The State Security Service has arrested an Abuja-based car dealer,
Ibrahim Takat, for allegedly conspiring with a spiritualist,
identified as Nakasi Ahmadu,to defraud the Federal Capital Territory
Minister, Senator Bala Mohammedof N3m."
The spiritualist, Nakasi Ahmadu "used the cloned phone number togive
instruction to the Chief of Staff to the minister via text message to
deposit N3million into his (Takat) account number 0011141544 with Diamond
Bank Plc. The amount was withdrawn the same day by the suspect."
Parading Takat in Abujaon Friday, the Director of Operations, SSS, in
FCT, Ibrahim Halilu, explained that he used the minister's cloned
number to obtain the money on August 8, 2013 at Asokoro, Abuja.
But Takat claimed he knew nothing about the alleged cloning of the
minister's telephone number,adding that the fraud was perpetrated by
the spiritualist, Nakasi Ahmadu, who is on the run. He said Ahmadu
used his (Takat) bank account to receive the money and gave him
N400,000 in return.
The car dealer explained that he gave his bank account to the
spiritualist because he had been his friend for over 20 years and
trusted him.
Takat said, "Ahmadu is my friend and he lives in Gombe;he asked me to
give him my bank account fora business transaction which I obliged
because I have known him for about 20 years and he has helped me in
the past. The money (N3m) was deposited in my accountand he withdrew
it and gave me N400,000, but I didn't know the money was criminally
obtained.
"If I was involved in the scam, I would not have come to the SSS
office when I was invited. I don't know anything about it."
Sources gathered that the police are now on the trail ofthe
spiritualist, Nakasi Ahmadu.

Though it is widely believed that the South African housemate, Angelo, had sex with the Nigerian housemate,Beverly, in the ongoingBig Brother Africa ‘The Chase’reality show, the dreadlocked guy has denied it.He said they were ‘just kissing’.
Speaking to a source on the phone earlier in the week, after being evicted from the show, Angelo said, “We didn’t have sex. We talked about it. There were some things I said I wasn’t going to do in the house. I respect my mum so much. Before I got into the house, there were things I toldmy mummy I wasn’t going to do.I wasn’t butt naked. It looked as if we were having sex in that bathtub. We were just kissing. I couldn’t take advantage of Beverly becauseI respect her so much.”
Respect is not the only thing Angelo has for the Nigerian lady. Angelo also confirmed that he is in love with her and intends to pursue the relationship.
“We will try and work things out and see how we can make our relationship work. At the same time, I hope the people ofNigeria don’t hate Bev. I wouldlove to come to Nigeria and experience Nigerian culture and take lots of pepper,” he said.
Now that he is out of the house, so many people feel the South African will go back to the girlfriend he left behind before BBA. But he said he wasn’t in any relationship before he got into the show.
“I didn’t have a girlfriend before I got into the house, but I had someone I told to waitfor me so that we would see what would happen when I get out of the house. I will be focused on what I want to do as a person and then focus onmy relationship with Bev and see where we will take it to,” he said.
No matter his feelings for Beverly though, Angelo said he hopes Melvin, the other Nigerian housemate, comes outtops in the show.
“Melvin is very humble and heis not a selfish person. I wish he wins. I think he is a stronger competition than Beverly,” he said.
Meanwhile, the show ends tomorrow with Elikem, Cleo, Dillish, Melvin and Beverly as the finalists.

Despite the resolve on Thursday by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, to continue the on-going strike until all agreements signed in 2009 are reached, the federal government, on Friday, ordered that lecturers shouldgo back to classrooms after it had disbursed the sum of N30 billion for earned academic allowances.
The directive which was given by the secretary to thegovernment of the federation, Sen Anyim Pius Anyim, during a meeting between the federal government and the vice-chancellors of the 61 public universities, stated that "Government, hereby, urges every staff of the nation's universities to return to work as all issues are being resolved."
He said with particular reference to the contentious issue of earned allowances, every staff of the universities that is so entitled should verify his claim with the university council and accordingly get paid as "from the foregoing, it is obvious that governmenthas demonstrated sufficient commitment to the implementation of the 2009 FG/ASUU agreement.
"After series of discussions, government has now provided N30 billion to support the university councils in settling the earned allowances. The amount will be disbursed to the various university councils which are in the position to know who is entitled to how much after verification."
He revealed that"Traditionally,universities pay this to deserving staff but because of the amount which ASUU now claims as arrears, government has decided to assist the university councils to pay" as government did not receive any computation of amount involved until February, 2013.
"By this computation, ASUU is claiming N92 billion as arrears for three year's payment based on percentage rage of between 15 and 20 per cent of personnel cost."
While there was consensus that revitalising the tertiary institutions is of critical importance to the nation, Anyim noted that "when put together, the amount of funds from the budgetary and non-budgetary sources that goes into the sector is quite huge but without corresponding impact.
While acknowledging the contributions of the Non-Academic Staff Union, NASU, Senior Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU,National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, andother stakeholders, Anyim reiterated the government's resolve 'to bringing the students back to school and appreciated the patience of parents and students as government is making every effort to revitalise the university system."
It would be recalled that on July 2, 2013, ASUU declared what it called "total and indefinite strike" over issuesit says has remained unresolved pertaining to an agreement it reached with government in 2009.

Congrats to those who scaled through the cut-off. Its a thing of joy and i'm so happy with you.

Although, in reality; each one of you has reasons/purpose of bagging an University degree. But my friend, We need to steer clear of this poverty of ambition, where people want to drive fancy cars and wear nice clothes and live in nice apartments but don't want to work hard to accomplish these things. Nothing good comes easy. It isn't easy but its worth it.
Have a good time for yourself this crucial period. Rely solely on God and do not trust your marks. Find some moments each day to think about your future. Gain new insights. Meditate on your plans and goals. Dont be too lousy. Infact, OAU is not for lousy fellas!. I guess you know what i meant...?. Humble yourself even to those who arent up to you. Remember that you stil have new and greater heights to climb!!!

And if you didnt meet up to the cut-off. Relax. It is not late. You stil have a better and wider chance of being admitted.
You know what you'l do...? Just gather up yourself and photocopy your slips very well. Rush back to OAU immediately the strike is over. Meet a few stalites and go to your department and *walk majesticaly into any of the offices with confidence*. Beg, postrate, plead with anyone you find in the office either visitors or occupants. See, students no dey shame o o o. No doubt, no lecturer/staff dare send you out after those pleadings. Atleast, they'l offer some help.
Dont give up.
Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence.
Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent.
Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb.
Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts.
Persistence and determination are omnipotent. The slogan "press on" has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.
