shawlar: Please, is it compulsory that the family pic must be on A4 paper? How did you get yours on that size, was it normal paper or picture/glossy quality paper? Yes please, all documents, receipts and pictures must be in A4 for scanning, if not it will be returned without been scanned. How? I used PicsArt App on my phone to merge 6 different pictures, saved it on a flash drive to print it out on A4 paper (in colour) from a Biz Centre shop. |

A: passport photos, No. It wasn't collected or used. During Biometric, you will be captured with their camera.
2. What is your total budget for the trip? and your account balance?
A: Mine was 1175GRP(without the kid's Budget) on the online application form, when I discovered it was high, I changed it to 715GBP with tipex and wrote with ink, and gave it to them to scan, ensure they scan it and writ it in the cover letter if there is any. But since you have not submitted online, you can still do your calculation right. My account balance was more N1m.

MaBuk: I got my UK Visa with my 2 children today. @ekpotek, @justwise Thank you.
Here is my story so it can help others.
I had earn 240k. I had 300k in my salary and 500k in my savings and I wanted to apply for myself alone but ekpotek advised that I should work on my salary by waiting for other month to save more or I should find a relative to accomodate me in uk. I wanted to do this in january this year. but after having waited i was able to save 1.1 in my salary in nov and 500k in my savings . i do some rental business with my savings. i had a dom acct that someone uses to buy things online so i had $900 in the acct and with faith i applied with my 2 children because my sister said she was travelling as well so she would pay for the hotel and we were given.
it took me 10months to work on my statement because i did not want to have a very low balance so it won't look shady. i printed with an opening balance of 450k and ended with 1.1M. I made copy of the exercise book i write my rental sales as well.
I also addressed my refusal letter which states that i did not include my statement of account 5 years ago and i told them it was an oversight that i have included it now. we applied on the 5th November and got our visa today 28th November.
I was discouraged thinking the money was too small but I've seen refusal with big money before that they ask about the source of their fund and inconsistencies. so please let us be wise with the income we are presenting. For some people i would advise u use 6 months or more to build a good statement of account that is consistent.
Thank you and don't mind my typo. Congratulations Madam! 1.) Kindly confirm if you submitted tax card or receipts, 2.) Did you receive a "Not Straightforward mail"? 3.) Is Ikeja centre opened now? Please confirm if the collection was from there. Congratulations again. |

MrsOT: Hello everyone,
I don't know if this information is needed but i just want to share my most recent experience in applying for uk visiting visa with you guys.
I've been visiting nairaland for a very long time now and the experiences i read on this site has helped me during various application processes, so its only fair i give back. Hope this helps.
I started my UK 5 years general visa application online early August but never completed it because i had pressing issues i needed sorting out. Finally completed it on the 23rd of august.
Here's my situation. I got married last year July, never changed my maiden name and relocated to abuja for work as a civil servant 7years ago. When applying for my new visa which expired in July 2018, i stated the following:
Married - Submitted marriage cert issued from church;
Funds - Submitted a single 30 days FD cert. of 2.5M Naira (forgot the accompanying acct. statement showing movements of the funds for a six month period) and a forex acct statement with balance of $1,500;
Job - Submitted a copy of my work ID card, 3 years payslips, 4 from each year (i know say i overdo am but i had them already so just decided to include them), offer of employment letter, confirmation letter, promotion letter, and every other thing from my office i could lay my hands on and my salary bank statement.
Sponsorship - Not sponsored. In all my previous visa applications i have always been sponsored by family, was tempted to say i will be sponsored by my husband naw (as he has a better acc. bal. + better job) but strong head nor let me;
Ties to Nigeria (property/land) - I had none, submitted none. No point lying.
Spousal ties: Submitted his bank statement, employment and promotion letters, ID card photocopy, NO property docs.
Proof of Accommodation - Wrote it in my application that i would be staying with family and included the address. I honestly forgot to submit the proof (residents bill payment) when submitting my documents as i forgot it in the car.
Address - Submitted my water bill which was not even in my name but that's all i had to show my address in naija.
Invitation - Was provided this by family but also forgot it outside the premises.
Flight booking - Forgot it outside the premises.
Also submitted my education degrees certs. as they were obtained in the UK and i hoped this would favour me positively as this was my first application self-sponsored.
All in all, on the day of biometrics, i got there too early. When waiting in my car (as them no let peson enter early) i forgot a lot of documents there. When they were finally scanning my documents for submission, i begged for 2 secs to go outside for a quick retrieval but they refused. I had to proceed with what i came in with. I became very downcast afterwards because i honestly thought i would be rejected.
Hubby did not help matters as he wanted me to apply for 2 years instead of 5 (funds issue which btw i paid myself) and was just insinuating that my application would be rejected and i would have to wait 6 months before i can reapply.
I kept hope alive by prayers men. I emailed the UKVA three days later from their website after payment of about £5 to £10 (can't remember the exact price) telling them all that happened and that i would like to resubmit the forgotten documents. Their reply was positive and that they would get back to me if the documents i mentioned were needed for my application.
Two weeks after the biometrics i received a text that my PP was ready for collection. I got the visa Glory to the Almighty alone.
I would like to also note that i have a long travel history with the UK (Previous 2 years WP and 5 years GVV) and the US as well.
My advise for people going through this is to submit as much docs as possible that can affirm your ties with naija and funds that would last well beyond your intended trip. You don't need to be a big earner, just a strict saver.
God's speed and love to you all. Congratulations! Thanks for sharing. |

ekpotek: That formula is just advisory. It’s mostly applicable to those in salary employment and not for company owners like you. Like I said you have a saving of xm personally. You do not need any additional fundings as that amount is more than sufficient to the three of you. All that you need is to provide documentation to support these savings, by submitting your company bank statement to show that the fund came from your company and perhaps from your husband. The most important thing is to show that funds in your saving were legitimately earned and not fund lodgment. Grateful, thanks for your time and points. |

ekpotek: The question you need to answer is if the TA was paid for pleasure or business trip. If you have xm closing balance in your savings account, why bother to sources for financial support from your husband and company travel allowance for the trip. The ECO will obviously concludes that these funds are unavailable to you. You really need to think through your sources for funding the trip so that the ECO is not confused like me and refuse your application. The fear is the use of this formula: 2*monthly salary(N480k)= disposable income(720 GBP);irrespective of what you have in the savings account. As you have mentioned earlier I will need more than the N480k. Meanwhile, Total breakdone expenses to be spent is 2065 GBP on myself and 2kids. Or is there another formula they use for an Employer In my case please? This is urgent, I need to make decision tonight please. |

ekpotek: Was this travel allowance paid into your personal account? Do you have documentation to support the payment of this allowance? Is it a yearly payment or what? If you're entitled to travel allowances, is it meant for business travel or pleasure travel. Without adequate documentation, the fund will be considered as fund lodgement, because it is not consistent with your cash inflow and outflow in the last 6 months.
You have a closing balance of xm. Is the fund in your personal account or company account? Before the travel allowance was moved, from my company acct to savings acct(Dont forget I own these accounts), the closing balance in my savings was xm. The fund is in my savings account and its shown on the statement of account and explained in the cover/breakdown note. Husband already wrote Letter of consent/support(signed) with his Id card, business card and data page. The travel allowance was paid in my savings account from company's account, its Annual/yearly. Its written in my employment letter. What other documentation do you think should be provided to the effect please? |
Travel › Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by aderemi166: 2:17pm On Nov 11, 2018*. Modified: 6:15pm On Nov 30, 2018 |
ekpotek: 1. Who is making this payment? Is it your company? Any huge transfer by anyone including your husband to your bank account will be considered as fund lodgement for visa purpose. If this happens, you will need to include your husband 6 months bank statement and a letter from your husband stating clearly why he transferred such an amount into your bank account and for what purpose.
2. This will depend on how you can convince the ECO on the sources of the fund. Noted, thank you! My company paid the money(travel allowance) + the one from my husband as support. Kindly know that before these payments, my closing balance was xm, will it be seen as fund lodgement as well? |
Travel › Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by aderemi166: 10:05pm On Nov 10, 2018*. Modified: 10:27pm On Nov 10, 2018 |
ekpotek: 1. Since the company belongs to you. You are free to use its funds as you like. However, UKVI do not readily accept the use of company fund for pleasure trips. You will have an herculean task convincing the ECO why you seek to use company resources to fund a pleasure trip for 3 which is not business related. Anyway there is no harm in trying.
2. Use a pen to make the corrections. Thanks Ekpotek! So I will avoid using the company fund then. 1.) However, I will be paid Annual travel allowance of N550k And if my Husband is supporting the 3 of us with like N450k-N600k, transferred into my savings(shown on the account statement), can I submit just his IDcard, data page and business card without his statement of account? 2.) Will the travel allowance and husband's contribution be seen as disposable income for the trip? |
Travel › Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by aderemi166: 12:08am On Nov 10, 2018*. Modified: 6:13pm On Nov 30, 2018 |
ekpotek: 1. You will need 6 month bank statement and pay slips 2. Submit you business tax clearance 3. That observation is if you’re funding the trip for one person. Since you plan to travel with 2 kids, then your budget will be way above N480K 4. No you cannot edit after online submission. However you can print the form and make corrections with tipex and submit along with your documents. If you’re not comfortable, you can cancel the application and start an new one. Request for a refund of your previous application money. 5. That is not a honest mistake. UKVI can determine past countries refusals without a refusal stamp. You must admit it or you’re likely to be ban for misrepresentation. 6. Your application will be assessed based on your circumstances in Nigeria regardless of the documents provided by your UK invite. 7. The ECO is likely to assess if this sort of accommodation (a military barrack) is suitable for a mother with two kids on a visit visa vis a vis UK national security. Thanks for the response, appreciated. 1.)Since I plan to travel with 2 kids, then my budget will be way above N480K as mentioned. Please can I say my Company with closing balance of Nxm will be sponsoring us? Is there any formula to use to, if a company is sponsoring. 2.)if I can make corrections with tipex, after tipex, will I write the correction with ink or type on it please? Kindly advice |

[quote author=justwise post=72786475]Hello @justwise and other gurus Please I will like to ask some questions:
1.) I will be going on a short visit to uk with my 2 kids, I own an enterprise, I started paying myself 4month ago, N240k monthly, my company account has closing balance of Nxm and savings has Nxm with Landed properties. kindly confirm if I can go ahead to submit 4 payslips?
2.) Do I need to submit tax clearance in my name (rem:I have a business name or a limited)?
3.)how much am I expected to put as my money to be spent for the trip with my two kids, because I read it shouldn't be more than 2*monthly salary, rem: I will be traveling with two kids
4.) I already submitted my online application, yet to go for biometric, how can I edit or make a change on our application forms if needed?
5.) I made an honest mistake by filling "No" to not being refused in other country, can I leave it? Will it be checked on the system? Please note, The International passport has no refusal stamp.
6.) I will be sponsoring myself and kids, my family/childhood friend(who is currently serving with British army) sent a scanned invite and other supporting docs, how can you rate this application please?
7.) Kindly note that his salary is about £1600 monthly but on his statement at present, his closing balance is a minus(-value), this bothers me because he will be accommodating us(in the barrack) and feeding us as mentioned in the invite. What is your advice?
Kindly advice a sister, gurus in the house |
