All businesses owned by South Africans including
Game, Shoprite, PEP and others in Malawi will
be under lock and key today April 24th.
Malawians are totally boycotting these
businesses following the xenophobic attacks in
South Africa. Two Malawians died during the
attacks, many businesses owned by Malawians
were destroyed and just 2 days ago, Wednesday
April 22, 390 of them were repatriated to
Malawi.

Abuja - Chairman of the House of
Representatives Committee on Education,
Representative Aminu Suleiman, has called for
the Presidential Scholarship Scheme to be put on
hold forthwith.
Suleiman made the call at a meeting of the
committee with the National Universities
Commission (NUC) in Abuja on Thursday.
Suleiman said that the call became necessary
because the process of selecting candidates for
the scheme lacked due process.
He stressed that the scheme should be put on
hold until the commission complied with the
directive on due process in the selection of
candidates.
According to the committee chairman, NUC is
requested to furnish the committee with the
advertisement for the scholarship and the time it
takes Nigerians to respond.
Suleiman added that the committee requested
the commission to submit the list of all the
applicants for the scheme and the board
members of the commission that screened them.
He said that the commission had not responded
to the requests.
"The commission was not able to get back to us
when we requested for this information.
"We asked for it in our last meeting in 2014 but
only saw the ceremony on television where the
NUC was giving out awards to beneficiaries.
"It is our belief that there is no state in this
federation where you cannot find a first class
candidate.

"The committee is of the opinion that somebody
somewhere sat in his office, drew up a list and
submitted to the commission.
"The exercise must be halted until a full detail
of selection process is supplied to the
committee," he said.
The Executive Secretary of NUC, Professor Julius
Okojie, said the scholarship committee was an
agency of the presidency, adding that all first
class graduates were eligible to sit for the
examination, irrespective of state of origin.
"I feel deeply pained that you insinuate that
there was no transparency in the exercise.
"The exercise is a process, criteria were set, we
advertised and it ran for six weeks.
"I will never be a party to shortchanging
anybody or get somebody disadvantaged.
"When you set criteria, it is easy to implement
but to say that the criteria are unfair is another
thing," Okojie said.
He, however, advised against scrapping the
programme, adding that it was a process of
selecting candidates purely on merit.
"Scrapping the programme is not advisable, it is
a system that is playing out and we are still
studying the programme.
"Beneficiaries are from all the geo-political zones
in the country and the criteria are for first class
honours graduates who sit for examinations as
part of the selection process."

Controversial actress, Tonto Dikeh has been
slammed by an Instagram user identified simply
as Pearl chuks (@pumpsberry) for allegedly
owing her a lot of money for a product she
bought on credit.
The aggrieved businesswomen stated that he
gave the actress a replicated Givenchy bag after
she couldn’t afford the original version, adding
that it has been over a month now and the
actress hadn’t made effort to pay for it.

“Dear @tontolet,thank you for pushing me
beyond my comfort zone.I trusted you as a
celebrity and gave you a Givenchy luggage bag
and handbag with you promising you will
pay,you couldn’t afford the original so you asked
for the replica.
“You ordered March 8th it was delivered March
20th and u had to pay that day but.its been
over one month and it’s been story after
story,you ignore my messages and calls,you
claim you assistant was going to pay me,I called
Peter and he said the check you gave him of the
8th bounced on the 10th. Dear Tontoh I am a
young girl 23yrs old trying to run a business.
“I am embarrassed and I am upset at myself
that I trusted you as a public figure to pay me
back,now I ask you my money you block me on
Instagram?Who does that?when I read the
tiannah story I thought it was a lie but I am still
amazed at the fact that you have stooped so
low and blocking me when you owe me.You will
pay me by fire by force,you will not bully me.
“I have lost respect for you as a woman and as
a human. I will make sure everyone knows who
you really are so you don’t go dupe another
young girl,thank God I didn’t give you the
authentic bags if not where will I be?God sees
all the devil we do and it will come back to you

Meanwhile, Tonto has responded swiftly to the
allegation, denying that she was indebted to the
lady in question. She also posted a munched
screen of her conversation with the 23 year-old-
lady.
In her response, Tonto said, “I Am not really the
type to keep messages but am glad I did in this
particular case. ‘A young lady claims I owe
her,as a celebrity,people think it is easy to scare
us with the press but am sorry not this time .
After stalking my life through social media and
text messages,I succumbed to ordering some
items from this young lady in a way to support
her business, she was truthful that she sold only
not the originals and convinced me by sending
messages of her previous deal with Omotola the
actress n few others n I told her i didn’t want
but she convinced me and since it was my
younger friend’s birthday, I took pity I asked for
the items*
”When I saw these things they were so fake*I
asked her to come back and take the items
severally as it has been with my house
manager,we have never tried to pay her and We
never gave her no cheque.
”I know she might be pretty upset and I will
forgive u but Am sorry I wouldn’t buy nothing
from u and I promise no celebrity will buy from
yoy… None of the message she posted online is
on my phone….OK back to something better,”
she wrote.

The National Association of Nigerian Students
(NANS), has given the South African Government
seven days ultimatum to stop the xenophobic
attacks on Nigerians and other Africans resident
in that country.
This ultimatum is conveyed in a statement
issued by the association and made available to
the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on
Saturday.
The statement, signed by Nwankwo Ezekiel,
NAN’s Public Relations Officer, warned that
South African investments and citizens in Nigeria
would face reprisal attacks if the xenophobic
attacks on Nigerians and their businesses were
not stopped.

“ NANS condemns the sudden surge of attacks
and deaths of our brothers and sisters and loss
of their properties in South Africa as a result of
xenophobia attacks.
“ It is with deep sense of sadness and
brotherhood that we are urging the South
African Government to ensure an urgent solution
and bring to an end attacks on our own citizens
and their businesses within the next seven days.
“If the attacks and looting are not stopped
within seven days, we will be left with no
alternative than to go against all the South
African investments in our noble country,
Nigeria.
“We will not stop at this but will go further and
make all South Africa citizens residing in our
country uncomfortable’’, it said.
It added that South Africa and Nigeria were
being looked up to by the world to lead Africa to
greatness, adding that xenophobic attacks were
an embarrassment to the entire continent.

Delta State have recovered 8 ballot boxes and
310 Permanent Voters Card, PVCs from
suspected political thugs during the presidential
and national assembly elections.
Addressing newsmen Friday during a show of
force exercise aimed at reassuring electorates of
the commitment of security agencies in
protecting them during and after the
governorship and state House of Assembly
election, the Commanding Officer of the
battalion, Lt. Col. Mathew Oyekola stated that
owing to the success of the exercise, the system
has deemed it fit for it to be repeated ahead of
the April 11 elections.
He said: “As a command, we made series of
successes in stemming the tide of election
irregularities by arresting some persons who
wanted to perpetrate violence as well as the
recovery of 8 ballot boxes and 310 PVCs at
Ndokwa East Local Government Area.
“The suspects and the electoral materials have
since been handed over to the police and the
Returning Officer for the LGA.”
Areas covered by the show of force exercise
include; Ughelli North, Ughelli South, Isoko
North, Isoko South and Ethiope East.
Others are Ndokwa East, Ndokwa West, Bomadi
and Burutu Local Government Areas.
