Team End Time take note

The end of the world is near! Well, relatively near, geologically speaking. Okay, even geologically speaking, it’s pretty far off.

But scientists at the University of East Anglia have made their best estimate for how much longer the Earth will be habitable for human life, barring nuclear war, rogue asteroids, or being destroyed to make room for a hyperspace bypass . Fortunately, you don’t need to put your affairs in order any time soon.

The researchers estimate that the Earth will remain habitable for another 1.75 to 3.25 billion years. Their research, which has been published in the journal Astrobiology , is part of the bigger project of looking for life outside of our own solar system.

Over the past few years, astronomers have
discovered a number of planets that exist within the habitable zones of their stars – meaning that their orbits place them not too far, but not too close, so that temperatures on the surface are just right for life to develop.

But with so many planets in potentially habitable zones, there has to be some priority in trying to determine which planets are most likely to contain life and are therefore more worth devoting additional resources to observing.

That’s where this research comes in. However, as the orbits of planets change over time, and as the nature of their stars change over time, no planet is likely to stay in a habitable zone forever.

So in this paper, the astronomers did their best to estimate the “habitable zone lifetime” of a planet. Since life took hundreds of millions of years to evolve on Earth, the researchers reason that the best candidates for observation are those with the longest habitable zone lifetimes.

The researchers then studied 34 planets, including Earth, that are thought to exist within the habitable zones of their stars. They then used observations of their orbits and their stars’ to arrive at estimates of each planets habitable zone lifetime. There is an astounding range of possibilities – ranging “from significantly less than that of Earth to over five
times Earth’s HZ lifetime,” they wrote.

Of course, this paper really represents a first step in determining how likely a planet is going to evolve life. The scientists themselves notes this in the paper, where they write “Interpreting the results that have been returned by this simple model should be done with caution.

While we have sought to estimate a theoretically habitable zone lifetime, we do not claim that the time that a planet spends within the HZ is the only control over habitability.”

They also note that different planets will experience different factors, which will provide still further interesting effects on how life might evolve on them. “The actual HZ lifetime of any given planet is unlikely to be controlled solely by planetary surface temperatures, and individual worlds may experience a variety of divergent (bio)geochemical evolutionary histories, possibly resulting in markedly different planetary environments to that of Earth.”

First step it may be, it’s still a fascinating one. As the models for habitability get further defined, that may help astronomers find another planet with life that much sooner.

Additionally, this research reminds us that though the end may be of years away, the ability of the Earth to remain home for human beings won’t last forever.

But if humans are still around when the Earth begins to move out of the habitable zone, we can always move next door. “If we ever needed to move to another planet, Mars is probably our best bet,” lead researcher Andrew Rushby said in a statement. “It’s very close and will remain in the habitable zone until the end of the Sun’s lifetime – six billion years from now.”

This needs to be taken seriously, No 1 (prophet or no prophet) should be allowed to make a threat comment to either governor or anybody. This man needs to be arrested and he should be made to face the music or is there no law that back that up?

acidosis™:
Respect is Reciprocal.

Seems this governor is loosing the respects by the day...

Anyway I am not suprised..

What do y'all expect..when most Lagosians and their rulers have no atom of respect for the office of the president.

If Mr governor is bold enough to confront, threaten the F.G, then a leper, a tout is good enough to threaten Mr governor.

It so sad that we always look at things from tribalistic angle, in the case of Fashola/FG this is democracy and we all have right to criticize any government we feel is not doing good but not a threat. If we must remain one Nigeria then we need to start looking at issues from different angles

COOL DK:

Good Question!

Salat is something amazing in Islam and it is the way Muslims 'converse' with "Allah". Muslims make 'salat' every day, five times a day. Salat is a form of worship in the most distinguished and honorable form.
Salat is the second most important act of worship in Islam, after the shahadah (declaration of faith) and is often referred to as the second pillar of Islam.
Salat is obligatory worship and must be
performed five times a day at prescribed times.
These five times are dawn (Fajr), immediately after
noon (Dhuhr), mid-afternoon ('Asr), sunset
(Maghrib), and early night (Isha').

Ritual cleanliness and ablution are required
before salat, as are clean clothes and location, and the removal of shoes. One may pray individually or communally, at home, outside, virtually any clean place, as well as in a mosque, though the latter is preferred.
Special is the Friday noon prayer, called Jum'ah. It, too, is obligatory and is to be done in a mosque, in congregation.
It is accompanied by a sermon (Khutbah), and it replaces the normal Dhuhr salat.

Quran backings about Salat:

Qur’an 11:114—And keep up prayer in the two parts of the day and in the first hours of the night; surely good deeds take away evil deeds; this is a reminder to the mindful.

Qur’an 17:78-79—Establish regular prayers—at the sun’s decline till the darkness of the night, and the morning prayer and reading: for the prayer and reading in the morning carry their testimony. And pray in the small watches of the morning: (it would be) an additional prayer (or spiritual profit) for thee: soon will thy Lord raise thee to a Station of Praise and Glory!

Jazakumlahu Khairan

10 TIPS ON HOW TO CONCENTRATE DURING SALAT (PRAYERS)

Salam Aleikum Waramatullahi Wabarakatuh to all Muslim Brothers and Sisters, i found this on one of Islamic facebook
page and i think it`ll be useful.

1. Before standing up for Prayer, try to deal with all the minor urgent matters which demand your attention. If you are pressed by hunger, eat first; if you are pressed to attend to the call of nature, relieve yourself; if you are the parent of an infant, feed him or her, or keep him or her busy.

2. Perform your wudu’ (ablution) well, paying...due care and attention.

3. Approach the Prayer with zest and passion as if it is the last prayer in your life before dying. Actually the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) taught us that we could do nothing in this world that could ever surpass Prayer in merit and excellence.

4. Visualize that in your Prayer you are going to have a special audience with Allah, Lord of the worlds, and that you are enjoying a direct communion with Him—which, in fact, is true.

5. Think of the Prayer you are performing as if it were the last Prayer of your life. In fact, it could very well be the last one, since no one is given a guarantee that he would live to perform another Prayer.

6. Picture the scene of the Last Day when people will be lined up into two groups, one destined for Heaven, and another for Hell, and ask yourself where you would be placed.

7. Focus your mind on what you are reading in your Prayer and recite simple surah that you understand it's meaning and ponder on the meaning whiles u recite.

8. If, in spite of your best efforts, your mind is still wandering, seek refuge in Allah and bring your mind back to Prayer.

9. Pray to Allah and beg Him to grant you true the joy of concentrating in your Prayer and protection against the wanderings of your mind.

10. Place your eyesight to the one spot where you will be making your sujud while you recite and avoid taking your eyes from that spot.

May Allah protect us from the tricks of shaitan during prayers and forgive us our mistakes.
Ameen!!

KenGali: Do not be deceived-
Aka Ikenga - is an Igbo political organisation that backs the political activities of Senator Chris Ngige in Lagos. Senator Chris Ngige is not only a member of Aka Ikenga, He was once the President of Aka Ikenga. Do not be deceived by their utterances, and inability to question how a purported Acknowledgment letter was enough to nullify the constitutional rights of their brothers.

They have not bothered to visit and listen to the deportees! They already reached a conclusion from Fashola's lies. It is a shame that an Organisation like Aka Ikenga can be reduced to Political Jobbers!

I thought Ngige was smart, As a senator representing Anambra Central he cannot protect the rights of his people, which is even is constitutional duty as a Senator, How can he Govern Anambra State? He is so gullible, no wonder he was kidnapped as a Governor with all the paraphernalia of power?

Symphony007: how many nigerians eat cassava bread? What makes them think all the money going into this will make nigerians accept it? You can make the arguement that overtime people will grow to eat it but how many billions will be spent first? Meanwhile nigerian consume millions and millions of bags of rice annually. The market is already there. It's just for us to produce ours and gradually push out asian rice. Can you imagine how much we will gain?

Nigerians eat bread as much as we eat rice no argument about that, you can only tell us that you don't eat bread and if you do eat bread, do you know (unaware to you) how many percentage of cassava flower in it? You may try to deny it but that just the plain truth even those big company producing slice bread are the one patronising cassava farmer.
