Defending Champion, Nigeria's Wellington Jighere led on the first two days. Today being the 3rd day, two other Nigerians are contending for top position, along with the greatest Scrabble player of all time, Nigel Richard. So, in the mix are 3 Nigerians in top 5. Isn't this country blessed? |
The 2017 World English-Language Scrabble Players Association (WESPA) Championship is currently on-going in Nairobi Kenya but only a few Nigerians outside the game seem to be aware. The last edition two years ago in Perth Australia, where Nigeria's Jighere Wellington emerged world champion almost suffered similar fate as #TeamNigeria went unheralded, until a Nigerian won [for the first time ever] and the country became the number one Scrabble playing nation in the world, owing to #TeamNigeria's superlative showing. It would be recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari placed a congratulatory call through to the team whilst they were still in Australia. In defence of that title two years down the line, when there isn't an outcry of visa denials and other logistical troubles that seem to characterize every international outing in the sport because it's being held in Africa, Nigerians are not even aware of any World Championship. The saddest part is the fact that #TeamNigeria travelled as both Defending Champions and as the Number One Scrabble Playing nation. A feat which, until 2015, was the exclusive preserve of Scrabble world powers like Britain, USA, Canada, Australia, Thailand etc. Let's cheer our own please, even if we're cursed with ignoramuses at the helm of our country's sporting affair. All the best #TeamNigeria. You can follow live via the link below www.event.poslfit.com/2017/wespac/

miketayo:Read well na. "The average man faced with similar situation" |
Dude, stop the sanctimony. The average man, faced with similar situation as we have in this country, will do same. Case in point. Last week, a man asked for some money to add up to what he had to sort his wife's hospital bills at National Hospital (he said any amount would do). I gave him 2k. Less than 5 hours later, I had to pick up something at Wuse market. I found the same man at a corner inside Wuse market drinking beer. We recognized ourselves. He was remorse but I couldn't be worried. He confessed he begs for a living. Imagine that. That's what this country has been reduced to. Anointed beggars everywhere. You get? |
HungerBAD:Oh really? Mister Lawyer. So, what happens to the bail bond? Why is there a need for the bail bond? I'm just sick of these "online lawyers" who claim authority over what they know next to nothing about. |
Henryyy:Exactly why it'll be worth the whole effort, for me. That's a noble thing to do. |

This Nigerian man, JINADU ADEWALE MORUFF, for fear of being deported after years of fruitless effort to obtain residence status in London UK, travelled back to Nigeria. However, fate smiled on him and his Residency application was approved-but after he left the United Kingdom. Nobody knows his whereabout. Please be a brother's keeper, kindly help trend this information on social media, who knows he might just see it and claim his breakthrough. A neighbour of his picked this up for him. Lalasticlala

brownlord:One just has to learn to believe something, one way or another. You may wanna learn that too. Plus, if he is, I'll let God be the judge of that. |
May God rest your soul. |
kendraloops:No, he is not serious my dear. It's a continuously ongoing process UNTIL THEY ADVERTISE OTHERWISE (when they have enough people to cover their scope). If you haven't begun the process, start now. They have a backlog of people awaiting being contacted. All the best! |
Mastav:Your personal opinion is not law. Other persons have had good experiences with the said scheme you just discredited. Rather than be singed in deepseated indignation, I'll recommend you tow a path of personal betterment. With personal development and constant writing practise, you could become a better writer, if you so choose. Though, writing isn't for everyone. And, I won't even contact you if you write like this, much less Daily Post. So, cool down. The Daily Post scheme is for real. Ask me! |
NaturalNerd:True. But not impossible. Plus, she could go the unconventional route too. That is, write down the thoughts and then type. Difficult processes in all, just like you've said. |
bamdly:Receive sense in Jesus' name. |
sevenhundred:None of the above, dude. Just that minions like this scallywag, who's paymasters are hellbent on smearing Saraki, no matter what positivity he brings towards nation building, need to be put where they belong. In the gutter. |
yarimo:I'd rather believe him than your real paternity. Smello |
This nonsense will die a natural death because Saraki has cleared the air. Sowore and his paid agents as well as their paymasters, are defeated on this one. Stupid people |
Dolapo Osinbajo, the unassuming wife of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is 50 years old today. She took to her instagram page to post a picture of herself and hubby, VP Yemi Osinbajo cutting a birthday cake. What is noteworthy however, is the simplistic disposition of the landmark celebration, with a simple cake to mark the occasion. Happy birthday to her.

Oh. Ok! At least, effective immediately, we all can go back to our normal lives. |
highway007:The luck will be when you get to Azerbaijan. You'll get menial jobs for English speakers. But definitely not on a tourist visa. Your tourist visa grants you entry. Converting your tourist visa to working visa/permit is gonna be based on your street sense. As a sharp naija guy, it shouldn't be difficult. Just don't do anything illegit. You'll be sorry you tried. Need further info? Hit me up. All the best. |
highway007:Which employment? Azerbaijani or Dubai employment? In any case, UAE visa is easy to get. Less than a $100 dollar or so can get you a two-week visa. You don't necessarily need an agent for that. DIY |
Emacool:They don't have an embassy in Nigeria. Follow the thread |
gorgton:Apparently. Pardon me. So much for auto-correct |
What continent is dat country located pls? Azerbaijan is the gateway of Europe and Asia. They live western. Though, culturally Muslim but extremely secular. They're pro-west. Stable and moderate economy. They celebrate Christmas majorly. How about getting jobs and what is their economy like[ Please refer to my responses above. Apologies for the late response. |
Comrade50:Sorry for the late response. Up for some pressing matters. Azerbaijan is a really good place to live in. They're stable. And their visa is a bit easy to get. But the singular fact that they DO NOT HAVE AN EMBASSY IN NIGERIA makes it a tall order. Refer to my response above to see the challenge. But I hear they're working on making their CABLE VISA flexible for non-ASAN citizens. With that, you can get it online for about $50 or less. But at the moment, none that I'm aware of. But I'm working on making contacts. Will keep you posted. |
jpride:Yes. They do not have an embassy in Nigeria. There's actually a slight difficulty about that except you're willing to take the plunge. By that, I mean take some bold steps, which of course costs money. Travel to the country where they have an embassy. Cairo, Egypt is one. And Dubai, UAE, is another. Take a pick. The option of a cable visa doesn't count for ordinary passport holders like most Nigerians, except you're not one. Only diplomatic passport holders can apply for the cable visa online; or except you meet the ASAN requirements(which you do not qualify for as Nigerian). Another option would be to mail your documents to either place, if you have a TRUSTWORTHY CONTACT. But I'll strongly advise against that. |
Great! Let the questions flow. Just try to be specific. Thank you |
Hi travelling buffs. Let's discuss Azerbaijan. The facts and fictions. Realities and the make believe. Social life. Education. Economy. And importantly, how to travel there in 20 days or less. Let's roll it.......... Ask me any question |
It appears the raging feud between Senator Dino Melaye and Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello will continue for a while longer. Otherwise, how else would one describe this Instagram post by Dino? Read the hilarious post below: 'I asked God "why are you taking me through troubled waters"? 'He replied "because Yahaya Bello doesn't know how to swim". SDM'
