Reports suggest that Benitez has been sacked as Inter coach but Moratti claims otherwise, By Subhankar Mondal Dec 21, 2010 9:05:00 PM Inter have sacked coach Rafael Benitez, according to the latest reports emanating from England, but club president Massimo Moratti has refused to confirm the claims. Sky Sport News reports that Benitez has been given his marching orders by the Nerazzurri supremo. The Spaniard has been slated for the chop since the weekend and it was widely speculated that a decision from Moratti was going to be made before Christmas. However, Moratti himself has dismissed suggestions that he has talked to Leonardo or anyone else to replace Benitez. "At this moment the manager of Inter is still Benitez and I haven’t contacted any other coach," he told Sky Sport Italia. Former Milan tactician Leonardo is reportedly in the frame to take over the reigns at the Nerazzurri but Moratti rubbished those reports. "Let’s not joke around,” said the Inter chief. “There was no summit meeting either, as I had other things to do while other people got together." Follow Goal.com on . Lagos State on Thursday said the inability of the Nigeria Police Force to ascertain the mental state of an alleged cannibal, Mr. Clifford Orji, was responsible for the delay in prosecuting him. The state Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Supo Sasore, (SAN), said Orji, who had been detained since February 1999, was in police custody while the state government remained the prosecutor. Sasore, who briefed journalists in Alausa on the recent award of Public Sector Legal Team of the Year conferred on the ministry by the Nigerian Legal Awards, said there was a need to assess Orji’s mental ability to stand trial as allegations against him were offences against the state. “It has been difficult to convince the police that they need to provide the court with documents on Orji’s state of health,” the commissioner added. Sasore said with the recent awards, the Ministry of Justice was poised to serve members of the public more efficiently. According to him, the ministry is striving toward a higher level of performance and will do everything possible to remain above all other justice ministries in the country. He noted, “Though we operate in the most challenging legal environment in Africa, we will continue to make efficiency our watchword. The award of the best legal team in the country attests to the dedication, devotion and hard work of all members of staff of the Lagos State Ministry of Justice. “We have our challenges, which are peculiar to the environment we operate in, but we try our best to close all gaps. A new standard has been set in the ministry; we will ensure that we do more.” He said efforts were being put in place to improve the services of the state’s Probate Division, adding that there were plans to create a specialised unit that would deal with non-contentious probate matters. www.punchng.com |

As for me,there is this girl we used to talk on phone everyday and send each other lovely text so we decided to hook up one day and we agreed to hook up on a weekend at a mr biggs outlet in ketu,i arrived early and sat myself down facing outside so i can see her when she walks in.Afterawhile my phone ranged and damn she's the one calling,so i looked outside and saw a tiny figure on phone and immediately i knew she was the one so i decided not to pick the call and waited for her to call again and this went on 3 times so i finally picked it and told her i'm inside. She came inside and i notify to her where i seated but on seeing me she felt inferiority complex herself and she felf uneasy so i told her to calm down,we chatted fine and parted so on getting home she called me and said she knew i didn't like her but i started laughing that it's not true, lol I;m so glad she knew herself and she never bothered to call me again. |

From AHMED OYERINDE, Sokoto Thursday, December 16, 2010 • Photo: Sun News Publishing More Stories on This Section A25-year-old man, Mallam Bello Umar Dan Baba, of Gidan Gazo village in Sokoto State, has bagged a 10-year-jail term for beating his father to death. Dan Baba had been standing trial before a Sokoto High Court since 2002, accused of killing his father after hitting the 72-year-old man on the head with a Fulani stick. The accused, who had been in detention for the past eight years, was charged with culpable homicide, not punishable with death under section 224 of the penal code. The presiding judge, Justice Saidu Muhammed Sifawa, found him guilty and sentenced him to 10 years imprisonment without an option of fine. He, however, ordered that the terms should run from 2002 when the accused was brought to his court. Justice Sifawa stated that his decision was based on the fact that the accused had been in detention for too long. |

THERE was jubilation in Aba Sunday over the killing of notorious kidnap kingpin in Abia State, Obioma Nwankwo, popularly known as Osisikankwu. Deputy Army Public Relations Officer Col. Sagir Musa confirmed Nwankwo’s death Sunday. He said the suspect was shot dead at Obokwe market by a joint police and military patrol team. The team had laid ambush for the suspect for days after they learnt of his presence in the bush near the market. His killing brought to an end the myth around him in Aba that he cannot be caught or killed. Col. Musa said last night that the body of the suspect had been taken to Umuahia to be shown to government officials before being publicly paraded. Osisikankwu, who was arrested a few moths ago, was inexplicably released. Since then, he has been tormenting the people, officials alleged. Police authorities said his remains would be paraded last night before being taken to the mortuary. Lt.-Col. Musa described Osisikankwu’s killing as a landmark achievement of the military operations in the state. He promised that the command would not relent in its bid to rid Abia of kidnappers and other criminals. Special Adviser to Governor Theodore Orji on Electronic Media Ugo Emezue said Osisikankwu’s killing was the triumph of light over darkness. Emezue, in a statement, stated that the government and people of Abia were grateful to God for the development. He added that the efforts of President Goodluck Jonathan and Governor Orji in ensuring lasting peace in the state deserve commendation. “In spite of the death of Osisikankwu, Abia government will not relent in its bid to rid Abia of kidnappers,’’ Emezue stressed. He assured Abians coming home for Christmas of their safety “The governor commended the military officers for a job well done and charged them to track down all the boys who had unleashed mayhem in the state,” he stated.
