Being landlocked is not what is important, nobody will die if they cant see ocean or beaches. What is important is having access to the Sea so as import and export and that the South East has due to its waterways that exit into the ocean.

Switzerland is a landlocked country of less than 10 million people but Switzerland has a larger GDP than Nigeria.

I would rather be a landlocked rich Switzerland than a poor Nigeria with Coast line

Then educate your people and stop insulting other tribes intelligence over what landlocked means

so biafrans cant do imports and exports by air. with all your access to the sea, more than 60% of your population still live below the poverty line.

If Igbos say SE isn't landlocked due to having rivers whose route will eventually lead to the ocean(as if they don't pass through other regions),then most of the Northern states aren't landlocked either.

Until we can see ocean beaches

South east remains a land locked
Banking on international laws as a way to access ijaw or akwa Ibom sea is equivalent to banking on international law to put secession inside Nigeria’s constitution

Awori people are Yoruba people not bini aka edo (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Awori_tribe). where do you get this falsehood you spread about? or do you sit somewhere and cook them up. Awori people might lay claim to it because Oyo empire disintegrated. Before the Awori, or Ojebu, or Egun or whatever sub Yoruba tribe started claiming the Lagos, it was the property of Oyo empire aka Yoruba people everyone traded on it. All Yoruba sub groups did everything together like intermarriage, so those you call "Awori" might just be mixed blood of Yoruba sub groups aka Yoruba people.

What is the demography of the total population in 1911 as stated in the picture? and Where did you snap that picture from?

British and federal government of Nigeria developed Lagos port. Yorubas migrated into Lagos like any other tribe in Nigeria. The British captured Lagos from Bini people and Sand filled most part of it and develop it. The indigenous people in Lagos are Aworis and Egun people and they are not yorubas.

Eastern coal contributed to development of ports in EAST only.

Delta oil did not develop Apapa port.

Prior to Apapa Lagos Wharf was already operational with ocean liners.

Nigerian Ports Authority is a partnership with foundation agreements in 1955 between Federal Government of Nigeria and Lagos.

Yes, Lagos was a separate COLONY!
But it was called a COLONY for a reason.

told you it was built by the COLONIAL (from the word COLONY) masters, and all u could counter with, is Lagos being a separate COLONY?
Like, how does that change anything? SMH!

And who were the natives that worked with colonial government in Lagos ? Igbos ? Or the returned yoruba ex slaves who also built some architecture that last till date ?
Have you no heard of Souza, Fernandez, Rochas ,Da Silva of Lagos smh

According to the topic and the title of this thread, the SE is not landlocked, but thanks for at least admitting that the SE is landlocked, so, kindly correct the OP and the ignorant author.

Per access to the Atlantic, you are free to do whatever semantics and acrobatics you so desire with all that, just don't insult our intelligence that the SE is not landlocked.

You don't have beaches with white sand and you are not directly sitting in front of an ocean and the fact that you can paddle canoe from the SE to the Atlantic doesn't mean you are not landlocked.

Stop confusing yourselves with lies and deceptions.

Exactly that you can link the ocean via a river doesn’t mean your not land locked

With due respect, ur geography seems poor.
Ekiti state (in the SW) has common boundary with Kwara (in the NC); I'm surprised as to how a SWesterner would need to go thru the geo-POLITICAL SS, when traveling to the North.

As for ur question regarding how the SE can access the Atlantic Ocean without passing through Nigeria border:
Look at it this way; if they put u in a boat at the Onitsha-part of River Niger (which is an international water body), and that boat keeps moving southwards, within minutes, u would find ursef in the Atlantic Ocean.
No land separation, nothing!

Though the SE is truly landlocked; and would be an enclave of Nigeria if independent, but I would rather an independent landlocked SE than present Nigeria.

SE is landlocked period
