria had the third-highest overall number of delegates at the conference — alongside China.

The participants’ list also showed that Nigeria has the highest number of registered delegates from Africa.

The host, UAE, occupied the overall top spot with 4,409 delegates, followed by Brazil with 3,081.

CLAIM 2: CHINA’S BUDGET FOR 2024 IS ABOUT $4 TRILLION

Verdict: Partly incorrect

Arguing that the number of delegates is a needless expense of lean resources, Obi said Nigeria’s 2024 budget is about $33 billion compared to China’s which he claimed had budgeted $4 trillion.

“While China’s budget for 2024 is about $4 trillion, about $2,860 per head; Nigeria’s budget is about $33 billion, about $165 per head,” he said.

China’s budget is usually announced during the country’s annual parliamentary sessions. The 2023 budget figures were announced in March. As such, China does not yet have a 2024 budget.

For its 2023 budget, China projected a revenue of RMB 23.6 trillion ($3.4 trillion) and set spending at RMB 27.5 trillion ($4 trillion), resulting in an official deficit of nearly RMB 3.9 trillion ($564.1 billion).

However, Obi is right in his claim about Nigeria’s budget’s size of about $33 trillion. President Bola Tinubu has presented a budget proposal of N27.5 trillion for the 2024 fiscal year. This translated to $36 billion at the budget benchmark exchange rate of N750/$ or $33.5 billion at the average exchange rate of N820/$ on November 29.

CLAIM 3: CHINA’S HDI IS 79/191 WHILE NIGERIA IS 163/191

Verdict: Correct

“China has a high Human Development Index, HDI, with a ranking of 79 out of 191 countries measured, and Nigeria has a low HDI, with a ranking of 163 out of 191 countries measured,” Obi said.

The United Nations defines human development as a measure of the richness of human life i.e. improving lives rather than assuming that economic growth will automatically translate to better wellbeing. It focuses on people, their opportunities, and their choices.

One of the purposes of the index is to show that monetary measures, such as GDP per capita, are inadequate proxies of development.

In the latest HDI ranking, China ranked 79 out of 191 countries, while Nigeria ranked 163.

Switzerland placed first while South Sudan was at the bottom.

CLAIM 4: NIGERIA HAS MORE PEOPLE LIVING IN MULTI-DIMENSIONAL POVERTY THAN CHINA

Verdict: Correct

“Nigeria has more people living in ‘Multi-Dimensional’ poverty than China, despite China having seven times our population,” Obi added.

Multidimensional poverty encompasses deprivations experienced by poor people — such as poor health, lack of education, inadequate living standards, and living in environmentally hazardous areas, according to the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative.

The latest UN report said 3.9% of China’s population lives in multi-dimensional poverty and pegged the rate of multi-dimensional poverty in Nigeria at 33.0%.

These figures were based on the organisation’s most recent data in 2021.

Population data from the World Bank estimates China’s population at 1.4 billion compared to 218 million in Nigeria.

According to the UN estimates, China has 54.6 million people living in multidimensional poverty compared to Nigeria’s 71.9 million.

In November 2022, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said 133 million Nigerian citizens (about 63%) are multi-dimensionally poor.

Both sources confirm Obi’s statements that more people in Nigeria live in multidimensional poverty than in China, despite the variance in population.

Kenyan President William Ruto says President Bola Tinubu’s decision to remove petrol subsidy moves Africa forward.

Ruto spoke at a high-level event for African leaders with the theme “Africa’s green industrialisation” on the sideline of the ongoing COP28 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

He said African leaders need to make more of such difficult decisions that will stabilise their economies.

“I want to congratulate my colleagues, heads of state – the President of Zambia for many steps they have had to take to stabilise their economy,” he said.

“President Tinubu here, who has had to make very difficult decisions, including the removal of subsidy.

“We all have to make such difficult decisions to get Africa moving and I want to promise here that we will gather the courage to make the right decisions so that Africa can match into the future.

“And also partner with other regions of the world as we tackle the challenge of climate change, and as we create opportunities for young people so that our young people don’t have to get into dangerous routes to go to other destinations.

“We want to create jobs, we want them to get equipped on our continent and continue working on their continent.”

He added that investors and development partners need to know that Africa has green investment projects and is ready to use renewable energy to turn the existential threat facing the continent into opportunities for investments, job creation and development.

Ruto said African presidents need to work together to attract the potential of green energy to the continent.

The Kenyan president said some companies are already stepping forward to invest in Africa because they see the “tremendous potential, opportunities, and businesses that exist on our continent”
