Politics / Re: FAQs About Nigeria's 2019 Poverty Statistics by Adefatima: 3:44am On May 11, 2020 |
rdokoye: Any sort of poverty statistics in Nigeria is going to be inaccurate, because Nigeria lacks a National Identification System (National Identification Card, National Insurance Number, Social Security etc).
It (Nigeria) has no way of identifying how many people are in the country and their current economic situation, i.e. whether they're in work, claiming benefits (which are nonexistent in Nigeria), taxation payments, household wealth etc...
In short, Nigeria's statistics on poverty are highly speculative; they're simply based on surveys, with a miniscule sample size. How can you extrapolate from 600 respondents in a state like Lagos that has 20 million people? Or in a place like Ogun State, which has over 4 million people in it? It's too small, ideally, you'd want to measure 20% of the populace, given the limitations, but surveying 40 million people is unreasonable.
In short, until Nigeria fully commits to its National Identification Card, you can forget about getting an accurate statistics on poverty in Nigeria. It's all speculation. Extrapolating from less than a fraction of the population is pointless.
Pele all because Igbo land was declared the poverty capital 3 Likes |

I stated a basis for my argument. The 1st class traditional rulers in a lot of those states are Fulanis installed by the caliphate and they exercise considerable authority and leadership autonomy. What have you stated apart from conjecture? That is because power was handed over to Fulanis In an independent nation that won’t exist again power will be handed over to the locals Just how igbos don’t hold away over Niger delta again |

Fulanis have strong control in Nassarawa and Niger in addition to the one you already mentioned. Nasarawa is part of the emirate and same as Niger
Emir of Keffi Emir of Lafia Emir of Lafiagi Etsu Nupe Emir of Nasarawa Borgu emirate Lapai Emir of Ilorin

Ilorin is one town in kwara and should Nigeria divide they can’t go with north unless they want a Lesotho situation |

iskoki: Don't confuse Middlebelt with North Central. North Central is a geopolitical zone in Nigeria that comprises 6 states : 1. Plateau. 2. Benue. 3. Kwara. 4. Kogi. 5. Nassarawa 6. Niger.
However, the Middlebelt is a conglomeration of the tribes that are found in the central part of Nigeria. People of middlebelt include most of the tribes mentioned in the 6 aforementioned states plus tribes from parts of the following :
1. Kaduna - Southern part to be specific. 2. Taraba - Jujun etc 3. Kebbi. - Zuru 4. Bauchi 5. Adamawa 6. Taraba. 7. Gombe.
There are a few other tribes I wouldn't be able to mention. Brilliantly said |

He won’t fail to do that only because he is Igbo but he will fail because he can’t offer the brain he dosen’t have.
It takes a brainy man like Awolowo to pioneer all those firsts among first. Infact I read a report on what obstacle Awolowo faced when he was trying to implement the free education policy.
The way he handled the situation even against the world powers advice that time and the backlash he got from the Agbekoyas made me salute him more. Yup the useless Azikwe would have divided Yorubas along religious line With 0 achievements Divert all Yoruba resources to Enugu |

ZZ22: yes car, a pointer to booming economy and only the well fed own cars. Meanwhile, Paul Anber's essay "Modernization and Political Disintegration: Nigeria and the Ibos" published in the journal of Modern African Studies vol. 5, No 2 (Sep, 1967) 163-179. See pp 171-172 for excerpt: " '' A system of Universal primary education was introduced in Eastern Nigeria in 1953, though the mission schools had already prospered in the Region long before then. Despite the fact that there was a requirement for limited contributory fees, education continued to be very much in demand. Even at the time when universal primary education was first introduced, the percentage of the population over seven years of age who were literate was higher in the East than in any other Region: East, 10.6 per cent; West 9.5 percent; North, 0.9 percent. Since 1959, the East has had more teachers and pupils than any other area of the country, with the heaviest emphasis on primary education. Figures for elementary and secondary education indicate that the approximate ratio of teachers to population in 1963 was 1 to every 1,500 in the East, 1 to every 2,500 in th West, and 1 for every 10,000 in the north. Other statistical data reveal how rapidly the standard of living rose among Ibos. The East had the most extensive hospital facilities in the country by 1965, the largest regional production of electricity in the country by 1954, and the greatest number of vehicle registrations by 1963. The economic orientation of the Ibos was also reflected through membership of credit associations:in 1963 the East had 68,220 individual members, the west 5,776, and the north a mere 2,407." ''... Lol which Zik. The party Zik was fronting was actually formed by a Yoruba called Herbert Macaulay.
When Macaulay died, he left the structure of the party in the hand of Zik and there are Yorubas in Zik party so it’s not a matter of Zik wining singlehandedly.
However Zik mistake was that he tried becoming the western region premier: such audacity!
The reason NCNC won was because they have a policy with a relaxed tax system. Awolowo party manifesto was about tax due to the fact that the party is planning free education, free healthcare, and a lot of social projects.
The Agbekoyas (farmers) who constitute the class financing the government detest paying high tax and they tried voting NCNC coz they think they won’t need to pay too much tax with NCNC manifesto.
However, the Yorubas are politically conscious about having a Zik as a premier and they collectively let tribe reasoning supersede political differences.
Their argument is this: why should an Igbo man superintend on the Yorubas with such number of intellectuals in the west? Will Azikwe be the one commanding our Obas? Will Zik be the one controlling the Odua investment funds? Will Zik be the one controlling the Yoruba man destiny? Hell no! Let us thank Allah Because Azikwe went on to sell Igbo people imagine what he would have done with Yorubas 1 Like |
