reading through a nigeria newspaper, I discovered that rivers election has become a serious battle between APC and PDP supporters. serious shooting by gunmen, killing of innocent soul, killing of corpers that are ment to be the leaders of tomorrow. The most provocative aspect is that the elected forget the struggles of the people so why vote for someone that has rubbed you before, he has stolen your money before and the rest. I want to bring your notice to our greatest mistake in terms of politics in this country. Most people vote for party in this country not individual, if an aspirant stole under PDP what is the assurance that he will be a saint under APC, let us start voting for individual base on their characters and stop voting for party. nice topic, bt will u burst the polytene open when u want to transplant ur new generated plant? |
I have been having serious problem with phcn. Now let's face our training proper. I will be talking about site location and construction of pen. a good farmer must locate his/her farm close to his home because of predators. If ur farm is close to u, you will be able to monitor it properly. plz ur location must be a place with proper shade, too much heat is not good for snail farming. The type of snail pen depends on a number of factors which include: - the scale of th snail farming enterprise - the type of snail farm i.e indoor or outdoor - the stage of development and habitat of the snail. a Snail pen can be large or small depending on how many snails the farmer want to raise. For a new farmer it is advisable to start with a small pen. He would need fewer materials and fewer snails for this. As he becomes more experienced in snail farming, he can build a bigger pen and raise more snail. A 5m x 5m out door pen is a suitable size to start with. PREPARATION OF A 5m x5m OUT DOOR SNAIL PEN choosing a suitable site close to the house. The farmer should clear the area of all plant materials like bushes, grasses, roots and weeds. The cleared materials should be evenly spread on the ground where the pen would be located. Burn the materials when dry. Burning of the area will clear if of insects, weed, seeds, rats and other pests. From the cleared area, a square of 5m x5m is marked out for the snail farm. The ground in the square is dug to a few centimeter (20cm) and turned over with a shovel, hoe or other suitable implements. NB: if any more insect or other snail enemies are seen, more dried plant materials are spread on the ground and burnt again. The ground is then smoothen after digging. the ground should be smooth and we'll worked as it would be when planting a vegetable garden. to be continue, still remain my humble self adexgii, u are free to ask any question |

SNAIL FARMING IN NIGERIA : When you see snails stick to a tree stump, hide under stones or leaves, what impression do you have of them? When you see them displayed in the market places, do you view thetm as one of those edible animals meant for the soup pot? Many people see snails here and there. Some people take it as meat. But quite a number don't know how to go about rearing them. This is made worse because snails, which belong to the family of animal called MOLLUSCA, is an hermaphrodite. It has both the female and male sexual organs; so one cannot really distinguish between the male and female specie of it. Many who are into snail farming in Nigeria are also unwilling to let others know about the farming methodology. The techniques are often shrouded in secrecy. But the plain truth is that snail farming is as easy as ABC. The only thing the snails may constantly demand from you is your attention and care. They hardly fall sick. You don't have to buy their food and you may not have to spend much to create an abode for them. The beauty of it all is that the snails reproduce rapidly. They are capable of producing hundreds of eggs, which hatch into snails. It is now possible to produce 1,000,000 snails worth more than N5 million twice a year. This is made possible because of the availability of very highly prolific ACHATINA ACHATINA species of snails, which lay 200-400 in one batch 2-3 times a year. we will continue tomorrow if u are interested. |
