OOP is a concept developed to take the stress out of programming, to take the manual labour out of programming and put the "art and engineering" into it.
Programming is not just about writing functional code now, but being able to come back to the code later, to add more functionality easily, make it more efficient e.t.c
You may not fully understand OOP till you have written over 2000 lines of code and your London bridge of spaghetti code starts falling down when you need to make a few additions or do some plumbing to your code.
When you finally get that experience, you'll hate procedural coding all your life.
But, paraphrasing Newton, he said "he stood on the shoudlers of giants see he could see farther than his peers.
Make all the effort to learn and use OOP now, so u'll be saved all the stress.

I took JAMB 5 times
i started in 1999 when i was 13yrs 7 months and scored 188,
i wrote my SSCE the same year and made all my papers
then wrote PolyJAMB in the same year and got into the polytechnic,
and all through poly till HND I, i kept writing JAMB 4more times and tried Direct entry too till 2003 when
i wrote the last one and decided to call it quits.
Incidentally, that 188 was d highest i ever scored in JAMB
It was really baffling.
Not that i wasn't brilliant, i am now and i was then, but i just couldn't prove that to JAMB
Anyway, it's past, i'm a graduate and working now.
Life is beautiful now.
My advice is: just get into the University by hook or crook (don't quote me),
but study hard in school to justify whatever certificate you get from there.
If i had got into the university then by crook,i wouldn't have minded.
Back then in poly, there was a guy that scored 200+ in polyJAMB but was one of the dullest in class (no offence meant)
Nigeria today is corrupt, it's just getting better, so if you are really worth your onions, don't waste ur time reading for JAMB, get into school anyhow ,
at least you know you are good upstairs and you can deliver when you get into school and finally into the labour market.

Linear Programming problem using simplex method was one of my turning points in programming.
It's not about the language you use, but the strength and logic of your algorithm
You may spend 2days thinking the algorithm, and simply write the code in 2hrs !, as simple as that, if you have laid the bed well (I mean thought out a good algorithm).
After i did this problem back then in H.N.D I, i decided i was going to be a programmer.
If you are the brave-hearted type, PLS do it on your own, if you contract out the work, you'll keep running to solutions for the rest of your programming life.
He who fights and runs away wil leave to fight another day.
I used Qbasic back then, but no matter the language you use, vow never to write spaghetti code.
ORGANISE your code the OOP way, and you'll enjoy doing the work, plus, it will make the work a lot of fun.
But watch out, this is about the simplest assignment in operations research, wait till you write a program to solve assignment problem, then you will know what's up.

I mean the programme that is done in APTECH nigeria with affiliation to U.K universities where u can get a U.K degree at completion.
The problem is: i am a H.N.D graduate of computer science, but i am told i really need this B.Sc degree even if i have a masters, so i need to get that immediately.
I am not so much i need of the training cos i've trained myself all i know this far.
I just need the degree.
Pls does anyone know how true the APTECH programme is, the duration, and the cost

Hello all,
I'm an intermediate level J2ME programmer.
I'm on a project to develop a PDF viewing application for the mobile phone.
I downloaded the PDF API from Big Faceless, and included it in the library extension for Sun java wireless 2.5 beta.
But there's this class in the jar that implements the java.awt.print.Pageable class,
but J2ME doesn't allow the use of any of the awt package members.
Pls, someone give me an idea how to beat this or give me another PDF jar that doesn't use any of the awt package members.
