KELVIN086: Thanks , I've read this several times its the same thing all schools have on their sites , just that some list the countries dey recognise while others don't like the one in question. For the fact that it is stated that they accept countries whose native language is English does not mean they recognise nigeria as an English speaking country. An example is university of calgary they say exactly the same thing on their site , but when you start ur application and you choose ur home country as nigeria you are expected to submit your toefl result bfor u can be considered for admission. Email admission office for any curiosity. Providing answers to your questions is their job but don't make it obvious to them. Shalom! |

Governoryomi: Good evening guys, nice to be here. Pls how long does the students permit processing time take and whats the total cost. How can I impressively establish a tie for the benefit of the cic visa officer. I got admission for PGD. Is it safe enough to get a students visa with? How much do I need in my account and my sponsor's account. Can I pay part of the school fees first, does it increase my chance of getting the visa? Thank you so much. Processing duration= +/-2months, processing cost = budget #80 - 100k, Tie = Assets like house, shares, bonds, job, Almighty marriage that works well when you partner isn't going with you from onset, etc PGD for Visa. = Tricky but possible. Need more conviction with SOP Account = add CAD 13,000 to your school fees and minus it from the account balance. The remaining must be good enough to take care of your or your sponsors dependant. Paying part of School fees = at your risk. Better not if it isn't a condition from your school. Note: all above is based on my reading on and off this thread. Am yet to apply for a visa. In short, awaiting admission decision sef. So, be cautioned. Shalom! |

max1981: Thank you. But this is my second time of deferring O. Since last year. You should have apply for thesis courses if u know you know say "Pepe" no dey na. Anyway next options if I were you is to: A) pray and seek financial help from family and friends ( Expect story like "no shishi" and more). B) Restrategies to apply to courses with enough funding (Might have to wait another year for your dream to be a reality). #Gurus might have a better option. #Wish you the best Advise to others that want to apply to schools. Don't just apply to schools, check school fees and funding available. Be truthful to yourself but have faith. Shalom! |

Carleton uni , dalhousie uni , ryerson uni, western ontario , windsor , university of ottawa. Applied to Ryerson with TOEFL but I think an English as a Medium of learning letter from your school would do the magic too. Email admission office for more info. Shalom! |

@ Emma4, l I applied with a CGPA of 4.5 and awaiting decision. Made a list of 15 schools including US ones. Since i wasnt going to apply to "inferior" schools, arranged my list based on course rating and funding as stated on the web. US went out with GRE score of 296, removed Canadian schools requesting hard copy transcript due to funds and was left with three Canadian Schools including Ryerson. Am not sure most funding deadline hasn't close. Let Excel help you in the arrangement and ordering. Go, research and be truthful to yourself in the process. Shalom! |

Sesanbimbo: Please why is Canada university overrated. I contacted one proffesor who was suppose to be my supervisor at the university of calgary . the Prof said my GPA of 4.12 was ineligible for admission into the graduate program and the grade wasn't competitive enough, that he needed an exceptional candidate. probably first class or 5.0 lol, with A all through. Because my gpa of 4.12 is a middle B was the reason he gave. Meanwhile the minimum admission requirement is 4.0/5 for Nigeria. Lol Nigeria don suffer. Choi. I am considering MSc research in Microbiology. You complaining for one mail. Oga sir/madam, if I open my reply mail from professors, you will smile at your case. No b only Nigerians know and want Better thing. Chinko, shori shori, shale, Abduls, Rodriguez, etc are aware too. Just keep trying jare. Shalom! |

habbeysax: thanks for your swift response.
As for me I have contacted some supervisor at the department and I guess they have records of it too...I wasn't bother to get a supervisor at all cost like I said earlier on?
what can you say about my chances?
I have a nairalander STUDYING in MUN and never secured a supervisor before given admission I know say head pass head oh. Can't predict your chances. Life is a risk. Would have done the same if I were you. I pray you break the record even if it has never happen before. Shalom! |

habbeysax: did you secure a supervisor before given admission? As for my case, my application is completed waiting on admission decision but I emailed some supervisor but never secured one. Never got any email to secure a supetvisor at all cost. However, I have another friend that applied also but got a mail before all required documents received that she need to contact a supervisor within four weeks unless her file will be closed, the deadlines don laps now. what's your comment on this ? My story of getting a supervisor..... I mailed more than 30 professors in more than 5 schools. Got about 80% "we not fully compatible, all the best", about 19% " no reply" and Just one "ok but can't guarantee you admission". Securing a supervisor is more than Gulder Ultimate Search but still have to keep trying. Also think graduate administrator help sometimes when it comes to successfully securing one. Did your friend try that route? Think securing a supervisor for Thesis Based is key to funding and admission. Your friend can be a record breaker. However, have heard some schools reject 9ja first class because of " No available supervisor" e.g. MUN. Caution: I use "think" because am not 100% sure. Shalom! |

thesoj: Bro, I'm so sorry to hear about your financial situation. I would strongly recommend that you get a thesis-based MSc admission before you leave Nigeria, unless you know with high probability that there is a professor in Canada that will give you funding. Alternatively, consider finding another sponsor that you would plan to ultimately pay back. theSoj, please, can thesis funding be reasonable enough for man upkeep over there? |

Kenyata: Hello Good people of Nairaland
I was denied based on Purpose of Visit ONLY. I suspect not including statement of purpose must have contributed to this. I'm 40. I have HND Accounting. I want to pursue a degree in Business Administration. I also applied for TRV for my wife and 3 children so they could visit me in Canada whenever they are on vacation. I want to know whether I could use the medical I did while reapplying. Will I ask IOM Ikeja to send it to CIC or get a copy and include it in my documents when reapplying? I did paper application initially and still want to do paper application again. I didn't do upfront medical initially. I got a medical request via mail. I have written a detailed letter of purpose to be included in my application this time. Thanks for taking time to address my challenges. God bless you all. Yet to apply for Visa but is it BSc or MSc?. Think you need to state the type of degree you applied for. Shalom! |
