Business / Re: Clearing Container Of Diapers by adisarasaq(m): 12:47pm On Sep 28, 2016
First, your goods value will determine how much it is to be paid as import duty (CIF ✖ whatever percentage that your goods attracted)

Also general goods like yours required Form 'M' and PAAR (PRE-ARRIVAL ASSESSMENT REPORT) to be open, and that will be done through your Bank.

Documents that you need to forward to your bank are....Final Invoice, B/L and maybe Packing List.

Agent can handle this for you if you don't know how but that's another contract.

Import duty is calculated by adding Cost of the goods, Freight Charges and Insurance (CIF) together.

Shipping and Terminal charges will cost you from 350k to 400k for 20ft container while 40ft will be double. Agent fee for clearing differ.

Last but very important, diapers is regulated by NAFDAC so therefore you must have obtained all necessary permit before any attempt.

Car Talk / Re: Advantages And Disadvantages Of Buying Your Car From Cotonou by adisarasaq(m): 6:34pm On Aug 20, 2016
musicwriter:
The current economic situation have damaged the Naira, so cars are actually cheaper in Nigeria now.

On paying duties and not paying duties, the only time to worry about undutied car is when its on the way crossing to Nigeria. Once the car arrives Nigeria nobody knows where the car come from. I'm sure 50% or more of cars in Nigeria come from Cotonou. Some year ago, I bought a car from Cotonou and few days in Lagos police stopped me and found some Cotonou clarance papers still inside. I was so foolish not to have removed them. But, all I did was settle.

you settle because police doesn't have business with where your car comes from as far as it's not stolen, I only pray you don't get arrested by the Nigerian customs

Car Talk / Re: Duties On Tokunbo Cars To Be Reduced - Kemi Adeosun by adisarasaq(m): 6:02pm On Aug 20, 2016
calculusx:
Miss Minister Inflicting Pain and hardship on Nigerians all because you want to raise revenue?

I don't understand her kind of economics, increasing tariff discourage importation which means many jobs will be lost. Grimaldi has sacked almost 80% of their drivers because few people still import Cars.

High Tariff means low revenue. Why not reduce tariff to encourage importation so you can generate more revenue since we can't manufacture Cars in Nigeria for now.

Watching this administration with 3D

Tariff was never increased, what really happened is that the increase in exchange rate is affecting the calculation of the import duty, ex factory price remain the same.

Duty to be paid on cars valued at $2000 @197 naira exchange to a dollar is quite lower than the same car at $2000 but @313 naira exchange to a dollar.

Example >
Before
Your car is valued at $2000, and the exchange is #197 to a dollar

2000*197=394,000
394,000*35%=137,900
Your basic duty is #137,900

Now
Your car valued at $2000 exchange is #313 to a dollar

$2000*313=626,000
626,000*35%=219,100
Your basic duty is #219,100

The difference is #81,200.

The effects of the exchange rate is really tormenting, government can only help by reducing the percentage that is to be paid on the imported goods, for example from 35% to like 10%.

If the statement credited to finance minister is true then it's a right step for now.

Crime / Re: My Dad Wrongly Detained: Please........ I Need Your Humble Advice About My Dad by adisarasaq(m): 11:46am On Mar 18, 2016
fnep2smooth:
Its been sixteen months now that my dad had been in detaintion for what he knew nothing about. He work has the commander in IMO STATE RESCUE MISSION and he is the one in charge of Ngor-Okpala and Aboh mbeise LGA for six years before this ugly incident happen on 18 december 2014 which i had to create this thread then.

www.nairaland.com/2068691/please-need-human-rights-lawyers

Some one wrote a partition against him that he (my dad) personally killed someone with a stick and push him out of a moving car in broad day light and till now NO WITNESS has appear in court for this accusation.

The victim was found dead along Aba - Owerri road which was believe to be a hit-and-run sitation because it happens in front of a major filling station which was also covered when the police came for investigation.

Within two days of the partition, some police men from zone 9 Umuahia arrested him on 18th of december 2014 and till now he hasn't be granted bail or release.

We have to pay for fuel anytime the police wants to come for investigation for six months which is up to 20 thousand naira per trip and we also paid 150 thousand naira for autosy to be conducted on the dead victim ( who as been buried when my dad is still on detaintion early last year) and up till now the autosy report is no where to be found.

The police has to delay the case for six months before my dad was charge to court on june last year and we are still fighting the court case couple with the strike in imo state judiciary.

My dad work as a security vigilantee for six years (during Ikedi Ohakim "NEW FACE OF IMO VIGILANTE) later change to (IMO RESCUE NETWORK by the Gov Rochas) and i believe he has stepped on toes because his work involve arresting of kidnapper, oil bunkery , drug smugglers etc who always make use of the boundary between Ngor-okpala and rivers state. Ever since he has been working for the past six years, we have been sleeping with one eye open. Call threat, message and other means has been use to bring him down but God keep saving him till this accusation was lay against him and some people had to sponsor it just to take him out.

The IMO STATE SECURITY NETWORK and the SSA to the governor on security who is my dad boss has keep mute on the matter, no single help has been render to fasting the investigation or the release of their commander who was accuse in his line of work and for sixteen months now he hasn't been visited or question but was left to his fate when he is working for the IMO STATE GOVERNMENT.

The next court case is on 27th of march (THIS MONTH) and to be frank we have run out of idea and fund. This case has dry up the family and we have no place to go for help which is why i have to create this thread for the second time to seek for any help on how to work this out.

The name of my dad is CHIEF RICHARD EKENMA. Commander-in-charge of Ngor-okpala and Aboh Mbeise LGA in IMO STATE under IMO STATE RESCUE NETWORK. PLEASE I NEED SOMEONE HELP.

Op, this is what i have started on Twitter on your behalf you go to Twitter and help yourself.

The present tools government is using is causing mayhem in the economy. They have proven to be blunt and highly ineffective shortchanging almost everyone. The best indicator of this is that a bag of pure water is now 100 naira.

The proper thing to do is to allow the currency depreciate to its real value based on the present forex earning so that the government can provide enough forex to everyone who demands it.

GEJ allowed the currency to depreciate snd that is why is why despite oil prices falling from $118 to $45, the naira fell from 165 to 210.

It is the opposite with PMB who said he won't allow the currency to depreciate from day 1. That is why there is so much bedlam.

If we're not enemy of ourselves what business does pure water have with forex
