Most Nigerians have heard of "Mindset". Now anytime you talk about Nigerians, people will quickly reply, it is the mindset jare. But what they don't know is what type of mindset is the problem. Most Nigerians have a Fixed Mindset. With this type of mindset people don't accept new ideas no matter how compelling the facts are. What you need is a Growth Mindset. Please go through the image below and see what type of mindset you have. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=327272064445575&id=158338594672257 cc: lalasticlala and mynd44 cc: seun and maclatunji

I like spending time in Florida with my wife. Why? because the place is clean, sunny with beautiful houses and streets. The street in the photo below is my favorite residence in Florida. I keep wondering why do our people live in dirt. Then I realized it. It is not just physical poverty but mental poverty. In the Florida streets there are trees. Then I think why can't we plant palm trees all over the place in Nigeria and flood the world market with coconut oil and juice? They want it, so we give it to them. Take Edo state state alone. If I was the Governor I will get each house in Edo State to plant 2 coconut trees in front of the house on a straight line or face a fine. Each coconut tree will produce 200 coconut per year. Even with 500,000 houses; see what will happen: 500,000 x 2 coconut trees = 1,000,000 coconut trees 200 coconut per tree per year = 200,000,000 Even at N50 per coconut = N10,000,000,000 That is 10 billion Naira. That is just for the homes. I will do the same for all government roads and double that number. I would buy it from the people and bring it to a very large factory to make coconut oil, paste and other things to double this revenue yet again. When we are done we will have over N40 billion per year. This will create lots of jobs. All that money will be used to fix all the roads every year one by one till all roads look like the one in Florida. This will create more jobs again. All paying for itself. Imagine a state with access to N40 billion just to fix roads yearly. It is not hard to do. You can make the following using Coconuts: * Desiccated coconut. • Coconut Butter, Coconut Cream, Coconut flour. • Coconut Milk, Milk powder, Coconut Yogurt. • Virgin Coconut Oil. • Coconut vinegar. • Coconut Coir, Coconut pith. • Coconut wood. • Coconut Oil. • Tender Coconut water. • Coconut Sugar, Coconut Syrup. P.S What is this thing with Nigeria and open gutters? https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=327426771096771&id=158338594672257

INTRODUCTION Eggplant (Solanum melongena), or aubergine, is a species of nightshade, grown for its edible fruit. Eggplant is the common name in North America, Australia and New Zealand, but British English uses the French word aubergine. It is known in South Asia and South Africa as brinjal. There are around 770 varieties of eggplant that can be found in tropical and sub-tropical areas around the world. People cultivate eggplant as a source of food. Other than that, eggplant can be cultivated as ornamental plant. INTRESTING FACTS ABOUT EGGPLANT 1. Eggplant has spiny stem that can grow from 16 to 57 inches in height. 2. Eggplant develops large green, deeply lobed leaves. 3. Eggplant produces star-shaped, white or purple flowers. 4. They contain both types of reproductive organs (pistil and stamens) and can perform self-pollination. 5.Fruit of eggplant belongs to the group of berries. The most popular types of eggplant are oval shaped and covered with smooth, glossy, purple colored skin. Flesh is whitish or creamy colored and has spongy texture. Some varieties of eggplant produce white, lavender, green or red-striped fruit that can be elongated, rounded or pea-shaped. Size of the eggplant (fruit) depends on the variety. It ranges from 1.2 to 12 inches in length. Eggplant contains numerous miniature seed. They have bitter taste due to high content of nicotine (substance that belongs to the group of alkaloids). I saw this set of sofas along the road in Benin City a while back. I stopped to admire and buy them. I really liked the design and the needlework. I was impressed. A young man came out and politely told me that the sofas were imported. I told him I wanted local made and not imported. Then he started confessing that they made them at the back of the house right there. I asked him to take me to the workshop. He took me to the back of the house to see his workshop. But yes, these sofas were really produced there. But the boys lacked so much confidence in themselves. Looking at how well made they were, I wondered how far they could go if they were encouraged to take these skills to the next level. They could be making parachutes for export. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=324950538011061&id=158338594672257

These men are Hausa and Fulani men who are hunters (not the herdsmen). The are all northerners. They are at my farm having fun. Every few months they will come in group of at least 20 of them with dogs and hunting gears to hunt and use my farm as base. It was really fun. They don't come anymore because the guys Lai Mohammed calls the foreigners have driven them away as well. Those so called foreigners have AK47. This was before Buhari came. There was no big agenda then. These men are the good guys. Some people think southerners hate northerners. But as you can see, there are lots of northerners in my farm. These are the peace loving types. Not killing herdsmen. Trouble starts when someone is trying to kill the other. Without a dogmatic and myopic leaders Nigerians can really live together. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=325021098004005&id=158338594672257

This is a problem I have been struggling with for sometimes now. One farm is in Nigeria and the other is in Costa Rica planting the same crop. The one in Nigeria has many people working on it with very poor result. The commissioner of something even commissioned it. While the one in Costa Rica has few people working on it and was never commissioned. They have 55,000 pineapples per hectare and the one in Nigeria has about 10,000 per hectare. you can see the difference yourself. However, the guy in Costa Rica is not using magic, not praying and it is not rocket science. The technology is in Nigeria and the manual is all over the place on Google. My question is, giving the land, the money, the water, the seedling and the know how, Why can't people reproduce the same result in Nigeria? It is unfortunate to see many Nigerians go to bed hungry, suffering of starvation and malnutrition. We constantly complain of lack of good paying jobs and no money to spend and take care of our immediate needs. In effort to get jobs, we sell themselves into slavery in the hands of Chinese and Lebanese right in their own country all in the name of working in a factory. While in reality, we are sitting on a goldmine known as cassava farming and production! Cassava grows very well in most parts of West Africa like Ghana, Senegal, Benin Republic, Nigeria, and Cameroon. The Brazilians are also know for cassava farming which they use for Tapioca production. The industrial processing of cassava in Nigeria holds much potential for successful investment. The crop is increasingly attracting attention of serious business people. And processing businesses are slowly starting to spring-up all over the country. You also know how useful cassava is to Nigerians in general in terms of consumption. Cassava forms the major part of our daily food. Almost no family can survive a whole year without cassava related food. Cassava can be processed into a number of products such as starch, flour, chips, ethanol and glucose syrup, and bread to name a few. These products are all in high demand locally and also have significant export possibilities. These therefore, place a lot of raw cash in the hands of anyone who goes into cassava farming right now. As a smart person, you should be thinking about how to take advantage of the government support for agriculture and the increased budget to create wealth for yourself. This is because cassava production surely provides opportunity for investors . If you are ready, here are what you need to start your own cassava farming in Nigeria. 1. Select Site For Your Cassava Farming For Cassava plantation, it is important to choose an accessible well-drained fertile soil. You can take sample of the soil where you want to start your cassava farming to the IITA to help determine whether the soil is suitable for high yield cassava variety. While most forest lands within the South West are known to be very fertile for cassava farming, it is important to further verify in other to be sure of your investment. 2. Decide On Cassava Varieties For good cassava production, the following varieties are recommended for their high yield and processing quality: TMS 30572, NR 8082, NR8083, TMS 4(2) 1425, TMS 81/00110, TMS 92/0326. An additional 10 varieties are in the process of being released. Check from the cassava production specialists in Ibadan 3. Land Preparation And Planting A total herbicide – Round up (a glyphosate) should be applied to the land where you want to plant your cassava at the rate of 4–5 l/ha 10 days before land preparation. For cost effectiveness and optimum plant population of your cassava , mechanization and planting on ridges are recommended. LIMING It is recommended that 5 (50 kg) bags of agricultural lime be applied /ha during land preparation. Planting and planting material 1. Cassava Planting starts in April and can be extended to October. 2. The quantity of cassava recommended for 1 ha is 60 bundles of cassava stem. 3. Cassava Stem cuttings 25 cm long should be planted at a spacing of 1 m x 1 m. 4. Maintain 100% cassava planting rate by replacing dead or nonviable stems. Post-planting weed control Where a total herbicide was not used before land preparation for cassava plantation, it is recommended that a selective pre-emergence herbicide be applied within three days after planting. Five liters of Primextra is recommended /ha. 4. Types Of Fertilizer To Use The following fertilizers and their rate/ha are recommended • NPK 15:15:15–12 (50 kg) bags • NPK 20:10:10–9 (50 kg) bags • NPK 12:12:17–15 (50 kg) bags Apply fertilizer at 8 weeks after planting your cassava. Apply fertilizer in a ring, 6 cm wide and 10 cm from the plant or broadcast with care around the cassava plant, making sure the fertilizer does not touch the cassava stem or leaves. Yield Cassava Yield of 25 t/ha and above can be obtained with good agronomic practices and management. Therefore, every step must be taken seriously in the process of planting your cassava. NOTE To reduce cost of production and attain high yields, it is recommended that land preparation be fully mechanized. A power tiller can be used if the total land area under cultivation is not more than 250ha Cassava Production Like This Will Make You Millions of Naira Production cost for one hectare of cassava Land preparation ……………………………………………………… N10,000.00 Cassava cuttings (60 bundles @ N300/bundle) ………………N18,000.00 Planting (4 person at N1000/pd) …………………………………..N4,000.00 Pre-emergence herbicides (5 liters at N1000/l) ………………..N5,000.00 Fertilizer (20:10:10, 9 bags at N2500/bag) ……………………..N22,000.00 Insecticides (2 liters at N1000/l) ……………………………………N3,000.00 Application of herbicide ……………………………………………….N3,000.00 Application of insecticide ………………………………………………N 3,000.00 Application of fertilizer (4 persons at N1,000/pd) ……………..N4,000.00 One weeding (10 person at N1,000/pd) …. ……………………..N10,000.00 Harvesting (15 person at N1,500/pd). …………………………….N17,500.00 Total ………………………………………………………………………..
